Trump ignores LGBTQ Pride proclamation in favor of ‘National Ocean Month’

JUSTIN TRUDEAU. Slams Trump’s “totally unacceptable” tariffs. “These tariffs are totally unacceptable. The numbers are clear: The United States has a $2 billion U.S. dollars surplus in steel trade with Canada – and Canada buys more American steel than any other country in the world, half of U.S. steel exports. Canada is a secure supplier of aluminum and steel to the U.S. defense industry, putting aluminum in American planes and steel in American tanks. That Canada could be considered a national security threat to the United States is inconceivable.”
Looking forward to seeing the employment numbers at 8:30 this morning.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 1, 2018
LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE, NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING. Trump violated law by tweeting about jobs report. ‘Trump’s tweet is at odds with federal regulations, which says that “employees of the Executive Branch shall not comment publicly on the data until at least one hour after the official release time.”’
DINESH D’SOUZA. Trump called me, told me I was a great voice for freedom: “The president said, ‘Dinesh, you’ve been a great voice for freedom.’ And he said that, ‘I got to tell you, man-to-man, you’ve been screwed.’ He goes, ‘I’ve been looking at the case. I knew from the beginning that it was fishy.’ But he said upon reviewing it he felt a great injustice had been done and that using his power he was going to rectify it, sort of clear the slate. And he said he just wanted me to be out there to be a bigger voice than ever defending the principles that I believe in.”

INDIA. 14 arrested for lynching transgender person: “Fourteen persons, including a juvenile, were arrested by city police for allegedly lynching a transgender at Chandrayangutta four days ago. Three others transgenders were injured in the attack. The incident was a result of rumours of child lifters moving around the city. The mob suspected the four persons to be child lifters after a video of group of transsexual being chased and caught by the locals in Sangareddy district a few days ago circulated widely on social media.”
ON THE RAG. What’s on the gay magazines this week…
ARIANA GRANDE. Love letter to the LGBTQ community: “I was taught to do my makeup by queens in gay bars in New York City. I made my Broadway debut at 14 years old and did 8 shows a week but there was never a night I was too tired to run to a gay bar and do a quick Whitney cover before bed…I am eternally indebted to and inspired by the LGBTQ community. I hope to create anthems for you that wrap you up with comfort and make you get your best life for as long as I live.”
VIRGINIA. Congressional candidate Nathan Larson admits he’s a pedophile. “In a phone call, Larson confirmed that he created the now-defunct websites suiped.org and incelocalypse.today ― chat rooms that served as gathering places for pedophiles and violence-minded misogynists like himself.”
HONG KONG. Gay people prescribed prayers and no sex as a ‘cure’: ‘Stop watching porn, look “macho” and avoid spending time alone with other boys – this was the advice Alvin Cheung in Hong Kong received after reaching out for help when he realized he was gay.’
QUEENSLAND. Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon are beach bros.
DRONE VIDEO OF THE DAY. TIME magazine’s new cover.
WHOOPSIE-DAISY OF THE DAY. Hauling a glass window up a skyscraper in Moscow. “Construction workers in Moscow using a rooftop crane to lift a giant pane of glass to the top of a 30-plus-story skyscraper will unfortunately have to try it once again. The glass was almost in their reach when the cable apparently snapped, sending the window and its support rig plummeting to the ground.”
MUSIC VIDEO OF THE DAY. Kesha “Hymn”. ‘When I attended the Time 100 Gala this past April, I met Cristina Jiménez, co-founder of the largest immigrant youth organization in the country, United We Dream. I was so moved by what she and her team are doing to empower immigrant youth in our country. They are working to protect and empower hundreds of thousands of DREAMers who came to this country as children and grew up, studied, and worked in the USA, and now face deportation with the scheduled end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Even though DACA is scheduled to end, United We Dream has continued to fight for justice and dignity for immigrants and helps DREAMers apply for protection.

Gay Twins Come Out to Mom in Touching YouTube Vid: WATCH
Cooper and Luc Coyle, twin 19-year-old aspiring fashion photographers, vloggers, and social media personalities, came out to their channel and their mom (above) this week in one of their videos.
Said their mom: “I understand you want us to know…As long as you’re happy, and you know who you are, that makes daddy and I happy. We’re happy if you’re happy. We just want you to be happy. If this is who you are, then this is who you are. You’re born that way. You’re not different from anybody else. You’re my babies, I love you. Daddy and I are always here for you, to support you, to be whoever you want to be.”
Added mom: “You should never hide who you are…It’s not really a surprise, but I would never assume anybody to be anybody.”
It’s impossible to watch and not think of Austin and Aaron Rhodes, gay twins with the most watched coming out video on YouTube with more than 26 million views.
And here’s a Q&A if you’re interested in knowing them better:

