Former intern claims Piers Morgan used him to try to frame gay youth group for pedophilia

Piers Morgan

Author and journalist Benjamin Myers has claimed that as a News of the World intern, Piers Morgan tried to use him to help frame a gay youth group for pedophilia.

Myers made the claims on Twitter, where he said that as a teen he was paid to spy on the group for gay teens, as Morgan was convinced there must be something more sinister going on than just offering support to vulnerable LGBTQ youth.

He said Morgan assumed they must be involved in a child sex ring, despite having no evidence.

“And so that night I found myself in a youth club playing the role of a sexually confused 16-year-old who had just moved into the area and was seeking some friendship and, hopefully, according to my new reporter friend, the advances of some predatory nonce,” Myers wrote on Vice. “Ideally they would want to pass me and – fingers crossed – some of the younger members of the youth club into the grubby mitts of a child abuse ring.”

When Myers returned, assuring that the lesbian couple who ran the group were good people, Morgan was apparently unconvinced.

“No, no, no, I said. They’re good people. Really nice. Well-meaning,” Myers wrote. “You’ll have to go back next week, I was told. There must be something shady going on. We’ll find something. Don’t you worry. We’ll find something on them.”

Myers continued:

“Like a young eager news hound out to make his name I went back again. When the night was over and the reporter and photographer had enjoyed another curry, we met in the nearby pub…Was there even a hint of underage gay sex, they asked again. Can we frame the lesbians? No, I said. And by this time I had decided that even if there was anything dodgy I was not about to tell these cretins so that they could splash it all over the pages of a newspaper that would be read by three million people come Sunday. That would help nobody but them and Murdoch’s accountants.”

It was at that point that Myers decided he wanted nothing to do with the paper.

While the tweets appear to have been deleted, Pink News grabbed screenshots before they were taken down, which you can see below.

Morgan is upset at Ewan McGregor for skipping out on an interview with him, hence Myers’ last tweet about him being “one of the good guys.”

McGregor backed out of an appearance on “Good Morning Britain” when he realized Morgan was the presenter, objecting to his calling those at the recent Women’s March on Washington “rabid feminists.”

Years after Myers realized Morgan’s willingness to sink low to get a story, Morgan would be forced to admit to having knowledge that he ran stories based on phone hacking while working as the paper’s editor, a scandal which ultimately shuttered the 164-year-old publication for good.

Mary Tyler Moore

Television and cultural icon Mary Tyler Moore has died at the age of 80, the Washington Post reports:

Mara Buxbaum, a representative of Ms. Moore, announced the death in a statement. The actress, who had a home in Greenwich, struggled with diabetes much of her life and underwent brain surgery in 2011 to remove a benign tumor from the lining tissue around her brain.

Ms. Moore, who played the spunky housewife on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” in the 1960s and an idealistic career woman on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 1970s, was an actress of dynamic range and accomplishment. She won a 1980 Tony Award for playing a quadriplegic sculptor in “Whose Life Is It Anyway?” and an Emmy for her role as a villainous orphanage director in the TV production “Stolen Babies” (1993). She was nominated for an Oscar as the frosty matriarch in “Ordinary People” (1980), Robert Redford’s directorial debut.

Donald Trump just issued a press release boasting about how great he is; internet begs to differ

So Donald Trump ordered his Press Secretary to draft up a totally pointless press release about how great he is and post it to the White House’s official webpage this morning.

“For immediate release,” the presser reads. “Praise For President Trump’s Bold Action.”

What follows is a bullet point list of a dozen or so tweets, quotes, and excerpts from various media outlets — including two from Fox News — that have said favorable things about Donald Trump since he took office less than a week ago.

The press release is meant to offer “alternative facts” to counter all the negative “fake news” that the mainstream media has been reporting about the Snowflake-in-Chief over the past five days.

The quotes include words like “incredible,” “phenomenal,” “a winner,” “positive,” “inspiring,” and “optimistic.”

A Sundance feature that includes genuinely hot gay sex scenes? Yes, indeed.

This the first we’ve heard of Beach Rats, a film The Daily Beast is hailing as “the rare gay drama, and maybe the next wave of queer storytelling, that makes you feel uncomfortable.”

Eliza Hittman’s followup to It Felt Like Love is set in Coney Island and centers around Frankie, a teenager who compulsively cruises gay hookup sites that stars model-turned-actor Harris Dickinson, who reportedly gives “one of the most grueling, sensual, and captivating star turns at Sundance.”

“And,” The Daily Beast is eager to point out, “certainly one of the most enticingly naked.”

Well, we’d by lying if we said we weren’t curious.

Related: Well. So Here’s Every Sex Scene In “King Cobra.” (And There’s Plenty.)

As The Guardian reports, “Hittman was inspired to make Beach Rats after seeing a shirtless selfie online, captivated by the fine line between heteronormative bravado and homoeroticism.”

“I was completely happy to be part of something that did normalize male nudity,” Dickinson, who’s straight, tells The Daily Beast.

I was talking to someone the other day who asked about it, and I said to them, “Have you seen how much female nudity there is throughout the history of film and TV?” So yeah, I was comfortable with it, and I’m quite comfortable with my sexuality and my body.”

There’s no official trailer yet, but you can at least get acquainted with Dickinson through this “selfie interview”:

Boy George Talks About George Michael’s Later Years and Their Reported Feud: WATCH

Boy George Talks About George Michael’s Later Years and Their Reported Feud: WATCH

Boy George

Eighties pop icon Boy George spoke with Watch What Happens Live! host Andy Cohen about his fellow ’80s pop icon, the late George Michael.

Boy George said that in the early days they were competitive if only because of a few similarities:

“In the early days, we were competition to each other. We were both called George, both made soul music. So in the early days, we were really in competition. Then sort of later on, I started to really appreciate him as a musician — you know, right around “Faith”. I started to really appreciate his talent, you know?”

Later, the two were reported to be feuding over Michael’s hesitancy to come out of the closet. Boy George said everyone was doing it:

“It wasn’t really a feud. In the ’80s, everyone — Pete Burns, me, we all used to like, be really bitchy about each other. It’s like the thing that you did in the ’80s in those pop magazines. Now it’s the Housewives who do it! Nowadays it’s a bit more respectful but in the ’80s, you just said vile things about everyone.”

And he said Michael never allowed people to get too close to him, so he knew about as much about his “personal issues” as anyone else:

“I read stuff in the papers, obviously. But I never knew kind of really what…he was very kind of…kept people out, he was quite private.”
