Three Yale Classmates of Brett Kavanaugh Say He Lied Under Oath About His Drinking and Behavior: WATCH
At least three college classmates of Brett Kavanaugh have come forward to say that Brett Kavanaugh lied under oath about his drinking habits and behavior at Yale.
Liz Swisher and Lynne Brookes spoke to MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell about their experiences (below).
Charles Ludington, a Yale classmate of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh who spent time drinking with the judge, released a statement on Sunday night to the press, accusing Kavanaugh of lying under oath about his drinking.
Ludington said in the statement that Kavanaugh was a belligerent, aggressive drunk who hung out with jocks, drank other alcohol products in addition to beer, and he once saw Kavanaugh throw a drink in a man’s face as a response to a semi-hostile remark.
Wrote Ludington: “In recent days I have become deeply troubled by what has been a blatant mischaracterization by Brett himself of his drinking at Yale. When I watched Brett and his wife being interviewed on Fox News on Monday, and when I watched Brett deliver his testimony under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, I cringed. For the fact is, at Yale, and I can speak to no other times, Brett was a frequent drinker, and a heavy drinker. I know, because, especially in our first two years of college, I often drank with him. On many occasions I heard Brett slur his words and saw him staggering from alcohol consumption, not all of which was beer. When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive. On one of the last occasions I purposely socialized with Brett, I witnessed him respond to a semi-hostile remark, not by defusing the situation, but by throwing his beer in the man’s face and starting a fight that ended with one of our mutual friends in jail.”
Ludington suggested that what he knew about Kavanaugh and had seen over the past week does not jibe with what is acceptable behavior for a federal judge: “I do not believe that the heavy drinking or even loutish behavior of an 18- or even 21-year-old should condemn a person for the rest of his life. I would be a hypocrite to think so. However, I have direct and repeated knowledge about his drinking and his disposition while drunk. And I do believe that Brett’s actions as a 53-year-old federal judge matter. If he lied about his past actions on national television, and more especially while speaking under oath in front of the United States Senate, I believe those lies should have consequences. It is truth that is at stake, and I believe that the ability to speak the truth, even when it does not reflect well upon oneself, is a paramount quality we seek in our nation’s most powerful judges.”
Kavanaugh lied under oath, said Ludington: “I can unequivocally say that in denying the possibility that he ever blacked out from drinking, and in downplaying the degree and frequency of his drinking, Brett has not told the truth.”
Ludington also said he would be sharing this information with the FBI.

Kathy Griffin Reacts to Shout-Out from Matt Damon’s Brett Kavanaugh in SNL Sketch
Kathy Griffin reacted to being called out by Matt Damon’s Brett Kavanaugh in the opening sketch of SNL’s season premiere on Saturday night. In the sketch, Damon’s Kavanaugh sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee and spat, “I’m here tonight, because of a sham. A political con job orchestrated by the Clintons. And George Soros….and Kathy Griffin!”
Tweeted Griffin: “I couldn’t be happier. I’ve always wanted to be part of the deep state which includes the Clintons and George Soros.”

Griffin received the Ally Leadership Award from Equality California over the weekend. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Griffin was honored “for her activism, including her campaign against Proposition 8, named the California Marriage Protection Act, which attempted to only allow marriage between a man and a woman. She worked to try to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” military policy and raised $5 million for HIV/AIDS prevention and queer civil rights organizations.”

WE BELIEVE DR. BLASEY FORD. THE WHITE HOUSE MUST WITHDRAW KAVANAUGH, OR THE SENATE MUST REJECT: “Dr. Christine Blasey Ford has bravely come forward, delivered credible and compelling testimony about her sexual assault, and has provided significant detail that would allow the Senate Judiciary Committee to corroborate her allegations. Despite this, Donald Trump, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have refused to fully investigate her claims or halt the proceedings to gather more information… This is unacceptable,” said HRC President Chad Griffin (@ChadHGriffin). “In light of what we have heard, and Senator Grassley’s refusal to pursue an FBI investigation, the Trump-Pence Administration must withdraw Kavanaugh’s nomination immediately. If they do not, members of the Senate must oppose and vote against his confirmation.” More from HRC.

