Calgary Pride Parade 2

Calgary celebrates Pride a bit late in the season… the week ending on Labour Day in September, parka weather for some. On the grand scale of things, Calgary’s LGBT community is not huge, and there isn’t a physical “village” or neighbourhood or centre that is considered to be our “gay central,” and there’s only 1 gay bar in town (I think, as Larry and I don’t get out that much). People connect in different ways. But I do enjoy going to the Pride Parade and celebration space on Prince’s Island, and all the energy, spirit, colour and fun that goes along with that. This might be a large upload, so apologies in advance to those not fascinated… There will documentary photos just capturing what I saw, and others that are just interesting in and of themselves.

FX’s spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., airs Tuesday night. The new show will follow the Mayans Motorcycle Club, and centers on a Latinx family. Santo Padre, where the show takes place, will have a lesbian mayor, and both she and her wife are promised to make regular appearances on the show. In the premiere, EZ’s fate is in flux as the M.C. and the cartel find a common adversary. Mayans M.C.: Tuesday, 10pm on FX.

On Friday, a new episode of Syfy’s Killjoys airs. Now in its fourth season, the adventure science fiction show follows three mercenaries around the planets as they fight bad guys, and uncover secrets from their past. The show has also introduced several queer characters over the years, including bartender Pree, who has become a staple of the ensemble. In this week’s episode, an awkward Jaqobis homecoming takes a deadly turn as Dutch and Zeph risk everything for science. Killjoys: Friday, 10pm on Syfy.
