JOSH SHAPIRO. Pennsylvania attorney general says there is evidence the Vatican knew about the predator priest cover-up.
NEW YORK. Cynthia Nixon, Andrew Cuomo battle over room temperature for first and only debate: ‘Ms. Nixon’s team has publicly accused the debate host, WCBS-TV, of catering to all of the governor’s demands to land the debate, and they are concerned that the debate hall at Hofstra University on Long Island might feel like an ice rink when they arrive. (Mr. Cuomo is famous for preferring to make his public appearances in deeply chilled conditions.) So in a pre-emptive strike, Rebecca Katz, a top strategist for Ms. Nixon, asked WCBS-TV in an email last week that the debate hall be warmed to 76 degrees.’
SKETCHY INTERVIEW OF THE DAY. Demi Lovato’s alleged drug dealer. “She texted me at 4 o’clock in the morning, um, because she’s a girl and she wanted to kick it, I mean why else does any other girl text another guy at 4 o’clock in the morning to come over?”

PARIS. Five charged with murdering transgender prostitute: “Vanesa Campos, a 36-year-old originally from Peru, was shot dead on the night of August 16-17 in the Bois de Boulogne, a large park on the French capital’s western edge which has been used for years by sex workers. Eight people were detained on Tuesday in connection with her death and five have now been charged with murder as well as robbery, a legal source said, adding that they had been remanded in custody.”
ILLINOIS. Woman who said she was harassed at nursing home for being gay wins in court: “Marsha Wetzel’s federal lawsuit, claiming Glen St. Andrew Living Community in Niles failed to address and prevent alleged acts of harassment and violence against her, was initially dismissed. But on Monday, an appeals court overturned that ruling, finding the operators could be liable for housing discrimination and returning the case to the trial court.”
MISSOURI. State bans meat substitute makers from using the word “meat” in their products: ‘This takes aim at manufacturers of what has been dubbed fake or non-traditional meat. Clean meat — also known as lab-grown meat — is made of cultured animal tissue cells, while plant-based meat is generally from ingredients such as soy, tempeh and seitan. The state law forbids “misrepresenting a product as meat that is not derived from harvested production livestock or poultry.” Violators may be fined $1,000 and imprisoned for a year.’

TRUMP AND PENCE WELCOME ANTI-LGBTQ EXTREMISTS TO WHITE HOUSE FOR DINNER: Last night, Donald Trump dined with evangelical leaders and anti-LGBTQ extremists at the White House, telling them, “I have given you a lot back, just about everything that I promised.” Trump has notably relied on the counsel of these extremists, who, through Vice President Mike Pence, have wielded substantial influence over White House policy, including the attempted ban on transgender troops in the military. Trump promised to make Pence the most consequential vice president in American history. Read more about the “Real Mike Pence” detailing his anti-LGBTQ extremism in HRC’s report. More from The Washington Post.

ONE YEAR AGO, HRC JOINED IN LAWSUIT AGAINST TRUMP-PENCE TROOP BAN AS AN ORGANIZATIONAL CO-PLAINTIFF: “In the year since the case was first filed and in court victory after court victory, we have seen that this impulsive ban was based on nothing more than the petty prejudice of Donald Trump, Mike Pence and the cadre of anti-LGBTQ zealots propping up this administration,” said HRC National Press Secretary Sarah McBride (@SarahEMcBride). “Whether the end to this president’s ban comes first from the courts or the ballot box, we will not stop fighting to support transgender people serving their country and those brave patriots willing to enlist — and we are grateful to Lambda Legal and Outserve-SLDN for their tireless and effective representation.” Read more from Stars and Stripes.
AMICUS BRIEF URGES SCOTUS TO DENY LGBTQ WORKERS PROTECTIONS UNDER TITLE VII: Sixteen states are unconscionably asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a recent Sixth Circuit court ruling that a Michigan funeral home violated Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964 by firing a transgender worker in the case EEOC v. Harris Funeral Homes. Other legal bodies — including the the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Macy v. Holder (2012) and Baldwin v. Foxx (2015) — have found that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects against discrimination based on sexual orientation. Numerous federal courts have also determined that sexual orientation and gender identity are forms of sex discrimination. More from Bloomberg.

MORNING MUST READ ON KIDDY SMILE — THE BLACK, GAY, SON OF IMMIGRANTS WHO DJ’D AT THE FRENCH PRESIDENTIAL PALACE: Pierre Hache, also known as Kiddy Smile, sent the message that LGBTQ people of color and those from immigrant backgrounds exist and must be represented. “[White people] don’t understand that even though, yes, I’m an LGBT person, my existence is intersectional: I’m also a person of color and an immigrant’s son. You feel like France is your country, but you’re always reminded that you’re not from here. I have to represent for those people.” More from The New York Times.

A Fight Broke Out at a Gay Circuit Party on Mykonos During a Song from The Greatest Showman: VIDEO
A Fight Broke Out at a Gay Circuit Party on Mykonos During a Song from The Greatest Showman: VIDEO
IF you haven’t looked at your Instagram feed lately, there’s a massive circuit party taking place this week on the Greek island of Mykonos, where dozens of built, mostly European and American men have gathered for a hedonistic week of sex, drinking, drugs, parties, and thirsty selfies in the sun. But things were not so harmonious at a recent event in the Aegean paradise.
An embarrassing fight broke out at the XLSIOR Festival on Monday, just as the chorus from The Greatest Showman’s “Never Enough” was reaching its heights.
Facebook commenters lapped up the schadenfreude and turned up the sarcasm.
Wrote one commenter: “It continued on outside for another 20 minutes. I witnessed it first hand while I was outside too. Interesting that gays fight like this. This happens mostly among straights.”
Added another: “I thought a gay mosh pit was a back room and some gun oil… God, I’m so out of touch with ‘duh gaze’ these days.”
Said one observer: “‘Beyoncé is better than Madon…’ (fisticuffs)”
Another posited a theory: “Probably started over another guy trying to touch or fuck his weekend bf. I’ve seen it happen there before. I think it’s always a Cavo paradicio too. Probably the same muscle Mary every year”
Another pleaded for harmony: “Rare thing to happen in the gay community , stick together, stay together , love together. Keep us strong.”
Another replied: “Aggression does not equate masculinity as some comments seems to suggest. This at a gay function is not the look. Matter of fact this entire display is beyond disappointing. I expect better from the gays. Leave that B.S display of aggression to idiotic straight boys… Also venue capacity shouldn’t be an excuse either, because I’ve attended wall to wall gay parties for years (TRUST ME) & this sort of thing hardly, ever happened.”
