The Vivienne
“This young rising star is based at Liverpool’s Superstar Boudoir. The Vivoenne has made an international name for herself as the UK ambassador for the American hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Not many people know it but she has an amazing singing voice.”

This powerful exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act with stories from Liverpool’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) community over the past five decades.

The exhibition reflects how the lives and experiences of Liverpool’s LGBT+ community have changed from 1967 to 2017. Individual stories are told through a mixture of objects, costume, art, photography, film and oral history interviews. The exhibition also explores the impact of national events such as Section 28, civil partnerships, marriage, age of consent equality, and equal adoption rights.

The experiences of Liverpool’s LGBT+ community reveal devastating cases of discrimination and prejudice but also examples of self-determination, resilience and creativity. 50 years on from the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, the exhibition offers a reflection on the significant advances that have been made, while also remembering there is still work to be done for full equality.

5 Activities to Improve Your Life As a Couple

In long-term relationships it can be easy to fall into a lazy lifestyle, filled with late nights on the couch and take-out dinners—especially if you cohabitate. These comfortable habits can quickly turn into stale patterns that make life less than exciting, and whether your relationship is new or seasoned, no one likes boring. Make the […]

I’ve been an ally before I knew what it meant to be one
72792_mediumI volunteered for the Atlanta photo shoot because I believe all people should be treated equally . My mother was a Southern feminist who taught not only with her words but by her actions. She treated everyone with respect and was often judged for her open-mind . My obstetrician in the 1980s was a lesbian. I didn’t know that until many years later when Mom told me

As one of the leading organizations behind LGBTQ media advocacy, GLAAD is partnering with HBO to highlight LGBTQ innovation in Hollywood’s comedy genre with the New Queer Comedy panel taking place at The Studio by HBO in Provincetown on Friday, Aug. 17.

The event will feature out LGBTQ notables such as Cameron Esposito, Matteo Lane, and Travon Free. As actors, comedians, and comedic writers, these power players help to propel visibility and advocacy for queer content creators and audiences alike through their immense collective talent.

Cameron Esposito is known best for her stand-up comedy, her show Take My Wife, and her podcast, Queery. Matteo Lane is a Chicago-born, New York-based comedian on the Comedy Central series The Comedy Jam. Travon Free is a comedian and currently a writer for TBS’ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

The New Queer Comedy panel will be led by Emmy Award-winning standup comedian, actress, television writer, and producer, Judy Gold and is set to run on GLAAD’s YouTube and Facebook Live channels on Monday, Aug. 20.

The Studio by HBO is a new experience in the summer of 2018 that honors LGBTQ creatives with “a wide selection of inclusive events ranging from workshops and art exhibits to intimate talks and screenings dedicated to celebrating the diversity of the community.” Its inaugural run is taking place over the course of seven weeks in Provincetown, Massachusetts, otherwise famously known as PTown.

HBO’s knack for authentic and noteworthy LGBTQ storytelling paired with the culture-rich, artistic history of PTown has made The Studio an ideal place to hold conversations of depth and breadth that ring important to the LGBTQ community.

Samantha Bee introduced a new segment on Full Frontal last night, Fascists to Watch 2018, in which she introduced the up-and-coming ghouls to watch out for, including Corey Stewart, James Allsup, E. Scott Lloyd, and Arthur Jones.

Said Bee: “From the rise of the alt right, to the horror of Trump’s anti-immigration policy, to the marketing of Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf as a hit young adult novel, authoritarianism and racism are creeping into every part of our once-okay institutions. And not just super-star races like Donald Trump. There are lots of eager young monsters out there paying their dues, getting ever closer to a shot at the big time.

MEET THE ANTI-LGBTQ EXTREMIST RUNNING TO OUST THE SENATE’S ONLY OPENLY LGBTQ MEMBER: Throughout her almost two decades in public office, Leah Vukmir has:

  • Derailed efforts to pass commonsense protections for Wisconsin’s LGBTQ community, including protections for LGBTQ youth facing discrimination and bullying at school;
  • Long opposed marriage equality and has close ties to some of the nation’s most virulently anti-LGBTQ organizations, including the Family Research Council;
  • Consistently voted against pro-equality legislation and has pushed for a license to discriminate in the health care system that would prioritize physicians’ beliefs over life-saving patient care. More from Washington Blade, Into and Pink News.

Leah Vukmir’s extreme views place her far outside the mainstream. Her record and close affiliation with extremist groups is setting off alarms not only for the LGBTQ community, but for all Wisconsinites. #WISen

ICYMI — OKLAHOMA SCHOOL DISTRICT CANCELS CLASSES AFTER EXTREMISTS THREATEN TRANS STUDENT WITH VIOLENCE: “The hateful and violent rhetoric of these adults is despicable, disgusting and completely dehumanizing,” said Ellen Kahn, Director of the HRC Foundation’s Children, Youth and Families Programs.  “No student should face threats of violence or harassment from anyone in their school community, let alone from their peers’ parents. In the aftermath of the last election, LGBTQ students reported an increase in bullying, and the incident in Oklahoma reinforces the unconscionable fact that the bullying can sometimes come from adults in their community.” More from Pink News, Time and Refinery29.
