Bill Barr was appointed to give this type of ‘analysis’ of the Mueller report, and it really discredits and it is an undoing of what Bob Mueller spent 22 months doing, and for him to sum it up in a three-page report. If there’s nothing in the report that will make people think there was obstruction of justice and or conspiracy with some members of the Trump administration, it should be allowed to be public to see it. The fact that they don’t want the public to see it makes you think they know this was all a whitewash and a charade.”

KANSAS. Judge who played key role in first gay marriage to retire: “The Kansas Office of Judicial Administration says Johnson County District Judge Kevin Moriarty will retire on June 28. In October 2014, Moriarty ordered the county to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to hear appeals from five states seeking to preserve their bans on gay marriage.”

BARBARA BUSH. Trump caused her ‘heart attack’: ‘It wasn’t technically a heart attack, though she called it that. An ambulance was called to take her to the hospital. The two former presidents who had been at home with her that day, her husband and her oldest son, trailed in a car driven by the Secret Service. The tumultuous presidential campaign in general and Trump’s ridicule of son Jeb Bush in particular had riled her. “Angst,” she told me.’

HISTÓRICO: Gobernador de Puerto Rico firma orden ejecutiva contra peligrosa “terapia reparativa”

HRC declaró lo siguiente sobre el histórico decreto ejecutivo del gobernador de Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, para proteger a jóvenes LGBTQ en Puerto Rico de la peligrosa y desacreditada práctica conocida como “terapia reparativa o de conversión”.

“Felicitamos al gobernador Rosselló por su liderazgo en emitir esta orden para proteger a menores LGBTQ de Puerto Rico”, dijo Xavier Persad, Asesor Legislativo Sénior de HRC. “La peligrosa y desacreditada práctica conocida como ‘terapia de conversión’ no solo no funciona, sino que puede tener consecuencias que ponen en peligro muchas vidas. Es por eso, que ha sido condenada por todas las asociaciones médicas importantes de nuestro país. Puerto Rico ahora se suma a 15 estados y el Distrito de Columbia para proteger a menores LGBTQ de esta despreciable práctica, enviando un mensaje afirmativo y de aceptación para estos jóvenes”.

La orden ejecutiva del gobernador entra en vigencia de inmediato y requiere que el Secretario de Salud, el Administrador de la Administración de Servicios de Salud Mental y Adicciones y el Secretario de Desarrollo Económico y Comercio emitan regulaciones dentro de 90 días que restrinjan que instituciones de atención médica autorizadas y los trabajadores participen de la peligrosa práctica.

No hay evidencia creíble de que la “terapia de conversión” pueda cambiar la orientación sexual o la identidad o expresión de género de una persona. Por el contrario, la investigación ha demostrado claramente que dicha práctica supone riesgos devastadores para la salud de los jóvenes LGBTQ tales como depresión, disminución de la autoestima, abuso de sustancias, falta de vivienda y comportamiento suicida. La práctica inhumana está ampliamente condenada por todas las principales organizaciones médicas y de salud mental que incluyen a la American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association y la American Medical Association.

Desde julio de 2018, las personas transgénero del Estado Libre Asociado han podido actualizar el género en sus certificados de nacimiento y las leyes de no discriminación en materia de empleo de la comunidad incluyen la orientación sexual e identidad de género. A pesar del progreso, la homofobia y la transfobia continúan siendo una amenaza para la comunidad puertorriqueña LGBTQ.

Esta decisión agrega a Puerto Rico a una lista creciente de estados en todo el país y Washington D.C., que cuentan con protecciones contra la “terapia de conversión” para menores de edad. En enero, Nueva York se convirtió en el decimoquinto estado en promulgar leyes para proteger a jóvenes de la perjudicial práctica.
