Is There A Shady Secret Message On TIME’s Donald Trump Cover?

donald-trump-is-the-devilBy now, you’ve seen the front cover of TIME‘s new issue; pored over Tweets from 19-year-olds who are furious Trump has been named “Person of the Year,” and skimmed Facebook posts from 29-year-olds reminding everyone Adolf Hitler shared the title back in 1933, and it’s not a “tremendous honor,” as Donald Trump seems to think it is.

But did you happen to notice that there might be a shady secret message printed on the cover? As GQ points out, Trump’s head appears strategically placed under the “M” so that it looks like he’s Satan, The Horned One, Our Infernal Father of Pestilence:

Is everybody reading too much into this, or is TIME’s art department trying their hand at being sly? Hard to say, but if we were Satan’s, we’d be really pissed right now.

Trump Picks Anti-Gay Iowa Governor Terry Branstad for Ambassador to China

Trump Picks Anti-Gay Iowa Governor Terry Branstad for Ambassador to China

Donald Trump has named Iowa’s anti-gay governor, Terry Branstad, as his ambassador to China.

The Washington Post reports:

Branstad has extensive ties to China and a personal friendship with Chinese President Xi Jinping that dates back decades. If his nomination goes through, the move could help reassure China’s leadership that Trump understands the importance of healthy relations with Beijing. […]

Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller told reporters later Wednesday that Branstad has accepted the president-elect’s offer.

“Governor Branstad obviously is Iowa’s longest-serving governor, someone who has considerable public policy experience but also someone who has a lot of experience and great grasp of trade issues, agriculture issues, has a tremendous understanding of China and Chinese people [and] is someone who very much impressed the president-elect,” Miller said. “It’s very clear that Governor Branstad is someone who will represent our country well on the world stage, and we couldn’t be prouder of this selection.”

Branstad, who remains a devout believer in so-called “traditional marriage”, was famously on the record in favor of banning same-sex marriage in The Hawkeye State after the state Supreme Court made it legal for same-sex couples to marry in 2009.

Branstad was also accused in 2012 of discriminating against a state commissioner because he is gay. Former Iowa Workers Compensation Commissioner Chris Godfrey sued Branstad in 2012, alleging that his sexuality motivated Branstad to ask him to resign and cut his pay after he refused.

Watch a report on Branstad’s appointment, along with comments from Branstad on why he supports a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.

Trump Says Obama Helped Him Choose His Cabinet Full Of Homophobes

Trump Says Obama Helped Him Choose His Cabinet Full Of Homophobes

obama-trum-white-house

A shift has taken over President-elect Trump in the weeks since his astonishing election upset, predictable and irksome all at once. Remember that illegitimate Kenyan-born terrorist sympathizer Trump warned for years was wrecking havoc from the White House? Well these days Trump seems to be a big fan of President Obama. And that’s understandable as both sides work towards a peaceful transition of power, a cornerstone of our democracy.

But that congeniality can only go so far, and for his part, Obama has been tight-lipped, saying he’s rooting for Trump’s success because “We all want what’s best for this country.” What else can he say, really?

Trump, on the other hand, is playing up his relationship with the outgoing president to the point of insult, which if he were a character in Street Fighter, would be a signature offensive move. Most recently, Trump hsd spoken about consulting with the president on his impending appointments, suggesting Obama helped guide them.

Speaking to NBC’s Today, Trump said, “I have asked [President Obama] what he would think of this one and that one. I would say that, yes, I take his recommendations very seriously, and there are some people that I will be appointing, and in one case have appointed, where he thought very highly of that person, yes.”

He declined to mention which of his public appointments have come at the supposed blessing of Obama, but scanning the list of them, it’s hard to see where the President’s influence might be felt.

Obama’s administration was the most diverse in history — women and minorities held the majority of top positions for the first time ever. It fought for LGBTQ rights, for women, for minorities, for families.

Trump doubled down in an interview with Time, after being named the magazine’s “Person of the Year” (for reference, Hitler was person of the year in the same publication 78 years ago).

Speaking of the president, Trump said, “We talked about some of the potential appointments that I would make. I wanted to get his opinion. And he gave me some opinions on some people that were very interesting to me, and that meant something to me. I believe in asking people. We have different views but he loves our country. And he wants what’s good for our country. So I did talk to him about certain people that I’m thinking about. Got his ideas.”

