Kevin Hart Gay Son Joke Resurfaces After He’s Named Oscar Host: WATCH

Kevin Hart Gay Son Joke Resurfaces After He’s Named Oscar Host: WATCH

A Kevin Hart gay son ‘comedy’ bit from a 2010 stand-up comedy special resurfaced on Twitter shortly after Hart was named as host of this year’s Academy Awards.

In the bit, Hart makes a “joke” about not wanting a gay son, saying, “One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear. Keep in mind, I’m not homophobic. I have nothing against gay people. Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, being a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.”

Hart continued, telling the audience he’s worried about “handling his son’s first gay moment correctly,” saying that when your kid has his “first gay moment…you gotta nip it in the bud right then.”

“Hey, stop! That’s gay! Quit it!”, says Hart, to gales of laughter. Hart then goes on to describe seeing another boy “grinding on [his] son’s ass,” telling the audience that he “panicked” and “knocked them both down.”

In a Reddit AMA in 2014, Hart was asked, “You find a lot of comedy in male insecurities, including a famous bit where you express fear that your son will be gay. You praised Frank Ocean at the MTV VMAs in 2012 for having the courage to come out, and recently said in an interview that you don’t do jokes any more about gays. What changed your mind on this subject of humor?”

He replied:  “It’s just a sensitive topic and I respect people of all orientations. So, it’s just best left alone.”

He later told Rolling Stone: “It’s about my fear. I’m thinking about what I did as a dad, did I do something wrong, and if I did, what was it? Not that I’m not gonna love my son or think about him any differently. The funny thing within that joke is it’s me getting mad at my son because of my own insecurities — I panicked. It has nothing to do with him, it’s about me. That’s the difference between bringing a joke across that’s well thought-out and saying something just to ruffle feathers. I wouldn’t tell that joke today, because when I said it, the times weren’t as sensitive as they are now. I think we love to make big deals out of things that aren’t necessarily big deals, because we can. These things become public spectacles. So why set yourself up for failure?”

In 2015, Hart said he would never play a gay role  because of his own insecurities, revealing that he turned down a spot in 2008’s Tropic Thunder because the role was for a “flagrant” gay character.

Said Hart: “Not because I have any ill will or disrespect, it’s because I feel like I can’t do that because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100%. Because of the insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Like, would I think people are going to think while I’m trying to do this is going to stop me from playing that part the way that I’m supposed to. ”

Some on Twitter expressed dismay at the selection of Hart as host of this year’s Oscars:

In the wake of the Kevin Hart news, let’s not forget he’s a fucking hypocrite and a homophobe.t.co/NpdqTUo1R5

Kevin Hart is going to be hosting #TheOscars on a year that is set to honor many films that have queer characters (A Star is Born, The Favourite, Can You Ever Forgive Me?). Hart has said that one of his biggest fears is his son being gay… Read below for more. Pretty sad. pic.twitter.com/r4qSTSzfsm

having a raving homophobe like kevin hart host an event as gay as the oscars is like if I was the announcer for the super bowl

— Anthony Oliveira (@meakoopa) December 5, 2018

[2/2] You perpetuate the idea that being gay is wrong, that the worse thing in the world would be to have a gay son, that “femininity” in males equals “homosexuality”. You do not deserve to be on the Oscars stage presenting queer movies because YOU ARE IGNORANT.

— Jerry Mandré (@JerryMandre) December 5, 2018

Remember that HILARIOUS @KevinHart4real bit where he’s like “One of my BIGGEST FEARS is my son growing up and being gay!” OMG UR SO FUNNY

— Nick Fauble (@faublehead) December 5, 2018

At the Oscars, I hope Kevin Hart tells more jokes about his fears that his kids might be gay because wouldn’t that just be so FUN??? For everybody involved??? Delightful, even!

And that interview when you said you won’t play a gay character because it makes you uncomfortable BUTYOURENOTHOMOPHOBIC!

HRC Responds to Lame Duck Power Grab by Wisconsin Republicans, Calls on Gov. Walker to Veto Leg.

HRC released the following statement in response to Wisconsin Republicans’ vote to strip power from incoming Governor Tony Evers and incoming Attorney General Josh Kaul.

