A Sub Full of Scientists Was Attacked by a Group of 20-foot Sharks and It’s Creepy as Hell: WATCH

Imagine being the crew on a deep sea submarine 700 meters below the surface of the ocean when your pressurized sub starts getting attacked by 6-meter (18 ft) sharks who think you’re competing with them for the meat on a whale carcass rotting on the sea floor.

Sound like a horror flick?

Well it happened to the crew shooting the documentary series Blue Planet II and the scene plays out in a new clip.

Says the captain of the sub as the sharks pummel the glass of the pressurized craft: “The submarine is very strong, but they’re so big and strong that I’m a little bit afraid.”

Thousands Of Children Living In ‘Dickensian Conditions’ In Hidden Temporary Accommodation Epidemic

Thousands Of Children Living In ‘Dickensian Conditions’ In Hidden Temporary Accommodation Epidemic
It is an “abuse of human rights” that in the sixth richest economy thousands of people are living in “Dickensian conditions”, David Lammy has said.

An astonishing 78,180 households are living in temporary accommodation (TA), such as hostels and BnBs, and that means 120,170 children do not have a permanent home, MPs heard during a debate in Parliament on the “hidden” epidemic.

The Tottenham Labour MP hit out at the dearth of social homes in the country and voiced anger that a measly ten social homes were built in Grenfell-hit Kensington and Chelsea with council cash since 1990.

“Over the years, I have heard horror stories (about TA) of needles found in stairwells, of children sharing bathrooms with strangers, of vulnerable women being abused and exploited – and in the end this story comes back to a chronic problem of a decimation in our social housing,” he said.

A Local Government Association analysis found as much as £2m-a-day was being spent on TA by councils, amounting to around £2.6 billion in the past three years.

Siobhain McDonagh, Labour MP for Mitcham and Morden, who secured the  debate, said: “Perhaps the most visible indication of the broken housing market is the thousands of people sleeping on our streets, but the homelessness crisis this country faces is far greater, and it is hidden.

“Hidden in hostels, hidden in B ‘n’ Bs and hidden in the heart of an industrial estate.”

McDonagh called for a designated officer for homeless families and for local authorities to be held accountable for regulating temporary accommodation.

Lammy said: “Does she think that it is an abuse of human rights that in the sixth richest economy in the world we’ve got so many people living in these Dickensian conditions?”

He went on to say two families in his constituency had been living in TA for more than 10 years.

“Temporary accommodation is becoming permanent accommodation,” he said.

He hit out at the sale of social housing under the right-to-buy scheme and said just 1,102 social homes were built with government money in England since 2016, adding: “The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea – the borough that has been at the centre of the Grenfell storm – built just ten new council-funded social homes since 1990.”

One in ten households have been in TA for more than five years and for some families in the London boroughs of Harrow and Camden the period was as long as 19 years.

More than 28% of households in TA were housed outside their local authority area, an increase of 248% between March 2011 and March 2017.

Labour MP Frank Field branded the movement of families “worse than the Poor Law”.

He said: “In the Poor Law you were sent back to the village they thought you came from, under these rules you’re sent to any old village or city aren’t you, providing the local authority can actually dump families on them.”

Wes Streeting said youngsters in cramped TA in his constituency of Ilford North were experiencing mental health problems because of the conditions.

One mother lived in one room in a hostel with her 15-year-old daughter.

“Her daughter was preparing for her GCSEs but was having to revise for her exams and do her homework under the duvet with a torch at night,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking to see families live in those kinds of conditions.”

Streeting was also approached by an 11-year-old boy for help during a school visit, he said.

“I went to the head teacher’s office and I met with him,” he said. “The reason he wanted to see me, he said ‘you grew up in a council flat, didn’t you? Can you help me and my mum and my two brothers, because we currently live in one room in a hostel’.”

He added: “This country is going backwards not forwards, and it is simply intolerable.”

Bob Blackman, Tory MP for Harrow East, said many households struggle to scrape together a deposit for a rented property but that 32,000 families in England could benefit if the Government invests £31 million a year into a project to help.

