Wear your pride on your sleeve, you never know who may be watching.
Over the last few months I’ve been overwhelmed with emotion over hate crimes against the queer community. In Portland, a beloved hair stylist and active member of many communities was stabbed and killed in a gay hate crime, he was followed from his work just 3 blocks from my home. In Russia hundreds of oppressed individuals who are “suspected” to be gay are being murdered by family members or thrown in concentration camps to be tortured and killed, supported by the government that’s supposed to protect them. These are just a few current attacks on our community. Nothing can undo these atrocities.
I believe those spirits deserve to live on through those of us who experience some levels of freedom. The only response I know is to be more proud of who I am, more vocal to those around me, and to create more beauty to combat the hatred. Only through personally bridging the gap between misunderstanding and acceptance can we hope to change minds of those who are blinded by hateful rhetoric that has been passed on through generations.

Trump Decides to Remove Steve Bannon; Bannon Says He Resigned Two Weeks Ago
Donald Trump will remove White House chief strategist Steve Bannon according to sources who spoke to the New York Times.
The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time.
As of Friday morning, the two men were still discussing Mr. Bannon’s future, the officials said. A person close to Mr. Bannon insisted the parting of ways was his idea, and that he had submitted his resignation to the president on Aug. 7, to be announced at the start of this week, but it was delayed in the wake of the racial unrest in Charlottesville, Va.
…Mr. Bannon’s departure was long rumored in Washington. The president’s new chief of staff, John F. Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general who was brought on for his ability to organize a chaotic staff, was said to have grown weary of the chief strategist’s long-running feud with Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, the national security adviser.
Following the news that Trump had decided to axe him, Bannon said he resigned two weeks ago.

Trump’s white nationalist, anti-LGBTQ, senior advisor Steve Bannon leaves the White House
NEW YORK – Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, released the following statement after it was announced Steve Bannon is out as White House Chief Strategist for the Trump Administration.
“Steve Bannon has built a career peddling white nationalism and placing large targets on the backs of marginalized communities, including LGBTQ people. From Day One, President Donald Trump has surrounded himself with anti-black, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-women, and anti-LGBTQ activists aimed at strengthening institutional discrimination and erasing LGBTQ Americans from the fabric of this nation. Steve Bannon may have resigned, but the fact that he even held the position of White House Chief Strategist is chilling, completely unacceptable, and will not be forgotten.”

Adult film site xHamster has written a letter to Lana and Lilly Wachowski following news that Sense8 was canceled by Netflix, asking if the porn site could serve as producer and distributor for the next season.
Said Vice President Alex Hawkins in a letter:
While we’re happy that Netflix is picking up the series for a conclusion, before you wrap up the story, we wanted you to consider another option – letting xHamster produce the series.

xHamster is currently one of the most trafficked websites on the internet. We get more visitors daily than the New York Times, ESPN or the Daily Mail. In short, we have the eyeballs and the revenue. Unlike with Netflix, you wouldn’t be competing for part of our production budget – it would be yours.
We also have the disposition. We know that a series about polymorphous perversity is a hard sell for a mainstream network like Netflix. We have no such limitations, and also understand implicitly the interconnectedness of sexualities across boundaries. In short, we are a we.
xHamster has a long history of fighting for the rights of sexual speech, and non-normative sexuality. In addition to allowing billions of users to connect with individual articulations of gender and sexuality, we continue to use our audience to speak up against repressive anti-LGBTQ laws in the US and abroad, and for sex ed in public schools Planned Parenthood and the right of sex workers.
We’d like to set up a meeting to see if there’s some fit for us in the future of Sense8. We know we’re an unlikely home. But five years ago, people laughed at the idea of Netflix producing original series. We think that our time, like yours, has come.
