Strictly Come Dancing Musicals Week
Gemma Atkinson and Aljaz Škorjanec scored 29 points for their Quickstep to the title track from ‘Hello Dolly!’. Score breakdown: 6 (Craig), 7 (Darcey), 8 (Shirley), 8 (Bruno).
The judges couldn’t agree on whether Gemma’s posture and acting deserved praise. “The character lost impact,” Bruno told her.
Mollie King and AJ Pritchard scored 31 points for their Rumba to ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ from ‘Grease’. Score breakdown: 6, 7, 9, 9.
An illegal lift stopped Craig from scoring Mollie higher. “I liked it but I did not love it,” he said.
Joe McFadden and Katya Jones scored 37 for their Samba to ‘Money, Money’ from ‘Cabaret’. Score breakdown: 9, 9, 9, 10.
Joe’s acting skills made sure this unusual take on a Samba impressed the panel. “I was ready for it to fail, but it was incredible,” Craig said.
Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice scored 39 points for their American Smooth to ‘Memory’ from ‘Cats’. Score breakdown: 9, 10, 10, 10.
“It’s going to be a memory etched in people’s hearts for a long time,” Shirley said of the routine.
Argentine Tango to the title track from ‘Phantom Of The Opera’
ou can’t be wobbly in the Argentine Tango,” Bruno said.
Charleston to ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ from ‘Mary Poppins’
A show-stopping lift sequence made this a dance for the ‘Strictly’ history books. “You couldn’t tell who was the pro,” Darcey said.
After getting off to a slow start, the ‘Strictly’ quarter-final stepped up a gear when last week’s leaderboard-topper Joe McFadden took to the floor. His partner Katya Jones took a risk, with an unconventional song choice and choreography, but their efforts paid off.

Conversely, while Davood Ghadami and Mollie King’s routines looked like surefire crowd-pleasers on paper – with well-known tunes and familiar dances – the celebs failed to impress the panel.

The first wow moment of the episode came courtesy of the phenomenal Debbie McGee, who battled through back problems to deliver an emotionally-charged American Smooth.

And providing a lesson in how to bounce back in style, Alexandra Burke reminded everyone why she’s still a favourite to win the competition, barely pausing for breath between cartwheels, lifts and footwork-heavy bars.

Divine, decadent and slightly twisted – your character not me.”
Ahead of the quarter-finals, Mollie labelled the rumba the “dance of doom” and it certainly seems like she had a point. With ten points separating her from the top of the leaderboard, it would take a lot of viewers votes for The Saturdays’ singer to avoid the dance-off.

It also looks likely that Gemma’s divisive Quickstep will be performed for a second time tomorrow, but Davood and Nadiya’s uncharacteristic lack of chemistry could fast-track them to a spot in the bottom two.

The Kentucky Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case regarding a company which cited religious beliefs in its refusal to print t-shirts for a Pride festival.

The Lexington Human Rights Commission argues that Blaine Adamson, an owner of Hands On Originals, violated the city’s fairness ordinance, which outlaws discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Chief Justice John D. Minton Jr. granted the order to review the case.

According to AP, Adamson had refused a 2012 request to make t-shirts for Lexington’s Gay Pride Festival.

Hands on Originals appealed to the Fayette Circuit Court, which ruled in its favor. The appeals court affirmed the lower court’s decision. No date for the case has been set as of yet.

Watch a profile of Adamson and Hands on Originals produced by anti-gay litigation group Alliance Defending Freedom below.

Donald Trump Denies Collusion Between His Campaign And Russia After Michael Flynn’s Guilty Plea

Donald Trump Denies Collusion Between His Campaign And Russia After Michael Flynn’s Guilty Plea
Donald Trump has denied there was any collusion between his campaign and Russia after ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn admitted lying to the FBI.

Commenting on the matter for the first time since Flynn’s guilty plea on Friday, the US President told reporters as he departed the White House: “What has been shown is no collusion, no collusion.”

Trump added on Saturday: “There’s been absolutely no collusion, so we’re very happy.”

Flynn was the first member of Trump’s administration to plead guilty to a crime uncovered by special counsel Robert Mueller’s wide-ranging investigation into Russian attempts to influence the 2016 US presidential election and possible collusion by Trump aides.

Flynn admitted in a Washington court that he had lied to FBI investigators about discussions he had last December with Russia’s ambassador to the US, Sergei Kislyak.

In what appeared to be moves undermining the policies of outgoing President Barack Obama, the pair discussed US sanctions on Russia, and Flynn asked Kislyak to help delay a United Nations vote seen as damaging to Israel, according to prosecutors.

Flynn also was told by a “very senior member” of Trump’s transition team to contact Russia and other foreign governments to try to influence them ahead of the vote, the prosecutors said.

Sources told Reuters the “very senior” transition official was Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor. Kushner’s lawyer did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Flynn, a former Defense Intelligence Agency director, only held his position as Trump’s national security adviser for 24 days.

He was forced to resign after he was found to have misled Vice President Mike Pence about his discussions with Kislyak.

Flynn, a retired US Army lieutenant, agreed to cooperate with the official investigation as part of his plea on Friday.

Senate Republicans Pass Trump-Pence Tax Scheme — Including Dangerous Attack on Health Care

Senate Republicans Pass Trump-Pence Tax Scheme — Including Dangerous Attack on Health Care

Today, the Human Rights Campaign issued the following statement after Senate Republicans passed legislation carefully crafted to undermine the Affordable Care Act and other vital health care programs.

“With thoughtless disregard for their constituents, 51 Senate Republicans just voted for reckless legislation disguised as ‘tax reform’ that threatens millions of Americans’ health care and programs crucial to the LGBTQ community,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “This widely unpopular and dangerous bill was drafted behind closed doors, not made available to the American people until a few hours before the vote, and rushed through without any meaningful debate. History will judge how these senators voted today, and the American people will remember at the ballot box.”

The bill passed tonight repeals the ACA’s individual mandate that requires all Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty. This provision was at the heart of the Trump-McConnell failed effort to repeal the ACA earlier this summer. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, repealing the individual mandate could result in 13 million people leaving the insurance market, immediately causing insurance premiums to soar and leave millions more priced out of access to healthcare. Furthermore, the revenue losses triggered by the bill are likely to result in future spending cuts to critical health programs like Medicare, Medicaid, global HIV/AIDS programs, the Ryan White Care Act, and other essential domestic discretionary programs.