Trump may try and take credit for Obama’s progress on healthcare, or jobs, or the economy — but if he’s hoping to pin the despicable cast of characters he’s lined up in the wings to assume the most powerful positions in the land on the outgoing president, he needs a new game plan.

Trump’s “drain the swamp” appointments have been proven time and time again to be the exact opposite, and that’s to say nothing of the fact that many of his incoming ilk have some serious antigay skeletons in their closets. Sorry Donald, this one’s on you.

After the two met in the White House for a 90-minute post-election meeting, Trump explained, “I’ve now gotten to know President Obama. I really like him. We have — I think, I can say at least for myself, I can’t speak for him, but we have a really good chemistry together.”

Obama presidential historian and journalist David Remnick put it a bit differently in The New Yorker

The official line at the White House was that the hour-and-a-half meeting with Trump went well and that Trump was solicitous. Later, when I asked Obama how things had really gone, he smiled thinly and said, “I think I can’t characterize it without . . . ” Then he stopped himself and said that he would tell me, “at some point over a beer—off the record.”

He, like us, isn’t expecting that beer any time soon. But it doesn’t take a mind reader to detect some signature-Trump bull crap in this whole “Obama thinks I’m fantastic and helped me pick my antigay cabinet” narrative.

Paranormal Organization Claims Gay Men are Possessed by Female Ghosts

Paranormal Organization Claims Gay Men are Possessed by Female Ghosts

gay ghosts

According to a paranormal organization 85% of all gay men aren’t really gay, they’re just possessed by female ghosts that cause them to have attractions towards men.

The Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SRF), which has 12,000 followers on Twitter, claims, “The main reason behind the gay orientation of some men is that they are possessed by female ghosts. It is the female ghost in them that is attracted to other men.”

As you might imagine, they believe that lesbians are possessed by male ghost.

“The ghost’s consciousness overpowers the person’s normal behaviour to produce the homosexual attraction,” the group writes on their website. They cite “Spiritual research” as proving that “the cause for homosexual preferences lie predominantly in the spiritual realm.”

According to the SRF, only 5% of gay people are gay due to “hormonal changes.” Ten percent are considered gay because they had “an experience with a person of the same sex as a teenager or young adult that was pleasurable and therefore wanting to experience it again.” However, the vast majority of gay people, 85%, exhibit same-sex attraction because of ghosts, they say.

causes-of-homosexuality

SRF also says that gay pride parades are evidence of the “decline” of humankind:

Organizing such Parades in the name of human rights and freedom does not indicate that society is progressing. In fact, this evidences its decline. The human race needs to know what is right and what is wrong. Just as we teach children not to play in dirty water or eat mud, we need to educate society what is correct from a spiritual perspective. By failing to do so, we run the risk of a further decline in Righteousness and consequently people in society will become more unhappy.

The good news, SRF says, is that “Homosexuality can be overcome by regular spiritual practice.” SRF offers “some simple steps” to rid you of your homosexuality.

What might those steps be? Thankfully, SRF spells them out.

Check them out, below.

Educators Report Rise in Bullying Behavior Post-Election

Educators Report Rise in Bullying Behavior Post-Election

Pictured above: An educator uses a Welcoming Schools lesson plan addressing bias-based bullying in her classroom.

Post submitted by Michele Hatchell, Welcoming Schools Expert Trainer

A new Teaching Tolerance report, After Election Day, The Trump Effect: The Impact of the 2016 Presidential Election on Our Nation’s Schools, documents in stark detail how educators have seen school climates negatively affected by the results of the recent presidential campaign during which marginalized groups were targeted for derision and harassment.

The report compiles the results of a survey taken by more than 10,000 educators from across the nation.

Ninety percent of the educators surveyed reported that school climates have been harmed by the election of Donald Trump, and a majority said they believe the negative effects will continue to impact their school for some time. Teachers also reported heightened anxiety among immigrant, Muslim, African-American and LGBTQ students.

The teachers described an increase in the use among students of slurs and derogatory language, along with disturbing incidents involving swastikas, Nazi salutes and Confederate flags. The report also cited more than 2,500 specific incidents of bigotry and harassment that can be directly traced to election rhetoric — from assaults on both students and teachers to acts of vandalism depicting hate symbols and speech.

