Trump ComeyNO THANKS. Four top law firms turned down requests to represent Trump: “Among them, sources said, were some of the most high-profile names in the legal profession, including Brendan Sullivan of Williams & Connolly; Ted Olson of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Paul Clement and Mark Filip of Kirkland & Ellis; and Robert Giuffra of Sullivan & Cromwell.”

FAKE SIGNING CEREMONY. Trump held a fake signing ceremony for his infrastructure initiative: “It had all the trappings of a major bill-signing ceremony – Trump even surrounded himself with Republican members of Congress, who were only too pleased to accept ceremonial pens – except the president didn’t sign any legislation. There wasn’t even an executive order.”

RACIST SLUR. HBO will not fire or punish Bill Maher for his sleep-deprived moment.

AMERICAN IDEA. Trump Hotels launches new budget line of hotels: “Donald Trump, Jr. said the inspiration for American Idea, which has “nothing to do with politics,” came while he and his brother, Eric, traveled the United States during the 2016 presidential campaign and stayed in subpar local hotels, he said in a recent interview.”

STUCK IN THE LOBBY. What we’re all feeling right now.

GREATEST HOAX OF ALL TIME. Eric Trump says that’s what the Russia collusion investigation is.

BITCH GET OFF MY POLE. Zac Efron works it for Graham Norton.

NYT. America’s hidden HIV epidemic: “The crisis is most acute in Southern states, which hold 37 percent of the country’s population and as of 2014 accounted for 54 percent of all new H.I.V. diagnoses. The South is also home to 21 of the 25 metropolitan areas with the highest H.I.V. prevalence among gay and bisexual men. Jackson, the capital of Mississippi, the country’s poorest state, is best known for blues, barbecue and “The Help.” It also has the nation’s highest rate — 40 percent — of gay and bisexual men living with H.I.V., followed by Columbia, S.C.; El Paso; Augusta, Ga.; and Baton Rouge, La. In Jackson, a small city of just over 170,000, half a dozen black gay or bisexual men receive the shock of a diagnosis every month, and more than 3,600 people, the majority of them black men, live with the virus.”

MADRID. Gay traffic signals installed for LGBTQ Pride.

DUST DEVIL. German footballers decide it’s safe to sprint through a dust devil. “The dust devil shown was typical of most. These phenomena usually contain winds around 45 mph, are less than three-feet across and last less than a minute. Unlike tornadoes, they tend to cause little harm, although once in a great while grow large and violent and cause damage and injuries.”

Brother Outsider (2003)

This documentary honors the life and impact of openly gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, often called “the unknown hero” of the civil rights movement. Directed by Nancy Kates and Bennett Singer, the film focuses on the crucial role of Rustin’s work with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and as the architect of the 1963 March on Washington as well as his simultaneous ostracization due to being an out gay man at that time. Brother Outsider was the recipient of the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Documentary at the 15th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

How to Survive a Plague (2012)

Directed by out filmmaker David France, How to Survive a Plague tells the story of the early years of the HIV and AIDS epidemic and the efforts of two activist groups – ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group) – to put pressure on the medical establishment following its deadly, insufficient response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic. France describes the documentary as a tribute to the members of the LGBTQ community who fought for government response to the AIDS crisis. How to Survive a Plague was an Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature in 2012 and was awarded the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Documentary. National Geographic is currently developing a scripted miniseries based on France’s work.

The Way He Looks (2014)

The Way He Looks presents the coming of age story of Leo (Ghilherme Lobo), a blind, Brazilian teenager who struggles with independence. The story centers on Leo’s relationship with his best friend Giovana (Tess Amorim) and his attraction to new student, Gabriel (Fabio Audi). The Way He Looks was Brazil’s entry into the 2015 Academy Awards’ Best Foreign Language Film category and was nominated for the GLAAD Media Award in Outstanding Film – Limited Release.

Weekend (2011)

Weekend tells the story of Russell (Tom Cullen) and Glen (Chris New), two men who meet at a gay club and form a relationship the weekend before Glen is set to move out of the country. What was expected to be a one-night stand turns into something unique and special that allows both men to reflect on their experiences.

This collection also includes GLAAD Media Award-nominated scripted films Aimée & Jaguar (1999), Blue is the Warmest Color (2013), Howl (2010), and Your Sister’s Sister (2012), as well as GLAAD Media Award nominated documentaries Chris & Don: A Love Story (2008), Southern Comfort (2001), and Valentine Road (2013). Be sure to share your favorites of these films with us in the comments!

This provides you with an Extended 30 Day Free Trial to allow for access to the collection through the month of June. The offer expires on July 1st, 2017.

PULLING U.S. FROM U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL COULD ENDANGER LIVES AROUND THE GLOBE: HRC expressed concern about reports that the Trump administration may withdraw the United States from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which has taken historic steps to protect and promote the human rights and dignity of LGBTQ people around the globe. News of the threat comes amid scores of human rights crises around the globe, including the persecution and torture of LGBTQ people by the Chechen government, ISIS and other regimes worldwide. “Consider the message the United States would send to the world if it were to disengage from the UN Human Rights Council,” said Ty Cobb, Director of HRC Global. “U.S. foreign policy must protect and promote human rights. Turning away from the Council would signal to brutal regimes — and all those they oppress — that the U.S. is looking the other way. Without U.S. leadership, despotic leaders will be emboldened to control the agenda and push their own dangerous goals.” Last month, HRC submitted written testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in support of the UNHRC. More from The Guardian.
