As only she can do (and I’d recommend you watch both segments if you want a quick lesson), Rachel Maddow explained the backstory of the Russian hacking — Vladimir Putin’s rage at Hillary Clinton for calling out the “neither free nor fair” Russian election in 2011 that handed him the presidency.

“This is his payback for that.”

And the report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (you can read that too – it’s 5 pages) released yesterday validates that explanation.

“But when this thing came out publicly today,” Maddow added in her next segment, “there was one additional thing that this report taught us. It’s not about Russia. It’s not about Hillary Clinton. It’s not even about our last election. But it’s really important, and it’s about our new president.”

Continued Maddow:

“What we learned today…is that our new president will flat out lie to us. To our faces. And even put it in writing. Even when we can check for ourselves and see for ourselves that he is blatantly lying about a really big thing. He apparently will just bracingly lie to us even about really important national security stuff. And we learned that today if we didn’t believe it before.”

What Donald Trump said about the report was, “There was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election.”

Maddow goes on:

“He put out a written statement about what he learned in the briefing. And he blatantly, and overtly, bluntly, simply lied about what is in this report. Right before this report got publicly released so we could check ourselves and see that he was lying. I have to say I don’t get weirded out by a lot of stuff in the news but this puts a shiver down my spine.”

So “the idea of me and him banging is like a golden trophy of gossip for girls, this is going to be BIG for months on end.”

Such is the plight of a young Redditor who goes by the name julio55, who’s now reaching out to the community for any inkling of advice they might be willing to throw him.

But HelpmeRL thinks that’s wretched advice. “It’s a stupid coping mechanism” that “won’t be believed by most people.”

After all, he says, “why would you end up sleeping naked on the floor with a dude just to make sure you really don’t like anything about guys?”

HelpmeRL thinks he should just say he was swept up by the situation “and that it was totally fine but not something you would do again any time soon.”

“If you’re that hot,” says maidrey, “go on Tinder. and use that for your dating/hookup/whatever purposes for the current moment. Eventually your friends will catch on.”

Gay Armie Hammer Drama ‘Call Me By Your Name’ Picked Up by Sony Classics

Armie Hammer stars in the film adaptation of Andre Aciman’s beloved novel Call Me By Your Name, set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22.

Sony Pictures Classics has now bought up the worldwide rights to the film, directed by Italy’s Luca Guadagnino, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

Guadagnino’s I Am Love played Sundance in 2010, and he recently directed A Bigger Spash and the upcoming Suspiria. He co-wrote Call Me by Your Name‘s screenplay with James Ivory and Walter Fasano. Producers include Peter Spears, Emilie Georges, Guadagnino, Ivory, Marco Morabito, Howard Rosenman and Rodrigo Teixeira. Serving as executive producers are Naima Abed, Tom Dolby, Sophie Mas, Lourenco Sant’Anna, Derek Simonds and Margarethe Baillou. The film also contains original songs written and performed by Sufjan Stevens.

The deal was in the low- to mid-seven figures.

Hammer plays the story’s “24-year old American scholar spending the summer of 1983 in Northern Italy, where he attracts the attention of a 17-year-old Jewish-American boy, played by Timothee Chalamet.”

Adds The Wrap: “The film’s rating isn’t known yet, but the book involves several sexually explicit scenes that could raise the ratings board’s eyebrows if they end up in the finished cut.”

Here’s what’s really wrong with bathrooms (Hint: it’s not transgender people)

Cracked is out with a video detailing the real problem with public bathrooms in America. It isn’t transgender people, or predators using trans protections, assaulting people, the manufactured issue the right has used to pass bills like North Carolina’s House Bill 2 (HB2).

Firstly, we have been evacuating our bowels incorrectly. We should be squatting, like one is able to do with items like the Squatty Potty, and Cracked argues that’s where we should start with our bathroom issues.

While we’re at it, let’s add lids to the toilets and get rid of those annoying hand driers that not only take forever to get your hands dry but also spread bacteria and viruses into the air.

“Which is for breathing,” the video correctly notes. “So let’s protect our children from harmful, predatory bacteria, and longest Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert.”

Hastert was found guilty last year of illegally structuring bank transactions in order to keep secret payments he was making to cover up his sexual abuse of young students during his time as a wrestling coach.

They also point out that transgender people are the ones who have real reason to fear for their safety in public restrooms, as they are often the victims of violence.
