MAJOR VICTORY! KANSAS CITY, KS, PASSES LGBTQ NON-DISCRIMINATION PROTECTIONS: “This is a major victory for LGBTQ equality in Kansas City, Kansas, and it’s especially encouraging following state lawmakers’ shameful move ramming into law a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people in child welfare services,” said HRC National Field Director Marty Rouse. “It proves that progress at the local level is possible even when state lawmakers refuse to do the right thing. We thank the commissioners for taking action and congratulate Equality Kansas and the local advocates who made this incredibly important victory possible.” More from Advocate.

HRC ENDORSES RICK NEAL FOR U.S. CONGRESS: “Rick Neal’s commitment to equality and long career serving others prove he will be a champion of fairness, justice and equality in Congress,” said HRC Ohio State Manager Shawn Copeland. “HRC is proud to endorse his candidacy for Ohio’s 15th District, and we look forward to electing another pro-equality champion to the U.S. House of Representatives come November.” More from HRC.

A MAJORITY OF MASSACHUSETTS VOTERS WANT TO PRESERVE STATE NON-DISCRIM PROTECTIONS FOR TRANS COMMUNITY: Results of the WBUR poll show that 52 percent of voters want to preserve a bipartisan 2016 law that added gender identity to the state’s non-discrimination laws, and only 38 percent support a November ballot initiative that would repeal the important protections. More from WBUR.

PRIDE MONTH ROUNDUP

TRUMP AGAIN FAILS TO RECOGNIZE LGBTQ PRIDE MONTH: “It is clear that failing to recognize Pride Month is intentional, just as it was last year,” HRC President Chad Griffin told NBC News. “Trump and Pence are obsessed with erasing us. But we will not be erased, and in November, the White House is due for a rude awakening on their blatant discrimination.” More from NBC, Teen Vogue and NewNowNext.

“ALEXA, GIVE US A PRIDE FACT”: HRC is working with Amazon and Amazon’s employee LGBTQ affinity group, glamazon, to help celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month by releasing a Pride Facts skill for Amazon Alexa.  Throughout June, Alexa owners  will be able to say, “Alexa, tell me a Pride fact,” and it will respond with facts about LGBTQ Pride, LGBTQ history, important LGBTQ leaders and figures and other topics. More from HRC.

ICYMI — HRC & J.CREW GROUP INC. PARTNER TO SUPPORT LGBTQ EQUALITY: Half of the retail price of both lines — available at J.Crew and Madewell stores nationwide, as well as online at the HRC store — will benefit HRC’s work on the front lines in the fight for full LGBTQ equality. More from HRC.

Looking for something to stream while you Netflix and chill? Check out our picks for new films streaming this month below, including Alex Strangelove, Brokeback Mountain and more.

Brokeback Mountain (2005), available on Hulu June 1

Ang Lee’s heartbreaking tale of two cursed lovers on the range features gut-punching dramatic performances from Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway. Beside the tough and tender moments between Ledger and Gyllenhaal, the film is perhaps most famous for being robbed for the Best Picture Academy Award, losing to Crash.

The Covenant (2006), available on Netflix June 1

A homoerotic film about teen witches? Count us in. This flick may have been a critical flop, but it helped launch the careers of heartthrobs like Sebastian Stan, Chace Crawford and Taylor Kitsch.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006), available on HBO June 1

A Meryl Streep film pick? For Pride month? Groundbreaking.

Alex Strangelove (2018), available on Netflix June 8

If you loved Love, Simon, clear your calendar for this Netflix original film. It’s another suburban coming-out story, but this one skews slightly raunchier. With Ben Stiller serving as one of the film’s producers, the humor gets bluer, but writer Craig Johnson ensures the heart is still all there.

Sense8: Series Finale (2018), available on Netflix June 8

Say goodbye to the sexy sci-fi series in style with this film finale. Created by the Wachowskis, the show’s expansive universe and complex mythology was coupled with lots of queer themes, earning praise from fans and critics alike.

I Love Ya Darling

Of course I love ya darling
You’re a bloody top notch bird
And when I say yur gorgeous
I mean every single word

So ya bum is on the big side
I don’t mind a bit of flab
It means that when I’m ready
There’s somethin’ there to grab

So your belly isn’t flat no more
I tell ya, I don’t care
So long as when I cuddle ya
I can get my arms around there

No sheila who is your age
Has nice round perky breasts
They just gave into gravity
But I know ya did ya best

I’m tellin’ ya the truth now
I never tell ya lies
I think its very sexy
That you’ve got dimples on ya thighs

I swear on me nana’s grave now
The moment that we met
I thought u was as good as I
Was ever gonna get

No matter wot u look like
I’ll always love ya dear
Now shut up while the footy’s on
And get me another beer!

This is happiness, to be everything at once.
Be unblinded, be unlearned, be unbridled and unburned.

Heavy on our heels, the rocky ground we leave behind.
Tassels streaming from our necks, we cast a wake amidst the wind.
We’re the roamers to the road, barebacked, spirit and in mind.
Oh, to be free like this.

This is happiness, to be everything at once.
Be unblinded, be unlearned, be unbridled and unburned.
This is happiness. I’m fearless and I’m free,
With the open road and the world beneath my feet.
