Trump on Michael Cohen’s Guilty Plea: ‘He’s a Weak Person…Trying to Get a Reduced Sentence’ – WATCH
Donald Trump spoke to reporters following his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen’s guilty plea in federal court. Cohen said that he lied to a Senate intelligence panel about Trump Tower in Moscow.
Said Trump: “Cohen is being a weak person and trying to get a reduced sentence so he’s lying about a project that everybody knew about…He was convicted with a fairly long-term sentence with things unrelated to the Trump Organization…What he’s trying to do — and it’s very simple, he’s got himself a big prison sentence and he’s trying to get a much lesser prison sentence by making up a story”
Trump also told reporters that he worked with Cohen for such a long time “because a long time ago he did me a favor. A long time ago he did me a favor.”

HRC CALLS ON SENATE TO REJECT EXTREMIST JUDICIAL NOMINEE THOMAS FARR: “Thomas Farr has spent his career intimidating and disenfranchising African-American voters,” said David Stacy, HRC Government Affairs Director. “Americans deserve judges we can trust to apply our laws faithfully and administer equal justice under those laws.” Farr has a long history of representing North Carolina in legal battles with voting rights groups who accuse the state of discriminating against African-American voters. In one case, the attempts to disenfranchise voters of color was so blatant that a federal judge asserted that the regulations “target African-Americans with almost surgical precision.” More from HRC.
Thomas Farr’s nomination is part of a larger trend of the Trump-Pence administration naming extreme and unqualified nominees to serve on the bench — some of whom will serve lifetime appointments.

DESPICABLE — ICE REFUSING TO RELEASE REQUIRED REPORT ON BRUTAL DEATH OF TRANS ASYLUM SEEKER ROXANA HERNÁNDEZ: After an autopsy report strongly indicated Hernández was beaten in U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) custody before her death, the agency is falsely claiming its press release announcing her death constitutes its report and is attempting to undermine the physician who performed the autopsy, INTO’s Kate Sosin (@shoeleatherkate) reports. Lynly Egyes, litigation director at the Transgender Law Center (TLC), which is filing a wrongful death suit in Hernández’s case, told INTO: “Accountability dies in the darkness that they’re creating. They’re claiming that they have this review or that she wasn’t abused in custody, but aren’t submitting the information to those who are requesting it.” HRC in July sent Freedom of Information Act request to ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for all records related to the detention of Hernández and her death on May 25. Gay UT-Austin Student: Officials Told Me No Dorm Visitors Because I’m Gay and People are Uncomfortable: WATCH
A University of Texas-Austin freshman says she was forbid from having visitors at her private all-female dorm because she’s gay and that makes people uncomfortable.
John Wright at Outsmart reported that Kaj Baker was told that people at Scottish Rite Dormitory, a private, off-campus facility that provides all-female housing to UT students, were “uncomfortable” that she and her girlfriend were studying together, brushing their teeth together in the bathroom, and wearing pajamas.
When Baker asked dorm director Mary Mazurek, “Why are people uncomfortable?”, Mazurek replied: “Because some people are not comfortable with your sexual orientation.”
EXCLUSIVE: TNC reporter @elizwsmith gives us an inside look at a dormitory’s response to one freshman’s relationship. TNC asked Scottish Rite Dormitory for a comment but they did not respond in time. Tune in after the holiday break for more updates. pic.twitter.com/2Oa5KF2Kip

Said Baker: “That’s when I realized that it wasn’t about the rules; we were being targeted for being gay…I guess it hurts that they’re saying that other people don’t feel comfortable in the dorm because of us, but honestly it’s the reverse.”
She also told CBS Austin: “The list of complaints weren’t us doing anything wrong. We weren’t harming anyone. We weren’t doing PDA. We weren’t breaking any rules. It was us existing. They told me that girls need to feel safe here, and I asked her if we made people feel unsafe. She said, ‘I’m not going there. I’m not going there just yet.’”
Said Mazurek in a statement to The Daily Texan: “Scottish Rite Dormitory strives to create an environment which allows our residents to focus on completing their higher education goals while meeting our parent’s expectation of creating an atmosphere that fosters the growth and well-being of their daughters while attending the University.”