He said such a scheme could save the temporary accommodation budget £1.8 billion over three years.

Housing Minister Marcus Jones said the Government was making progress on getting people out of TA but was “not complacent” and had set up a homelessness reduction task force to tackle the issue.

“The quality of TA is of course extremely important,” he said, saying councils had a legal duty to provide good housing.

“We are committed to ending rough sleeping and reducing homelessness overall and we are therefore setting up a homelessness reduction task force,” he added.

In October, Theresa May announced a £2bn pot of grant money to build affordable housing, stating councils and housing associations can bid for the cash to build, and in areas with high rent, the homes can be social rent, rather than “affordable” rents, which can be up to 80% of market rent.

Forget Your To-Do List – Create a To Be List

Forget Your To-Do List – Create a To Be List
I will show you mine if you show me yours. But whatever your size I just know mine is bigger.

The to-do list is the backbone of our day, a stick to beat our cellulite with and barometer of busyness, importance and procrastination.

Yes avoidance. Can’t just be me who has the same names and same chores un-actioned and avoided with intent which appear on the list every day? Sometimes for weeks. Then these people uncalled or un-emailed, the tasks un-touched develop their own sort of dread power that has the ability to make cleaning hair out of the plug hole look like a desirable distraction.

But this blog isn’t about how to be super efficient (get up at 4am and do the darn things – easy!) because you do know deep down the hows, where and whys of your avoidance, which simply boils down to you don’t want to.

All procrastination is about fear or avoidance of a perceived pain. Rejection, looking foolish, failing, succeeding, not knowing what to do, a sense of pointlessness or sheer cluelessness. There are a billion self-starting tips out there just Google them – or add that to your towering to-do list.

Today I’m interested more in the “to be” list.

Getting clear on why you are doing what you doing and where do you want it to get you to is far more meaningful. The endless striving and pushing forward and stopping to wonder “why” is a great “mind the gap” experience. Instead of thinking what you have “to do” notice why you don’t want to do a lot of the stuff that is dragging you down and making you shop, drink or seek oblivion via Jeremy Kyle.

How about a “to be” list which is about consciously accessing your joy every day, doing things that are so easy you can’t believe you get paid to do it or diarising things that make your heart sing high, loud and proud like Pavarotti in tight pants.

What if the present was perfect and doing less gave you more?

What if we didn’t fill the void with actions and stuff and developed a soulful saunter approach to life (think Shaggy from Scooby Doo)? One pal whose kids have 11 extra curricular activities and who pants when she talks said “I even rush when I speak like I’m racing to the full stop!!”.

Dump the to-do list (or just make it three super priorities you do first thing that will create progress) and here’s a few ideas to help you replace busy with bliss:

• Build in a treat every 90 minutes and notice the joy it brings. A good coffee, using nice stationery, eating organic, feeling the wind on your face, noticing the change of season. If all about mindfully noticing.
• Let go of past niggles. People do hurt us and it’s our responsibility to process it and let it go. Or it become a vengeful – “do-to” list!
• If you are feeling overwhelmed learn to say “no”. No justification nor explanation. No is a complete sentence.
• Drop perfectionism. You are MORE than good enough.
• Learn the art of day dreaming. Let your subconscious show you the way. Drooling is optional.

We weren’t supposed to do this on our own. Life I mean. So why not book a 30 minute consultation with me and see how your life could seriously upgrade.

Authorities on Monday confirmed the identity of Keith Harris (above, right), a 48-year-old San Francisco man, who was found stabbed to death in his apartment on November 2. Alkoraishie Ali, his live-in boyfriend, a porn star and go-go dancer, has been missing since the stabbing.

According to the Bay Area Reporter, the scene was discovered by Paul Novales, the manager of the Estrella Apartments at 340 Hayes Street who went to check on Harris after getting a call that he hadn’t been seen in a couple days:

When he opened the door, there were “big drops” of blood “on the floor and smears of blood on the wall and the door going into the bathroom,” he said. He immediately walked away from the door to the apartment and called 911.