What Can We Do?

Many educators are wondering what they can do to foster healthier school climates during this difficult time. The report offers recommendations to help school leaders manage student anxiety and combat hate speech and acts of bias. Additionally, Welcoming Schools recommends the following resources:.

1. Use Welcoming Schools Lesson Plans

We particularly recommend our K-2 lesson “Words That Hurt, Words That Heal”, and using the book One by Kathryn Otoshi to work with young children to practice kindness and inclusion. ”Ally or Bystander” is an effective lesson plan for students in grades 3-6, and teaches students how to react to bullying incidents in the moment.

To see our lesson plans in action, check out our film ”What Can We Do?”, which showcases experienced educators using Welcoming Schools lesson plans and best practices.

2. Bring A Welcoming Schools Facilitator To Your School

Welcoming Schools cadre of national facilitators are available to provide professional development to your staff to improve school climate. Contact us today to talk about holding a training at your school.

Tufts University Launches Frat Crackdown After Gay Student Writes Horrifying Account Of Being Hazed

Tufts University Launches Frat Crackdown After Gay Student Writes Horrifying Account Of Being Hazed

Major drama at historic Tufts University.

The university and Tufts Police have just launched “multiple investigations into several Greek organizations” and issued cease-and-desist orders to four fraternities after an explosive article by a gay student appeared in a campus magazine last month alleging “profoundly troubling behavior in our fraternity system,” according to officials.

The article was written by Ben Kesslen, a gay sophomore at the university. During his freshmen year, while he was still figuring out his place in campus culture, Kesslen decided to join a fraternity.

“I was seeking validation in all the wrong places,” he writes in hindsight. “I wanted to be included in an organization and a system that I had previously thought would never accept me. I wanted approval from the men who had rejected me all my life.”

He hooked up with what he believed to be one of the “good” fraternities. He would soon learn this wasn’t the case.

His very first night of rush week proved to be deeply upsetting.

“They brought two women—neither of whom were Tufts students—into the basement, who proceeded to disrobe and have sex with each other on a mattress on the basement floor while we were all told to watch,” Kesslen writes. “When I asked to leave, I was told I could step towards the back but couldn’t exit the basement. I was pressured to stay, and too afraid to defend myself.”

Kesslen stood there uncomfortably as the other pledges were forced to perform oral sex on the women to see who could bring them to orgasm first.

“I watched on the outside, often turning my eyes away, horrified and disgusted,” he continues, “standing next to seniors in the fraternity enraptured by the scene, standing next to Tufts alumni who had returned to this off-campus basement to watch this “tradition.’”

Other offenses he witnessed that night included pledges “being fed shots or forced to do homoerotic and homophobic tasks or made to eat other pledges’ vomit.”

Kesslen chose to drop the fraternity the next day and was warned by the brothers not to tell anyone about what had gone down.

School administrators called the behavior described in Kesslen’s article “deeply disturbing” and said it went against the university’s values and “a variety of laws including those against hazing and sexual misconduct.”

Additionally, the university’s InterFraternity Council suspended all recruitment efforts at all of the school’s 13 fraternities and sororities through spring 2017. Eight fraternities have been required to attend a mandatory sexual misconduct prevention class, an alcohol education session, and training with a hazing prevention expert.

“These preliminary steps do not preclude further appropriate action being taken by the University, but have been implemented as interim measures pending the outcome of the current investigations,” school officials said.

As for Kesslen, he would like to see fraternities banned from the school altogether.

“My narrative alone warrants the abolition of fraternities, and so many other things happen that are just as terrible or even worse,” he writes. “This should scare us.”

He concludes: “We are beyond a point where these institutions can be reformed. Next time you find yourself in the basement of a fraternity on a Saturday night, I ask you think to about what happens there when you aren’t invited.”

Referring to the president-elect, Kelly said, “I have high hopes for him. Despite the tweets and all the rest of it, there is much to admire about Donald Trump.”

Griffin, one of the many industry heavy-hitters in attendance, loudly booed Kelly, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

Kelly retorted, “There is. Stop that, stop that.” She added, “There’s room for the loyal opposition in this country, absolutely.”

“F*** him,” Griffin replied back.

“Guess who that is? Kathy Griffin,” Kelly said, to more laughter from the audience.
