Rihanna released her album Anti on January 28, 2016. It featured such hit songs as “Work,” “Needed Me,” and “Love on the Brain.” She earned six Grammy nominations thanks to the album.

DON’T STOP On the same day that the Michael Jackson family released a statement calling the HBO/Channel 4 documentary Leaving Neverland a “public lynching” of the late pop icon, Frank Ocean shared a photo of himself on his recently revealed Instagram in which he’s wearing an MJ shirt.

The shirt features art circa the singer’s 1991 album Dangerous. In the caption, Ocean said, simply, “MAN IN THE MIRROR.” That, of course, is a reference to Jackson’s 1988 Badsingle of the same name. He makes no specific mention of the documentary. At the time of this writing, Ocean’s post had garnered roughly 120,000 likes.

POSITIVE NEGATIVE The HIV-positive status of 14,200 people, as well as their identification numbers and contact details, has been leaked online, authorities in Singapore said Monday.Records leaked include 5,400 Singaporeans diagnosed as HIV-positive before January 2013, and 8,800 foreigners diagnosed before December 2011, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement.Patient names, identification numbers, phone numbers, addresses, HIV test results and medical information was included in the information leaked by a former Singaporean resident.”We are sorry for the anxiety and distress caused by this incident,” the statement said. “Our priority is the wellbeing of the affected individuals. Since 26 January, we have been progressively contacting the individuals to notify them and render assistance.”Leow Yangfa, a spokesman for LGBT charity Oogachaga, said the group was concerned people who have not disclosed their HIV status to employers, family or friends could face repercussions due to the leak.

This reminds us of the insufferable stigma, fear and discrimination that continues to surround people living with HIV in Singapore today,” Yangfa said. “Those of us who live without HIV cannot begin to imagine the shock, distress, pain and betrayal they must be going through right now.”

WATCH FOR FLYING PHONES Naomi Campbell And Liam Payne Were Spotted Together At A ConcertIt’s hard to imagine Naomi Campbell getting all soft and goofy over a boy. Yet she did, or at least she pretended to, recently when she exchanged kissy faces and heart emojis with Liam Payne, formally of One Direction. Now, according to Daily Star, things are getting serious and Naomi may even have been practicing writing “Mrs. Payne” in cursive on the inside of her Trapper Keeper (coincidentally, Mrs. Payne is also her dominatrix name). Naomi and Liam were spotted attending a concert together at London’s O2 Arena where they shared a private suite, reigniting rumors that the two have indeed been K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Put that in your Trapper Keeper and smoke it!

SERIAL GAY KILLER Bruce McArthur pleads guilty to eight counts of murder. The former landscaper was accused of preying on men with ties to Toronto’s Gay Village.

The case against Bruce McArthur highlighted tensions between the Toronto Police and the city’s LGBTQ+ communities, as they had long believed a serial killer was preying on men in the Village.

An independent investigation into how the Toronto Police deal with missing persons cases was struck last year. The review plans to consult with members of the public, groups, and experts and plans to conclude in 2020.

OGS Prominent LGBT activists and allies have come out in strong support of a politically engaged NYC Pride March and Rally to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.

Eschewing the corporate-saturated, highly policed nature of recent parades, the March is a truly grassroots action that mobilizes the community to address the many social and political battles that continue to be fought locally, nationally, and globally.

“I’ve seen first-hand the violence the vast militarized police state has done to our queer and trans communities,” said activist and whistleblower Chelsea Manning. “Our history is one of rebellion and solidarity. We must stand united and refuse to march with police, corporations, and the systemic violence they continue to inflict on immigrants, people of color, and marginalized folks across the queer and trans spectrum.”

This is a Gay Asian Country Love Song: WATCH

Out Filipino-Korean comedy writer and songwriter Nathan Ramos just released a “Gay Asian Country Love Song” and if you love humorous tracks that skewer stereotypical situations, dabble in innuendo, pop with pop culture references, and include twerking on the back of a pick-up truck you’re gonna love it.

Wrote Ramos: “I really wanted to create something that would subvert something I love, but is a traditionally very straight white male space – country music. I’ve loved country music my entire life, from Rascal Flatts to Dolly Parton, Martina McBride to Tim McGraw. Growing up in Ohio, I had dreams of being the first Asian American to be on the Billboard Country Music Charts. This is a love letter to both country music, and to being gay and Asian.”

