Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Mayer Delivers A President’s Day Address: WATCH
The last season of Veep is here and it’s already making us sad it’ll be over soon.
What begins as a national address, soon hilariously, crumbles into a montage of upcoming episodes with plenty of zingers. “This entire country is getting more disgusting by the second!” Selina Mayer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) says at one point.
“That’s a demo we’re targeting mostly on Facebook,” an aide assures her.
HBO released the first trailer for the final season of the critically loved, Emmy-winning comedy Veep, today, giving us a preview of President Mayer’s attempt to win the hearts and minds of Americans again for the last time.

Lambert told People in September: “Not only did I have to make sure my voice held up and I know all the words… but it was also the perception of fans; I definitely had some concerns. This is not my music that I wrote: This is me, as a guest, with one of the greatest rock bands of all time, singing the songs that one of the greatest rock singers of all time brought to life.”
We can’t wait.
The Oscars will air on ABC Sunday, February 24th, at 8PM EST.

It’s time for the UT Legislature to act on hate crimes legislation #utpol #utsenate t.co/trV0am0cz9
— Derek Kitchen (@derekkitchen) February 18, 2019
Kitchen called the act “absolutely unacceptable” on his Facebook page.
“Our community must be safe from targeted violence,” Kitchen wrote on his page. “To be attacked simply for being gay violates our deepest shared values of decency and reiterates the urgency of including the LGBTQ+ community in our hate crimes law. We deserve the same protections as other minority groups that face violence based on identity.”
Trejo was waiting for an Uber in Salt Lake City when a man came up to him and asked if he was gay. When Trejo said he was, the suspect responds, “Oh then you’re gay?” and then began hitting him. The man also “pulled out a knife and pointed it toward the group and called them f*****. The man then got into a car,” which Trejo identified as a 2007 BMW X5, and drove away.
Salt Lake City police are now investigating, asking the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident by calling (801) 799-3000 and referencing case number 19-28822.

Young, Gay, Latinos Left Behind In The Battle Against HIV In the Bronx
Despite Donald Trump saying that he intends to end HIV transmissions in the United States by 2030 , The Guardian looks at the ways communities can be overlooked. Communities like the young, gay, Latinos in the Bronx whose HIV rates are significantly higher than their peers.
The latest CDC HIV Surveillance report says HIV rates have been increasing largely among young, gay and bi Latino men under 30.
Particularly moving is their story of a 19-year-old, HIV-positive man named Hector from the Bronx who tells his mother he’s gay for the first time after learning about his HIV status.
The good news: The US Department of Health has listed the Bronx as one of its target counties to reduce HIV rates.
But the Trump administration adds to the problems of people on the margins with HIV. It’s difficult to end HIV/AIDS when they are the most highly targeted of Trump’s anti-immigration hatred and vitriol
From The Guardian: In the very same State of the Union speech in which Trump made the HIV/AIDS announcement, he also spent a considerable amount of time railing against immigrants and demanding trans troops be thrown out of the army. “It doesn’t help when at the highest level government, somebody said: ‘We don’t want any more trans in the army,’ Guillermo Chacon, the president of the Latino Commission on AIDS said, in an interview at the Oasis Latino LGBTS Wellness Center in Manhattan. The center welcomes everyone (S is for straight) but specifically targets the Latino community. Chacon continued: “The signal you send is that it’s OK to reject people who are different from you.”
