At an appearance with Randy Rainbow at New York’s Paramount Theatre on Saturday night, Rosie O’Donnell told the crowd that Lady Gaga is coming to Broadway in Funny Girl as Fanny Brice. O’Donnell also said that she’d be playing her mother.
Rosie O’Donnell just said on stage that Lady Gaga will play Funny Girl on Broadway and she’ll play her mother.

Broadway World was among those noting O’Donnell’s remarks but added, “there has been no confirmation of any of this information at this time.
Newsday adds: “Broadway buzz has been looking at a return of the Jule Styne musical, the semi-autobiographical story of Brice and her relationship with gambler Nick Arnstein, ever since a planned production in 2012, directed by Bartlett Sher and rumored to star Lauren Ambrose, was shelved. A 2016 London production, starring Sheridan Smith, was filmed and is due to hit theaters on Oct. 24.”

Witnessing the Continued Struggle for LGBTQ Equality in Lebanon Against an Attempted Shutdown

Last week, I traveled to Beirut to represent HRC Foundation at the Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFE), which Lebanese authorities unsuccessfully sought to shut down on the second day of the conference.
The Muslim Scholars Association speciously alleged that the participants, which were LGBTQ advocates from the Middle East and North Africa region, were promoting “perversion” and drug use. The Lebanese General Security pressured AFE’s Executive Director Georges Azzi to sign a pledge promising to cancel the event and never organize one in the country again. He courageously resisted.
While authorities were able to force the conference to move to a nearby hotel, they did not stop these LGBTQ advocates from organizing to protect their rights to freedom of assembly and expression.
“While we were dancing, the hotel staff – emboldened by the menace of General Security and religious fundamentalists – tried to shut us down, falsely claiming we were having sex in the hallways,” said Jessica Stern, executive director of OutRight Action International, in a powerful reflection on the conference. “While AFE capably managed yet another threat, we experienced one of Lebanon’s customary power outages, plunging us into darkness. It didn’t matter. We were a room of survivors.”
In a statement to the press, the AFE said: “This is not the first time that religious extremist groups, in collaboration with Lebanese authorities, attempt, and sometimes succeed, to shut down events related to gender and sexuality rights.”
During the conference, advocates shared what their work looks like at home and discussed the struggles and accomplishments throughout the region. Most importantly, advocates continued to remain in solidarity throughout. As the conference came to a close, we were all emotionally exhausted but extremely proud of persevering through attempts to take away our rights.
I was honored to connect with the more than 100 advocates from 12 different countries, including past HRC Global Innovators from Tunisia and Lebanon, and to learn about the brave and important work they are doing to advance equality in their home countries. I was also excited to share with them HRC programs including our Global Innovative Advocacy Summit and Global Fellows that support and build on their work.
I understand more than ever how these advocates’ work truly advances LGBTQ rights and I’m so proud that HRC can be in solidarity with AFE and all advocates for equality in the Middle East and North Africa.
HRC urges Lebanese authorities to respect and protect an individual’s right to freedom of expression and of civil society’s right to freedom of assembly.

Chief Justice John Roberts ignored judicial misconduct complaints sent to him about Brett Kavanaugh: ‘People familiar with the matter say the allegations made in the complaints — that Kavanaugh was dishonest and lacked judicial temperament during his Senate testimony — had already been widely discussed in the Senate and in the public realm. Roberts did not see an urgent need for them to be resolved by the judicial branch while he continued to review the incoming complaints, they said. The situation is highly unusual, said legal experts and several people familiar with the matter. Never before has a Supreme Court nominee been poised to join the court while a fellow judge recommends that misconduct claims against that nominee warrant review.’
HOPE HICKS. Former Trump aide joins FOX News: ‘Hope Hicks, former right-hand woman to President Donald Trump and his trusted communications chief, is set to join Fox as an executive vice president and Chief Communications Officer. According to a press release, Hicks will join “New Fox”, the company left following Twenty-First Century Fox’s upcoming merger with Disney.’

Donald Trump spoke to reporters on Monday as he boarded a helicopter to Florida for a speech to law enforcement officers. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees the Mueller investigation and has been rumored to be on Trump’s chopping block, was scheduled to attend the speech and fly there with Trump on Air Force One.
Said Trump to reporters: “We’ll be talking on the plane.I actually have a good relationship [with Rosenstein] other than there’s been no collusion, folks, no collusion. But I have a very good relationship, we’ll see…I get along very well with him. I didn’t know Rod before [becoming president], but I got to know him.”
Trump also bashed Democrats and said they “tortured” Brett Kavanaugh and his family over the multiple sexual allegations against him. He warned that talk of impeachment and the Democrats behavior would have consequences on November 6.