Chris Evans and Other Celebs Slam Kanye West After ‘SNL’ Pro-Trump MAGA Rant, Call to Abolish 13th Amendment
Kanye West concluded a disastrous performance on SNL Saturday night by donning a MAGA hat and going on a pro-Trump rant. He was reportedly booed offstage.
Said Kanye, who also announced he’d now be known as Ye: “The blacks want always Democrats … you know it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out the home and put them on welfare… does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan. There’s so many times I talk to, like, a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist.’ Well, uh, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
But it didn’t end there. Following the show, Kanye West tweeted that the 13th Amendment (outlawing slavery) should be abolished before amending his thoughts under an avalanche of criticism. In a photo accompanying the tweet, he proudly displayed the MAGA hat.
Tweeted the rapper: “this represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love”

Who loved Kanye’s display of MAGA-ness? Trump, of course, who tweeted: “Like many, I don’t watch Saturday Night Live (even though I past hosted it) – no longer funny, no talent or charm. It is just a political ad for the Dems. Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (despite being told “no”), was great. He’s leading the charge!”

Is anyone even a little bit shocked that @kanyewest was bullied backstage for wanting to wear a #maga hat on SNL?

Celebs responded.
Chris Evans tweeted: “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.”

Kanye thinks wearing a MAGA hat is a funny, edgy gesture when it’s actually him siding with a dangerous racist and giving cover for his racism.

HRC Celebrates LGBTQ History Month Highlighting Out Candidates Making History
As we mark the beginning of LGBTQ History Month, HRC is proud to honor openly LGBTQ candidates running to make history this November and the LGBTQ trailblazers who helped pave the way for them.
While millions of LGBTQ people across the nation are under attack from Donald Trump and Mike Pence, more than 400 openly LGBTQ candidates are taking a stand against the administration’s hateful and discriminatory policies and are running for public office at every level of government — many for the first time.
Of course, LGBTQ candidates aren’t a new phenomenon. Harvey Milk made history in 1977 when he was elected to serve as a San Francisco City Supervisor, becoming one of the first openly LGBTQ elected officials in the country. Other pioneers include José Julio Sarria, who was the first openly gay candidate to run for public office in the U.S.
Today’s openly LGBTQ trailblazers include U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, who broke barriers in 2012 by becoming the first openly LGBTQ person elected to the U.S. Senate — and the first woman Wisconsin voters sent to the Senate. HRC is proud to endorse Baldwin’s re-election bid. Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema was the first openly bisexual member elected to the U.S. House in 2012 and could become the nation’s first openly bi U.S. senator if she wins her bid in November.
Pro-equality candidates including Angie Craig, Chris Pappas, Gina Ortiz Jones, Lauren Baer, Rick Neal and Sharice Davids would each be their states’ first openly LGBTQ representatives to serve in Congress.
Additionally, Christine Hallquist, Jared Polis and Lupe Valdez are making historic bids to become the nation’s first openly LGBTQ governors to serve in their respective states, and Kate Brown, the first openly bisexual person to be elected governor is seeking re-election.
LGBTQ candidates are also looking to make waves down ballot and in state legislatures nationwide.
Nelson Araujo could make history as Nevada’s first openly gay Latinx person elected to statewide office. Jeremy Moss would be the first openly gay member of the Michigan state senate. Nickie Antonio — the first out person elected to the Ohio state house — would be the state’s first LGBTQ official elected to the senate. Malcolm Kenyatta, if elected, would become Pennsylvania’s first LGBTQ person of color to serve in the Keystone State’s legislature.
In an historic wave of LGBTQ progress and trans visibility, eight openly transgender Americans were elected to office last November — demonstrating the power of the millions of equality voters uniting to resist the Trump-Pence administration’s dangerous anti-LGBTQ agenda.
With so much at stake, join HRC in making sure these LGBTQ candidates are elected up and down the ballot this November. Take action today and help us turn out the vote and finally pull the emergency brake on the Trump-Pence administration once and for all.
