Mighty Hoopla 4 June 2017
bitter69uk posted a photo:
I spent a pretty much sleepless Saturday night on 3 June, anxiously refreshing Guardian website and twitter for updates about the terrorist attack at London Bridge and Borough Market. What a great antidote to go to the Mighty Hoopla festival in Victoria Park in Hackney for my friend Louise’s birthday the following day – a boozy, celebratory and confrontational afternoon of drag queens, butch lezzas and fags-in-your-face. It felt extra defiant to be surrounded by unapologetic freaks clad in chaps and jockstraps with glitter in their beards. We spent pretty much the entire time at The Glory’s Bird Cage stage for performances by Baby Lame, John Sizzle and Jonny Woo. Stay fierce!

HRC members and supporters are joining hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ people, HRC supporters and our allies from all parts of the nation in a national day of action. We are marching in the #EqualityMarch in Washington, D.C., and the #ResistMarch in Los Angeles to celebrate the historic strides the LGBTQ community has achieved, while also peacefully marching against the Trump administration and other forces determined to strip away our basic human rights. Tag your videos and photos with #EqualityMarch and #ResistMarch to have them featured in our livestreams.
