ABC’s ‘What Would You Do?’ Put Unwitting Customers in Front of a Gay Couple and an Anti-Gay Baker: WATCH

ABC’s What Would You Do? used the SCOTUS Masterpiece Cakeshop case and others like it as inspiration for a recent segment, allowing customers at a bakery to witness a lesbian couple getting turned down for their wedding cake.

Some customers were outraged. Two women who witnessed the discrimination walked out, saying “if you’re not going to serve them….we’re going to take our business elsewhere.”

Another customer lashed out at the baker: “Don’t impose your personal opinion on a customer.”

Another woman used religion to defend the lesbian couple, asking the baker, “Do you believe in God? And if God didn’t want em this way he wouldn’t have made em this way. Correct?”

A black man who said he doesn’t believe in same-sex marriage was moved to tears, angry that the couple was being discriminated against: “Back in the day, just because I’m black, they wouldn’t have allowed me to walk in and sit at one of these tables.”

ABC blurred the faces of several homophobes who spoke out against the gay couple.

Human Rights Campaign Endorses Jennifer Wexton for U.S. Congress

Human Rights Campaign Endorses Jennifer Wexton for U.S. Congress

HRC announced its endorsement of Jennifer Wexton for U.S. Congress. Wexton, a Democrat Virginia state senator and attorney, is vying to replace Republican U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Comstock to represent the people of Northern Virginia’s 10th District — a race Politico identified as one of the top 10 House races to watch in 2018.

“Jennifer Wexton is a proven leader who will stand up in the U.S. Congress for Virginia’s working families and help pull the emergency brakes on the Trump-Pence administration’s reckless agenda,” said JoDee Winterhof, HRC Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs. “In the Virginia General Assembly, Jennifer Wexton worked tirelessly to advance fairness and equality for all. HRC is proud to endorse her bid to represent the people of Northern Virginia’s 10th District in Congress, and we look forward to working closely with her to move LGBTQ equality forward.”

“It has been my privilege to fight alongside HRC in the General Assembly towards greater equality for all Virginian,” said Jennifer Wexton. “With the recent attacks on civil liberties emanating from the White House, it’s more important than ever that we rededicate ourselves to ensuring equality for all people under the law. I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign.”

Jennifer Wexton has a proven commitment to LGBTQ equality. In the Virginia General Assembly, Wexton repeatedly championed state legislation to prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ people and their families. She has supported bills to expand Virginia’s hate crimes statute to include the LGBTQ community and protect LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy. She has also opposed harmful anti-LGBTQ legislation in Virginia that would have allowed government officials to refuse to marry same-sex couples, discriminatory legislation targeting transgender people, and numerous other attempts to treat the LGBTQ community as second-class citizens.

In contrast to Wexton’s commitment to LGBTQ equality, Congresswoman Barbara Comstock earned an abysmal score of zero on the HRC Congressional Scorecard.

Paid for by Human Rights Campaign PAC (www.hrc.org) and authorized by Jennifer Wexton for Congress.