“Elections matter and on November 6, Wisconsin voters came out in record numbers to reject the toxic leadership of Governor Scott Walker and Attorney General Brad Schimel,” said HRC Wisconsin State Director Wendy Strout. “Rather than accept the will of the people, Republican legislators have vindictively jammed through a sweeping set of bills designed to undermine the power and authority of our incoming, democratically-elected leaders. This illegitimate power grab is an affront to our state’s values. Rather than cement his legacy as a partisan hack, we urge Governor Scott Walker to do the right thing and veto this bill.”

Homophobic Vandal Plasters Threatening, Anti-Gay Across Massachusetts City’s Downtown Area: VIDEO

The mayor of Attleboro, Massachusetts is speaking out after anti-gay stickers were plastered all over his city’s downtown streets.

Said Mayor Paul Heroux to NBC10: “This is not characteristic of Attleboro at all. The (police) chief contacted me first thing Sunday morning and the police took them down immediately…It’s a very diverse community. It’s disappointing someone would do this because it doesn’t reflect who we are or our values.”

Police are attempting to figure out who the homophobic vandal is by examining surveillance cameras in the area.

Heroux told WBZ: “It was certainly hate speech and it was certainly vandalism and destruction of public property.”

Tinder Presents The Year in Swipe®

Tinder Presents The Year in Swipe®

Tinder Presents The Year in Swipe®

2018 was an eye-opener for us all.

Avocados make their way into the hearts and stomachs of citizens around the world. Engineers are the new It girls. The Aussies can’t stop surfing. And the Russians have taken up jogging.

The Year in Swipe® brings you what’s trending on Tinder across the globe—from top Anthems and favorite foods to celebrity crushes, most talked about TV, swipe-worthy events and the most popular slang. What they say is true: If you want to know a generation’s true character, give them Tinder. Are we serious? Deadass.

You may think you’re alone in your own corner of the earth but rest assured, not only is the world swiping with you, they’re liking what they see. The data don’t lie—this is one good-looking planet, full of pizza vibes and possibility.

The Year in Swipe uncovered many things about the world we live in. It showed us how Ariana Grande sprinkled a bit of wokeness onto the world: She taught us that God is a Woman, which would be great news, if only she didn’t make so much less than the male gods.

Tinder Presents The Year in Swipe®

It uncovered the shocking: Los Angeles is the top city in the world for Tinder users to Passport into (and you all pretend you can’t stand us … liars!) And the not-so-shocking: The Americans are all talking about gluten, though no one is eating it. Surely the Spaniards are laughing right now, over their croquetas de jamón.

It highlighted the things that bring us together, like Drake, pizza and sitcoms from the early 2000s:

  • Drake’s In My Feelings was the #1 Spotify Anthem for Tinder users across all countries with Spotify, with Ariana Grande’s empowering hit, God is a Woman, making the top 10 in 6 countries, including the U.S., UK, Brazil, Spain, Australia and Japan.
  • In the U.S., U.K. and Australia, the Friends ‘How You Doin?’ GIF reigned supreme. But in Brazil, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, India, Japan and South Korea, the Waving Fox took the top spot as the most-used GIF.
  • Pizza was among the top 10 most mentioned foods in people’s bio across 9 different countries! Just proving that, no matter where you live, pizza is a universal language.
  • Beer pairs well with pizza as one of the most popular emojis listed in bios, making it into the top 10 for all countries, except the UK (which preferred posting puppies), Germany (which chose wine) and Russia (who selected dancing).

And it showed us that many Europeans just say “Nope” to smoking:

  • Users Germany, Spain and Russia each had the “no smoking” emoji within their top 10 most popular listed in bios.

Perhaps what it teaches us most of all, is that we are one world, with many quirks—some in common, some not—ever-curious to find out what’s around the bend.

Beto O’Rourke Met with Obama at D.C. Offices

Beto O’Rourke Met with Obama at D.C. Offices

Beto O’Rourke met with Barack Obama at his Washington D.C. office as he weighs whether to jump into the 2020 presidential race.

The Washington Post reports: ‘The meeting, which was held Nov. 16 at the former president’s offices in Foggy Bottom, came as former Obama aides have encouraged the Democratic House member to run, seeing him as capable of the same kind of inspirational campaign that caught fire in the 2008 presidential election. The meeting was the first sign of Obama getting personally involved in conversations with O’Rourke, who, despite his November loss in a U.S. Senate race in Texas, has triggered more recent discussion and speculation than any other candidate in the burgeoning 2020 field.’

TMZ asked O’Rourke last week if he was planning to run for president and bring back democracy:
