Brett Kavanaugh Sits Down for State TV Interview at Behest of Trump: WATCH

Brett Kavanaugh and his wife Ashley sat down with FOX News reporter Martha MacCallum last night in a desperate attempt to persuade the public that he did not attempt to rape a former high school classmate, shove his genitalia in the face of a college classmate, or sexually assault any women.

Kavanaugh was accused by two women, high school classmate Christine Blasey Ford and college classmate Deborah Ramirez, of separate sexual assault incidents. Meanwhile, attorney Michael Avenatti claimed to represent another woman with allegations against the judge, and the Montgomery Sentinel reported on a potential fourth allegation.

The Daily Beast reports: ‘By choosing to go public, Kavanaugh added another layer of drama to a Supreme Court confirmation fight already defined by its intense political undertones. But the White House felt it had no other choice than to escalate even further. A White House official said that Trump aides had presented Kavanaugh’s team with several media options, which included granting the joint interview to other networks and interviewers. Ultimately, both parties agreed on MacCallum’s show. It was a move that left some in Kavanaugh’s inner circle feeling queasy. According to a Fox News staffer, multiple people on Kavanaugh’s team were uneasy about booking the judge on the program, viewing the media play as risky due to its unpredictability. The staffer told The Daily Beast that it was the White House that reached out to the network to set up the interview, and that the outreach did not come from Kavanaugh’s own team.’

Kamala Harris is Working With HRC to Make Real Change This Election—Join Us!

Post submitted by Senator Kamala Harris.

We are at an inflection point in this country.

Over the last year, we’ve witnessed persistent assaults on our deepest values and our collective ideals. But, we’ve survived each one … by uniting and fighting together.

Now, with the upcoming midterm elections, we have the power to keep progress moving forward. And that power is in our vote.

This National Voter Registration Day, I’m partnering with HRC to get people registered to vote. In the last year alone, almost 30K people have registered because of HRC and, with your help, I’m hoping we can add 10K to that total TODAY — will you take the time to verify your registration status?

The stakes in this year’s election are higher than ever: We need to take back the House with pro-equality leaders.

HRC has one of the smartest, most aggressive strategies to make this happen. And over half of all of their endorsed candidates are women, and a third are people of color. We can make history in races across the country, but we can’t do it without you.

I know times like this can be daunting and that these battles don’t seem easy to win, but these are the moments where we’re reminded of the power of our shared humanity and strength. No matter who you are, your voice matters. And, our individual voices are stronger when we raise them as one.

Commit to vote this National Voter Registration Day by checking your current voter registration status. Then, share this important message with your friends and family. Remarkable change is just on the horizon — will you join me and HRC as a part of it?

P.S. Want to up your involvement before Election Day? Take a look at HRC’s Equality Voter Action Center and see what you can do in your area!

Queer Greek Activist and Performer Dies After Horrific Brutal Beating Captured on Video

Queer Greek Activist and Performer Dies After Horrific Brutal Beating Captured on Video

Zak Kostopoulos, a queer Greek activist and performer, died following a brutal mob beating in Central Athens that was captured on camera (above, warning: graphic).

The Athens daily Kathemerini reported: “The incident occurred last Friday morning on Gladstonos Street near Omonia Square. The victim allegedly entered the empty jewelry store and panicked when he was locked inside. Initial reports claimed Kostopoulos was trying to rob the store, but others said he was trying to avoid a brawl that had started nearby. Footage from CCTV cameras across the street published in media show the victim stumbling while trying to pick up a fire extinguisher to break the glass door. He then tried to break a street-level display window on the storefront. The store owner was alerted to the incident and returned to his store. The camera footage shows two men, one of whom is reportedly the store owner, kicking him repeatedly in the head as he crawls through the broken glass out into the street. One of the dozen bystanders called an ambulance and police. A separate video that emerged showed the victim attempting to escape after receiving first aid by paramedics, only to trip over a nearby table. It also showed a policeman beating him again as Kostopoulos is already lying on the ground.”

Kostopoulos died on the way to the hospital, according to police. The store owner was charged with manslaughter while his accomplice, seen kicking Kostopoulos in the video, is reportedly still at large.

The website Neos Kosmos reported: “A well-known figure among the LGBTQI community, Kostopoulos was an activist for both gender-related issues, as well as for the HIV-positive community, raising awareness for people living with HIV. He had been active through Positive Voice, the HIV-positive association of Greece (which works with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation). He was also a popular drag show artist, performing under the moniker Zackie Oh. A protest rally in his memory was held in Athens on Saturday night, with the participation of about 500 people.”
