Alec Baldwin’s Trump opened Saturday Night Live by convening a bipartisan meeting on gun control at which all the turmoil of the White House this week was laid bare. Two who were present at SNL’s meeting, like the one at the White House this week, were Beck Bennett’s Mike Pence and Cecily Strong’s Dianne Feinstein, but of course the meeting was all about one person.

RELATED: Alec Baldwin Fires Back at Trump: I’ll Hang in There for Your Impeachment, Resignation

This week’s cold open follows a week in which Baldwin and Trump exchanged barbs on Twitter.

Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 2, 2018

Agony though it may be, I’d like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff. That we’ve all been waiting for.

— ABFoundation (@ABFalecbaldwin) March 2, 2018

Baldwin’s Trump started the gun meeting off by reading off a list of talking points: “Tonight I am here to bring you a message of healing and a show of unity. I hear you and I care. Rent ‘Lego Ninjago Movie.’ Sorry, Eric scribbled some notes on there, too.”

And then it was on to gun control: “It’s clear something has to change. We have to take a hard look at mental health, which I have so much of. I have one of the healthiest mental. My mentals are so high, but we have to respect the law. Believe me, no one love the Second Amendment and due process more than me, but maybe we just take everyone’s guns.”

“I said I was going to run this country like a business,” said Baldwin’s Trump. “That business is a Waffle House at 2 am….Crazies everywhere, staff walking out in the middle of their shift, managers taking money out of the cash register to pay off the Russian mob.”

Baldwin’s Trump also addressed the departures of key staff, like Hope Hicks, which twisted Trump’s tongue into a lecherous knot: “She’s like a daughter to me. So smart, so hot. You know, I hate seeing her go but I love watching her walk away.”

And finally Kate McKinnon’s Jeff Sessions showed up to remind Trump that his name is being brought up quite frequently at the Justice Dept.

WA Legislature Sends Bill to Protect LGBTQ Youth from Dangerous “Conversion Therapy” to Gov. Inslee

WA Legislature Sends Bill to Protect LGBTQ Youth from Dangerous “Conversion Therapy” to Gov. Inslee

Today, HRC urged Washington Governor Jay Inslee to sign SB 5722 — legislation protecting LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and debunked practice of so-called “conversion therapy.”  Previously passed by both chambers, today the Washington State Senate concurred with amendments that had been added by the House of Representatives on Wednesday. The measure now heads to the governor’s desk and could be one of the first pro-equality bills to be enacted this year.

“Children across the Evergreen State deserve to live their lives authentically and should never be subjected to the abusive practice of so-called conversion therapy,” said HRC Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs JoDee Winterhof. “It’s time for Washington to join the growing number of states and municipalities who are enacting these critical protections. We thank the state legislators who voted to protect LGBTQ youth from this dangerous practice and now call on Governor Inslee to sign this crucially important legislation.”

There is no credible evidence that conversion therapy can change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. To the contrary, research has clearly shown that these practices pose devastating health risks for LGBTQ young people such as depression, decreased self-esteem, substance abuse, homelessness, and even suicidal behavior. The harmful practice is condemned by every major medical and mental health organization, including the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, and American Medical Association.

Connecticut, California, Nevada, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont, New York, New Mexico, and Rhode Island all have laws or regulations protecting youth from this abusive practice. A growing number of municipalities have also enacted similar protections, including cities and counties in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, Florida, New York, and Arizona.

According to a recent report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, an estimated 20,000 LGBTQ minors in states without protections will be subjected to conversion therapy by a licensed healthcare professional if state lawmakers fail to act.

HRC has partnered with the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and state equality groups across the nation to pass state legislation ending conversion therapy. More information on the lies and dangers of efforts to change sexual orientation or gender identity can be found here.

‘Chicago,’ ‘I’m So Excited’, ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ and Everything Else Streaming in March

‘Chicago,’ ‘I’m So Excited’, ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ and Everything Else Streaming in March

Looking for something to stream while you Netflix and chill? Check out our picks for new films streaming this month below, including Girls Trip, I’m So Excited and more.

Cruel Intentions (1999), available on Netflix March 1

Before there was Gossip Girl, there were a few teens behaving as badly as the lads and lassies in this late-‘90s thriller. Ryan Phillippe is peak Ryan Phillippe, while Sarah Michelle Gellar turns in such a campy performance that even without Buffy would earn her a spot in the gay icon annals.

Bye Bye Birdie (1963), available on Amazon March 1

The incomparable gay entertainer Paul Lynde is just one of many stars in this film adaptation of the classic stage show. He’s joined by Janet Leigh, Dick Van Dyke and, of course, Ann-Margret.

Dirty Dancing (1987), available on Hulu March 1

Man, Swayze was a babe, right? Even if you just watch the final dance on repeat, it’s good to know this one’s available on demand.

Wet Hot American Summer (2001), available on Netflix March 1

The campy cult classic about a camp is a gut-busting work of comedy on its own, but the gay romance side plot is actually one of the sweetest to hit screens for its time.

Chicago (2002), available on Hulu March 1

Give ‘em the old razzle dazzle with this Oscar-winning movie musical adaptation. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger, Queen Latifah and Richard Gere turn in some of their best performances ever. (And I guess technically this would be Mýa’s best, too?)

I’m So Excited (2013), available on Hulu March 1

Pedro Almodóvar indulges in every camp impulse as he places a pressure cooker of kooky characters on a plane, replete with Pointer Sisters musical breakdown.

Girls Trip (2017), available on HBO March 31

If you’re somehow still sleeping on the greatest comedic talent we’ve seen as of late, Tiffany Haddish, you better get it together and mark your calendars for this. Even though Haddish steals the show, the entire ensemble is a delight in this bawdy laugh riot.