Grindr STD Alerts, Cancer Detection, Asperger’s, 3-D Printed Corneas, Boxing for Fitness: Gay Men’s Health Round-Up
UNDETECTABLE. A funny new video from New Zealand about two men on a hook-up educates about being HIV undetectable. “We’re unequivocally telling New Zealanders that if someone living with HIV has had an undetectable viral load for more than six months, HIV does not transmit through sex – even if condoms aren’t being used.”
HOLY GRAIL OF CANCER RESEARCH. Doctors hail new blood test for 10 different kinds of cancers: ‘The test, called a liquid biopsy, screens for cancer by detecting tiny bits of DNA released by cancer cells into blood. The test had particularly good results for ovarian and pancreatic cancers, though the number of cancers detected was small. Researchers hope the test will become part of a “universal screening” tool that doctors can use to detect cancer in patients.’
COLON CANCER. American Cancer Society issues new guidelines urging colon checks at age 45 and not 50.
YOU’VE GOT SYPHILIS. Grindr and other apps are adding ways to notify partners that you got an STD: ‘Grindr and other primarily gay dating apps are exploring ways to add the ability for people who test positive for an STD to notify partners using the app, Mashable has learned in multiple interviews with public health experts. According to Dr. Heidi Bauer, the chief of STD control at the California Department of Health, and Dan Wohlfeiler, director of the health consortium Building Healthy Online Communities(BHOC), STD partner notification messages are currently under consideration by several different app-makers, including Grindr, with one possibility already in the design and piloting phase.
PrEP. Gilead to begin running TV ads: ‘In a major shift, pharmaceutical giant Gilead Sciences will begin airing television ads for PrEP, its HIV prevention medication. The company said the ads, which will start in June and run through August, are “designed to encourage candid conversations around sexual health and promote public awareness of HIV prevention.”’
THE RAINBOW DIET. Gay man talks about his eating disorder…
WALK FASTER. It might help you live longer…
MEDICAL ADVANCE OF THE DAY. 3-D printed corneas: ‘Researchers at Newcastle University have been able to 3D-print a biocompatible corneal framework using a new gel formulations that “keeps the stem cells alive whilst producing a material which is stiff enough to hold its shape but soft enough to be squeezed out the nozzle of a 3D printer.” There is a significant shortage of corneas available to transplant, with 10 million people worldwide requiring surgery to prevent corneal blindness as a result of diseases such as trachoma, an infectious eye disorder,” wrote the researchers.’
MORE EYES. The first permanent, implantable, custom-colored (medical) iris is now approved by the FDA.
ALASKA. Gonorrhea cases skyrocket: “Gonorrhea, a treatable bacterial infection, is most prevalent among people ages 15 to 30, Jones said. About 58 percent of the gonorrhea cases last year in Alaska affected people age 29 and younger. The cases were split evenly between men and women. Southwest Alaska had the highest rate of gonorrhea followed by Northern Alaska and then the Anchorage and Matanuska-Susitna regions, the state health department reported. It’s not completely clear what’s leading to the increases in gonorrhea in Alaska, Jones said.”
ICYMI. The Guardian offered a look this week at America’s hidden epidemic of gay black men and HIV.
SEX LIFE. A gay man in his 50s with Asperger’s talks about his sex life, or lack thereof: “I have always had an extreme fear of disease contagion, and even the thought of casual contact with people’s microbiomes repels me. For these reasons I have never wanted intimate relationships. I see my sexuality as a biological urge with no relevance or value in relation to the rest of my life, best extirpated in the least risky, least effortful manner; solitary masturbation, one to three times a day. The aspiration for love and sex is not universal. Nor is it exclusively people with a low sex drive who choose a solitary life.”
GAY BOXING. London boxing studio Kobox launched a campaign this week to get more gay men involved with the sport: “Called ‘Proud’, the campaign aims to break down the stereotypes surrounding boxing, as many men think it’s hostile and intimidating, with gay men in particular reporting they feel ‘uneasy’ about entering a boxing environment….The clip shows a frustrated man alone in a dark boxing studio, seeing words such as ‘weird’, ‘different’ and ‘queen’ appear on the wall every time he punches the bag. However, the scene then changes to a much more friendly environment, with a colourful studio full of men having a great time, getting their punch on and listening to upbeat music you’d expect to find in the club at 2am – which is apt as Kobox’s mantra is ‘Fight club meets nightclub’.

