“We started getting increased call volume at about 10 p.m. on election night, and it hasn’t slowed down at all. In fact, it’s on the rise still.”

Steve Mendelsohn, deputy executive director of The Trevor Project, told Mother Jones that “ninety-five percent” of the people phoning in are “worried about the election results.”
And they’re telling us that they’re feeling anxious and scared…
They talk about things that came up during the election campaign. So a fear that perhaps gay marriage will be reversed. Or that conversion therapy will be promoted. Or that their insurance might be taken away.”
“No question a lot of transgender students and their parents woke up Wednesday morning really scared,” says Sarah McBride, Human Rights Campaign’s national press secretary.
As DNA Info reports, this news is emblematic of a greater trend that saw fa large uptick in suicide prevention hotline calls all across the nation.

“This is clearly a public health crisis,” he said during a press conference on Monday.

United Airlines Passengers Cheer as Pilot Smacks Down Heated Political Argument: WATCH
Two passengers having a political argument over the US election on a United Airlines flight to Mexico last week received a stern lecture from the pilot, who defused the situation and warned that such conflict is inappropriate “in a metal tube at 35,000 feet.”
Wrote the YouTube user who posted the video:
On my friend’s…flight from SFO to Mexico, some kinda scuffle broke out where an individual with a “plaid shirt and a camo cap” said something racist (about being “glad to have kept his guns”) to an African American lady, and she began to cry and freak out. They separated the two of them, and then the Captain of the flight got on the PA and made this announcement.
Here’s what the pilot said over the PA system:
“I understand everybody has their opinions; that’s fine. If you support him (Trump), great. If you don’t, I understand. However, we’re out here to go to Puerto Vallarta, supposed to be having a good time, and what I do ask is that as people we have the common decency to respect each others’ decisions and to get along on this three hour and 13 minute flight so that we can have a good time when we get down there.”
The pilot added:
“Nobody wants to argue. No one’s going to change their minds by arguing. Let’s keep our opinions to ourselves on this particular matter at this particular time. When cooler heads prevail and we can talk and realize that we’re all human beings and we all can stick together and we can all pull for this country in our own way, then that’s what we should do….If anybody has a problem with this, that needs to vent or rant or rave, there’s another flight tomorrow. You’re not going to be on this one, I hope that’s clear.”
Watch:
United Airlines released a statement to NBC News:
“The pilot was made aware of an incident onboard and used the intercom to diffuse the situation and insure the safety of everyone onboard. The flight continued without any further reports of disturbance.”

What Was 50 Cent Doing Partying At A Gay Club?
This weekend, revelers were both surprised and confused to find 50 Cent partying at Voyeur, a popular gay nightclub in Philadelphia.
Despite saying that he “ain’t into fag*ots” in 2014, and blaming the slumpy Empire ratings on having too much “gay stuff,” he has crates full of Effen vodka brand to sell.

“We thought it was a good idea to bring 50 Cent to Voyeur to promote his brand,” co-owner Billy Weiss told G Philly. “We’re planning to work with the community to prove we’re inclusive — we have a hip-hop music lounge upstairs [at Voyeur] and plan on hosting an upcoming community forum at Woody’s that will address any problems people have with management.”
G Philly describes the scene on Saturday as “a packed house” that played “uncensored hip-hop” (?) until five in the morning.
There was also a live drummer, some female exotic dancers, and some guy in a light-up bodysuit being awkward.
Because people aren’t stupid, they saw the event for what it was.

“Why 50 Cent — he’s not even gay,” 25-year-old Davante Rashad told G Philly. “He’s homophobic as fuck and he’s just using us to buy his fucking vodka.”
“I haven’t heard this much rap music played here in one night,” said Jay Simmons, 27. “They really trying to get those black coins.”
Whenever asked why he was at the gay club, 50 Cent would respond with a robotic “I’m here for Effen vodka,” and that’s it.

