Andi Belle: “back” in Action

Andi Belle: “back” in Action

A few of you may have noticed I was moving rather delicately during my last broadcast. My back was absolutely giving me fits all weekend. I’m not quite sure what I did… maybe I got carried away on my Sybian? I feel so much better now and today I thought I would go buy some new lingerie. I hit four stores and couldn’t find anything I liked! Does no one sell trashy lingerie anymore? I found a few things I like on my “wishlist” and am attaching the link below. In the meantime I guess I’ll check out the nearest adult toy store. I miss Frederick’s of Hollywood! (Now I’m really giving away my age lol!) Hope to see you all online soon!Kisses!Andi B

HRC Foundation Youth Ambassadors to Other Young People: We #WontBeErased

HRC Foundation Youth Ambassadors to Other Young People: We #WontBeErased

Never in our lifetime has an election been more important.

Last week was horrifying and tumultuous, beginning with an explosive New York Times report that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) intends to redefine “sex” to intentionally exclude LGBTQ people and their families from non-discrimination protections. It’s just the latest effort in a consistent, multi-pronged campaign by the Trump-Pence administration over the past two years to undermine the rights and welfare of LGBTQ people.

Through it all, LGBTQ young people are too often told that their lives and their identities are simply political pawns in this administration’s hateful agenda. However, HRC is working to combat that.

HRC Foundation’s Parents for Transgender Equality Council released a letter signed by more than 1,500 parents denouncing the dangerous proposal. HRC’s Welcoming Schools Program released a resource for educators who may have questions about what this proposal means for their students, and how to continue to support them.

In the face of this latest attack, HRC asked some of our HRC Foundation Youth Ambassadors to share messages of hope with other transgender, non-binary and intersex young people.

“Just know that there are people who stand with you. We are speaking up, fighting back and we won’t stop until our voices are heard and have equal protections under the law.”
— Lucas Segal, Pronouns: He/Him/His

“I am sick of the Trump administration attacking my community. If you are struggling with your identity, please believe me when I say you are perfect just the way you are and that you are loved by millions.”
— Roddy Biggs, Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs, He/Him/His

“Find what fulfills you and what makes you feel safe. Remember to be gentle with yourself because your first priority should always be you. You are never alone and that may be the most important thing to remember. We use our privilege of being visible so that you can always remember that you are not in this fight alone.”
— Sone Yun, Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs

“We will continue to fight this administration until we have no more fight left in us. We are a community united as one and in the power of LOVE. Love will always win and we will continue to resist.”
— Zachary Mallory, Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs

“As a person of color, I am sick of seeing my trans siblings being assaulted and murdered. It’s time we recognize them and their gender. It’s time to end the violence toward trans people.”
— Justin Jones, Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs, He/Him/His

“Just know that we are strong, we are powerful and our stories are heard and felt around the world. Keep speaking out and know you are not alone. You are valid and #WontBeErased. Our ancestors fought for us, and we will fight for future generations.”
— Jonathan Leggette, Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs, He/Him/His

Despite the Trump-Pence administration’s continued attempts, transgender, non-binary and intersex people can never be erased. We must hold accountable those who fan the flames of hate through their words — or their silence. Make your voice heard for LGBTQ young people who might not yet be able to vote, and commit to #TurnOut on November 6.

KENTUCKY. Man apologizes for dressing his kid as Adolf Hitler while he wore a Nazi soldier uniform. “I think it was in bad taste for me to let my child to wear that, probably for me to wear that. It didn’t occur to me. I thought it was a bad decision on my part.”

PITTSBURGH. Jewish leaders tell Trump he’s not welcome there: “Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted. You have also deliberately undermined the safety of people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. Yesterday’s massacre is not the first act of terror you incited against a minority group in our country.”

DUNCAN HUNTER. Congressman could still serve after felony conviction: “If Hunter wins re-election and is subsequently convicted, there is no constitutional provision or House rule that explicitly requires him to lose his seat, even if he is imprisoned and unable to vote on behalf of his district. Whether he would be pressured to resign could largely depend on which party comes out on top in congressional elections.”

EVAN GREER. Trump’s attacks on trans people should be a wake up call: “The LGBTQ community needs to unite behind our most vulnerable members like we’ve rarely done before. To do that, we’ll have to grapple with our history. We can’t go back in time, or undo what’s been done. But we can commit to doing better. We can respect and honor those who fought before us, and learn from the moments where they failed.”

2020. Hillary Clinton says she’d like to be president: “The work would be work that I feel very well prepared for having been in the Senate for eight years, having been a diplomat in the State Department.”

TRANS ERASURE. 1,500 parents of transgender children send letter to Trump denouncing plans to erasure transgender people: ‘Today, HRC released a letter to Donald Trump and Mike Pence denouncing their administration’s proposed regulations narrowly defining “sex” to exclude transgender people and to eliminate federal civil rights protections for LGBTQ people in the process. The letter, signed by more than 1,500 parents from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., was organized by HRC’s Parents for Transgender Equality Council, a coalition of the nation’s leading parent-advocates working for equality and fairness for transgender people.’

HEALTH ATTACKS. Diplomats face new ordeals in U.S.: ‘For the past 18 months, more than two dozen U.S. diplomatic staffers once stationed in Cuba and China have endured an ordeal that isequal parts medical mystery, political stand-off and bureaucratic muddle. Cuba and China deny any role. While the U.S. hasn’t named a culprit, it says the “health attacks” caused brain injury and other physical harm. Physicians enlisted by the State Department have identified what they call a “Brain Network Disorder” acquired by U.S. personnel serving abroad, say U.S. officials, that includes structural changes to the brain not found in any previously known disorder.’

HRC Sends FOIA Request for All Records of Trump-Pence Administration’s Attempt to Redefine “Gender”

HRC Sends FOIA Request for All Records of Trump-Pence Administration’s Attempt to Redefine “Gender”

Today, HRC sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for all records related to the Trump-Pence administration’s efforts to redefine the word “gender” in order to exclude transgender people from federal civil rights protections and enable discrimination against LGBTQ people in general.

On October 21, 2018, the New York Times published a report that “the Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth.” According to the report, HHS drafted a memo to establish the legal definition of “sex,” and the “agency’s proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with […] Any dispute about one’s sex would have to be clarified using genetic testing.”

“This effort by the Trump-Pence Administration to erase transgender people in the public square and exclude them from federal civil rights protections is horrific and alarming,” said HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow. “It is imperative we understand the key players pushing for this destructive action along with their motivations, analysis, and rationale.”

HHS will likely also encourage other federal agencies to follow suit in their severely restrictive and narrow definition of sex. The administration’s decision could have severe consequences for LGBTQ people across the federal government. For example:

  • A transgender person could have their insurance deny them coverage for transition related care
  • Same-sex couples and their families could be turned away from emergency shelters
  • A transgender woman could be turned away from a hospital for a broken ankle
  • A gay man could be harassed about being gay at a job skills training
  • An elderly transgender person or same-sex couple could be denied in home meal service
  • A transgender girl could be forced to live in a youth shelter for boys

The Equality Act would finally add clear, comprehensive non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people to our nation’s civil rights laws. In addition to having bipartisan support in Congress with 246 cosponsors, 121 major corporations have also joined HRC’s Business Coalition for the Equality Act. Discrimination is a real and persistent problem for far too many LGBTQ Americans. HRC polling has found that nearly two-thirds of self-identified LGBTQ Americans report experiencing discrimination.