Electronic Musician ‘Pogo’ Claims His Gay Hate Video Was a ‘Joke’ Intended to Trigger People: WATCH
Electronic musician Pogo, aka Nick Bertke ,whose video explaining why he hates gay people and cheered the Pulse nightclub massacre went viral yesterday, addressed the outrage he provoked in a new video.
Bertke said that the video, as well as past blog posts about the evils of feminism, are all a farce and a joke intended to “grind the gears” of people on the internet who are prone to requiring trigger warnings and draw them out into the open.
“The things I said in this video I think have deserved the reception that the video has had…I love confusing people…Then I took it too far [and created the ‘fagottron’ video].”
He added: “There is no pinch of salt big enough to be taken with what I have said. It’s all good and well for me to open a valve and to draw people out into the open – people I don’t like, you know, hypocrites etcetera, but I feel very strongly that it’s been very naive behavior on my part. If I’m going to tuck my tail between my legs and admit anything it’s that these posts and these videos and these things I’ve made for the sake of being edgy have not contributed to any productive conversation.”
But he’s a fan of alt-right troll Milo Yiannopoulos and other alt-right and conservative figures.
“I like some of the things people like Milo Yiannopoulos say, but I don’t like the way he says them. He’ll get up in front of a crowd of people and bash the indigenous people of Australia. He’ll speak in a very sort of derogatory, very provocative way, and I’ve often found myself thinking, ‘is that productive?’ Compared to someone like Jordan Peterson, someone like Stefan Molyneaux, Christina Hoff Sommers, Steven Crowder, Ben Shapiro, Joe Rogan…these are guys who I think have very calm and collected discussions. These are people I could only hope to become like one day.”
Added Bertke: “Apparently I hate gay people…Many of my friends and supporters are gay. There is definitely a degree of irony.”
He said that he hoped the video didn’t cause gay people to want to kill themselves: “It has never been my intention to hurt people.”
Bertke concluded: “You’re within your rights not to believe anything here because I’ve pretty much said that all my words up till now have been bullshit, so all I can say to you is that if you ask my family members, and closest friends, they’ll all tell you the same thing, ‘Nick’s just being an asshole’…It’s a part of me that I think is slowly growing up…if you have recognized the jokes you have my deepest appreciation.”
Wrote Bertke in text accompany his explainer: “I don’t hate gays. I am in fact bicurious myself, and it has not been easy within the culture I have been raised. The 2016 video circulating was a satirical sh*tpost made in bad tastes and I never intended for it go public. I have Asperger’s and Bipolar disorder so my sense of humour and empathy for people is often very muddled. It’s a condition I’ve struggled with for many years as an artist who feels passionately about things and who faces the public eye every hour of my life. The internet has taken the video very far out of context and proportion, but I am very sorry to the people who I the video has hurt or confused.”

HRC & J.Crew Group Inc. Partner to Support LGBTQ Equality
HRC is proud to join forces with J.Crew and Madewell on apparel and accessories for Pride month this June to help advance efforts to achieve full equality for all LGBTQ people.
Half of the retail price of both lines — available at J.Crew and Madewell stores nationwide, as well as online at the HRC store — will benefit HRC’s work on the front lines of the fight for full LGBTQ equality. HRC is working against discriminatory laws and practices at the state and federal levels, protecting the gains the LGBTQ community has made, and mobilizing members and supporters in the ongoing fight to advance equality.
“At a time when LGBTQ people remain at risk of being fired, evicted or denied services in 31 states simply because of who they are, our fight for full LGBTQ equality is as urgent as ever,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “As we mark Pride month, we’re excited to launch this collaboration with J.Crew and Madewell in support of the LGBTQ community, and to promote love, respect, inclusivity and equality. We are deeply grateful to the teams at J.Crew and Madewell who have worked to bring this collaboration to life, and particularly to J.Crew President Jim Brett, whose leadership and commitment to equality made it possible.”
“There has never been a more critical time to support the Human Rights Campaign. Chad and his team represent our strongest front in the everyday fight for equality. I’ve always believed that the best way to affect change is to be part of that change. J.Crew and Madewell are committed to being better citizens at the everyday level, to do what we can to help bring about a more inclusive world,” said J.Crew Group CEO Jim Brett.
J.Crew’s “Love First” line includes men’s, women’s and kids’ shirts, as well as exclusive HRC socks. Madewell’s “Love to All” line will include a women’s shirt and tote bag. They’re available at J.Crew and Madewell stores, as well as JCrew.com and Madewell.com, and online at the HRC store.