The BAR adds:

Harris was an “absolutely nice, normal guy,” said Novales, “the kind of tenant that everyone wishes they had.”

He said that he didn’t know very well Harris’ partner, Alkoraishie Ali, and police have not announced Ali as a suspect. Ali hasn’t responded to Facebook messages from the Bay Area Reporter.

Longtime San Francisco party promoter Gus Bean, who was friends with the couple, said that Ali, who’s in his early 20s, has frequently worked for him as a go-go dancer.

“Nobody seems to know where he is,” said Bean. “His phone goes to voicemail.”

In addition to go-go dancing, Ali was also starting a gay porn career under the name Ali Liam, noted by the website str8upgayporn (str8upgayporn.com/gay-porn-star-ali-liam-goes-missing-following-the-murder-of-his-boyfriend-in-san-francisco/ – work-unfriendly).

Police have not named a suspect in the murder, but Harris’s identical twin brother has been accusing Ali of the murder on the missing man’s Facebook page.

Friends of Harris’s spoke to the SF Chronicle:

Abdullah Max, 27, of Los Angeles, flew to San Francisco once he heard the news of Harris’ death. He walked past Harris’ building on Monday in hopes that it was all a nightmare and Harris’ death never happened.

“I was waiting for him to come down,” Max said, crying.

He said Harris always encouraged him to be confident and put his feelings first.

“He was like an angel. He never hurt anyone. He was never mean to anyone. He never yelled,” Max said. “I never thought I would ever lose him like this, in my life. Keith was someone I loved more than myself, and I just can’t believe someone could do something like this.”

Priti Patel Told Undisclosed Meetings In Israel A ‘Resigning Matter’

Priti Patel Told Undisclosed Meetings In Israel A ‘Resigning Matter’

Priti Patel has been told her decision not to tell Theresa May she had met with Israeli politicians including Benjamin Netanyahu is a “resigning matter”.

The international development secretary was forced to apologise on Monday after she held 12 undisclosed meetings while on holiday in August.

She was also reprimanded by Downing Street for suggesting the Foreign Office was aware of the meetings before they took place even though it was not.

On Tuesday No.10 confirmed Patel had suggested the UK send aid money to the Israeli army in the Golan Heights.

May was only made aware Patel had met Netanyahu last Friday – the day after the Israeli prime minister had held talks with the prime minister in Downing Street.

Theresa May meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah but was not aware he had met with Priti Patel in August.

Kate Osamor, the shadow international development secretary, told the Commons on Tuesday that it was “hard to think of a more black and white case of breaking the ministerial code of conduct”.

Labour MP Maria Eagle, a former Labour minister, said Patel should step down from the Cabinet.

“It appears to me to a be a gross breach of the exiting code of ministerial conduct. And every code of ministerial conduct that I have ever seen as a minister of some nine years standing in previous governments, I would have thought this was a resigning matter,” she said.

Labour had attempted to force Patel to the Commons to face questions from MPs on her conduct.

However MPs were told Patel was already in the air flying to Africa for a ministerial visit. Foreign Office minister Alistair Burt was sent to parliament in her place.

Burt confirmed that Foreign Office officials only became aware of Patel’s visit to Israel on August 24. “It seems likely that the meetings took place beforehand,” he said.

The minister said the Department for International Development (Dfid), Patel’s own department, was made aware of the meetings by the Foreign Office on the same day.

“She recognises she should have told people beforehand,” Burt said. “She has apologised that. She got that wrong.”

Burt said if he had met with Israeli officials “I would have told the ambassador of course”.

Asked about Patel’s reported wish to use British aid money to help fund Israeli army activity, Burt said: “Because we regard Golan Heights as occupied territory and because we can not support Israeli occupation of it, or give them any support, the answer to her query was ‘no’.”

Patel’s meetings in Israel between August 13 and 25 were arranged by the honorary president of the lobbying group Conservative Friends of Israel, Lord Polak, who also attended all but one.

On returning from her trip, Patel commissioned Dfid work on disability and humanitarian and development partnerships between Israel and the UK.