Donald Trump Linked To Five-Fold Increase In Calls To Trans Suicide Prevention Hotline
Reports are surfacing that LGBT suicide prevention hotlines are seeing huge increases in calls following Donald Trump’s election.
While Trans Hotline has received at least five times the calls it usually gets, the Trevor Project reported more than double the number of calls on Wednesday last.
Gretta Martela of Trans Hotline told Mother Jones: “We started getting increased call volume at about 10 p.m. on election night, and it hasn’t slowed down at all. In fact, it’s on the rise still.”
100% of LGBT Americans are at risk because Mike Pence believes in conversion therapy and he’ll have more control over Trump than Trump will.

The hotline normally receives about 100 calls a day. However, in the 24 hours starting at around 10pm on election night Martela said it had received 523 calls.
Martela said that callers expressed concerns that many advancements in LGBT rights made under the Obama administration will be lost under Trump. Callers were also worried about an increase in anti-trans hate crimes and that a potential Supreme Court ruling could deny them access to bathrooms that match their gender identity, and a rise in anti-trans violence.
Trevor Project deputy executive director Steve Mendelsohn said:
“Ninety-five percent of [callers] tell us that they’re worried about the election results. And they’re telling us that they’re feeling anxious and scared…
“They talk about things that came up during the election campaign. So a fear that perhaps gay marriage will be reversed. Or that conversion therapy will be promoted. Or that their insurance might be taken away.”
Sarah McBride, a transgender activist and national press secretary at the Human Rights Campaign added that there is “no question a lot of transgender students and their parents woke up Wednesday morning really scared.”
Trump said following his election that same-sex marriage is not an issue because “it was settled in the Supreme Court.” However, many are worried about the influence of VP-elect Mike Pence given his support for gay conversion therapy and other anti-LGBT stances.
Meanwhile, Buzzfeed has cautioned that Trump could impact “regulations that protect LGBT patients, renters, and homeless people,” along with re-implementing the bans on gay and transgender service members.

Bernie Sanders Breaks Down The Worst Case Scenario Of A Trump Presidency
Bernie Sanders was quick to state the obvious during his Monday night appearance on The Late Show, succinctly telling Stephen Colbert that “it’s been a tough week.”
Above and beyond the incredible bigotry of the Trump campaign, what he did was he tapped into a lot of pain and anxiety and angst that the American people are feeling which is very rarely reported in the media or understood by the punditry….At the end of the Trump campaign Trump was posing as a hero of the working class of America. Now I happen not to believe him. I hope I’m wrong….
Hillary Clinton ended up with two million more votes than Donald Trump. So don’t think of this as a massive success for Trump. He lost the popular vote. Second of all, he comes into the White House as the least popular candidate in the history of this country.”
Related: It’s High Time We Discuss Hillary Clinton’s Insanely Hot Nephew, Tyler
Later, Saunders discusses what the worst case scenario of Trump’s presidency would look like:
The worst case, if not Trump himself, people around Trump are saying, ‘hmm, let’s see, we’ve got the House, the Senate, we’ve got the White House, we’re going to have the Supreme Court, we’re going to change the rules of the game so we don’t lose anymore.’ … They can make it worse by doing away with all campaign finance laws…and on top of that they will move forward more vigorously in voter suppression.
Making it harder for poor people, for old people, for people of color to actually vote. Put up all kinds of restrictions. You do those things -unleash billionaires to buy elections – make it hard for millions of people to participate, they think they can control this government indefinitely.”

‘The Show Must Go On’ for Billy Gilman with Queen Cover That Brings Judges to Their Feet: WATCH
Billy Gilman made his bid for the Top 11 last night on The Voice with an ambitious, soaring cover of Queen’s classic “The Show Must Go On”.
The former country music child star, who came out as gay in 2014, has been ascending the show’s ranks with performances of tracks by Roy Orbison, Adele, Michael Jackson, and Rachel Platten, but this week’s may have been his most vocally-ambitious yet.
During rehearsals with coach Adam Levine and key adviser Garth Brooks, it was revealed the country superstar already knew the contestant from his early career. “What I heard today, the future now belongs to him,” Brooks said. And to Gilman, the song represented his reemergence in the music scene.
Now his live performance led to a standing ovation from all four coaches. Levine even stood on his chair, yelling to the crowd, “Stand up!” Blake Shelton spoke first, saying the performance was “amazing,” and reflecting on how far Gilman has come. “You are a million times better as an adult,” he said.