HRC Responds: Jussie Smollett Targeted In Possible Hate Crime Attack

HRC Responds: Jussie Smollett Targeted In Possible Hate Crime Attack

This morning brought breaking news that longtime LGBTQ advocate & friend of HRC, Jussie Smollett, was the victim of a possible hate crime attack in which racist, homophobic slurs were hurled as he was reportedly beaten overnight in Chicago. HRC has reached out to Jussie Smollett as well as his colleagues at FOX to offer support, and is in touch with the FBI and Chicago Police Department to ensure the incident is fully and thoroughly investigated and that they will hold the perpetrators accountable .

“This shocking attack on our friend and tremendous advocate Jussie Smollett is, unfortunately, not an isolated incident,” HRC President Chad Griffin said. “There is an alarming epidemic of hate violence in our country that disproportionately targets Black people, LGBTQ people, and religious minorities — and particularly those living at the intersections of multiple identities.”

Last year, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released hate crime statistics for 2017 revealing a disturbing increase of 17 percent in reported hate crimes from the previous year. In 2017, 7,175 hate crime incidents were reported, 1,130 of which were based on sexual orientation bias and 119 on gender identity bias. These numbers reflect a five percent increase in reporting of hate crimes motivated by sexual orientation bias, and a four percent decrease in reporting of hate crimes motivated by gender identity bias.

“Last year alone, at least 26 transgender people, mostly transgender women of color, were brutally murdered,” Griffin continued. “This is an unacceptable crisis, and HRC continues to press for improved reporting, passage of state laws that protect LGBTQ individuals from hate crimes, and expanded education and training initiatives.”

Smollett joined HRC’s Equality Rocks campaign last year, a series sparking conversations about love, fairness and equality around the globe. In April 2018, Smollett introduced Queer Eye host Karamo Brown, presenting him with the HRC Visibility Award at the Houston Gala.

Smollett came out as gay in 2015 on Ellen, noting that among the reasons he publicly came out was so “people understood that they’re not alone.”

GLAAD stands with Jussie Smollett after hate-motivated attack in Chicago

GLAAD stands with Jussie Smollett after hate-motivated attack in Chicago

Jussie Smollett

Earlier today in Chicago, actor and singer Jussie Smollett (Empire) was attacked by two people who shouted both “racial and homophobic slurs” and poured an unknown chemical substance on him.

GLAAD stands with Jussie and against such hate violence.

Statement from GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis:

“Our hearts are with Jussie Smollett as he recovers from a hate-motivated and repugnant attack in Chicago. Jussie has always used his voice and talent to create a better world, and it is disgusting that anyone, especially someone who has done such good for so many, would be targeted by undeniable hatred.

GLAAD condemns these despicable acts as well as the racism and homophobia that drove them. Law enforcement needs to urgently conduct a thorough investigation and continue to be transparent with Chicago’s Black and LGBTQ communities who may be experiencing heightened fears of violence.

Jussie’s experience is sadly not unique in today’s America. Countless LGBTQ and people of color, as well as those who belong to both communities, are faced with hate-motivated violence on a near daily basis. We stand with Black and racial justice leaders to combat hate violence in all of its forms.”

Community members and allies are voicing support for Jussie using #WeLoveJussie and #JusticeForJussie

The most recent study from the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) reported the deadliest on record for the LGBT community. More information:

According to the Anti-Violence Project, the severity of hate violence against LGBTQ people is increasing. 46% of LGBTQ survivors of hate violence sustained an injury in 2017 compared to 31% in 2016, 42% reported seeking medical attention in 2017 compared to 23% in 2016, and 27% reported that weapons were used in 2017 compared to 13% in 2016.

Smollett, who stars on FOX’s Empire, came out as gay in 2016 and continues to be a powerful advocate for LGBTQ acceptance and racial justice. In October, Smollett teamed up with the Trevor Project for its “How to Save a Life” campaign, aimed at encouraging individuals to become volunteer crisis counselors for queer youth. Smollett also performed at the GLAAD San Francisco Gala in 2015 and introduced Cynthia Erivo at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards for a tribute to the victims of the Pulse nightclub attack.

Suicide rates in LGBTQ youth are staggering. You and I can help prevent this. I’m proud to partner with @TrevorProject who are reaching even more LGBTQ youth than ever thanks to @att, and need volunteers to help them grow. Read more and sign up here: t.co/4SJweqNFge pic.twitter.com/JceFGkiCgs
