SNL Takes on the Vulgar Trump Tapes: WATCH

Alec Baldwin Trump

Saturday Night Live opened its show last night by diving right in to the 2005 Trump tapes and the Republican nominee’s vulgar brags about assaulting women. Alec Baldwin returned as Trump who was asked what he would say to women voters offended by the “grab them by the pussy” remarks.

Said Baldwin’s Trump:

“I would say this, listen women, if you give me a chance I promise I can do a whole lot more than just grab it. I can also bop it, twist it, and pull it.”

The sketch then cut to Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) for her reaction to the release of the tapes.

Rudy Giuliani Floats New Trump Plan: Portray Hillary as ‘Attacker’ of Women Abused by Bill

Rudy Giuliani Floats New Trump Plan: Portray Hillary as ‘Attacker’ of Women Abused by Bill

Rudy Giuliani hillary attacker

Rudy Giuliani, as the only surrogate willing to step out and defend Trump since the emergence of the tape on Friday night in which he brags about sexually assaulting women, appeared on several morning talk shows Sunday.

Giuliani told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press that there’s no way Trump won’t show up to the debate, and there’s no way he’ll drop out of the race.

The interview then quickly got into a discussion of the tapes.

It’s not right to say it whether you’re a politician or you’re not,” said Giuliani, after excusing Trump because he made the remarks when he wasn’t running for president.

“He’s bragging about making unwanted sexual advances,” says Todd. “You’re saying that the words are wrong. How about the actions?”

Replied Giuliani: “Well, the actions would be even worse if they were actions. Talk and action are two different things.”

He then added:

“I’m not implying it was made up. I said we’re talking about things that he was talking about. I don’t know how much he was exaggerating; I don’t know how much is true. I certainly don’t know the details of it. But I do know that this is unfortunately the kind of talk that goes on among a lot of people and they shouldn’t talk about this. This is wrong. He realizes that. He understands it now.”

Giuliani ended the interview by previewing something he thought Trump might bring up at tonight’s debate – Hillary Clinton’s role as “the attacker” of women raped and sexually abused by Bill Clinton.

Said Giuliani

“I do believe there’s a possibility he’ll talk about Hillary Clinton’s, uh, situation – if it gets to that. I don’t think he prefers to do that, but I think he will.”

When asked to clarify what “situation” he was referring to, Giuliani added:

“What I’m talking about are the things that she has said and that have been reported in various books and magazines and other places about the women that bill Clinton raped, sexually abused and attacked. Not Bill Clinton’s role – but her role as the attacker.”

Watch the Meet the Press segment:

The “Hillary as attacker” line of attack is one that Trump previewed himself in his “apology” video on Saturday morning, saying, “Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days.”

Giuliani also tried to play Trump’s remarks off as “exaggeration” on This Week with George Stephanopoulos:

— This Week (@ThisWeekABC) October 9, 2016

And on CNN’s State of the Union, Giuliani again floated the idea of “gosh almighty there were plenty of things…particularly Hillary Clinton attacking the women who Bill Clinton sexually assaulted, sexually abused, and she was the leader of the attack against them…”

In response to Giuliani @Jaketapper: “I have never said that. I have never done that. I am happy to throw a stone.” t.co/wmbrlSRMtR

All Your Favorite Iconic Queer Trailblazers Illustrated

In 2014, artist Michele Rosenthal embarked on a project not knowing what the final outcome would be.

“I began creating portraits of some of my favorite historical queer people, writing a sentence or two about each and sharing them on Tumblr,” she explains on her website. “At first I only had a handful of people in mind, but the names quickly multiplied.”

As she got deeper and deeper into the project, the small “handful” of portraits grew to 20, then 40, then 60. And those short bios of the subjects became several meticulously-researched paragraphs.

“Two years later, I took my first 60 illustrations and created queerportraits.com, a permanent home for the project,” Rosenthal explains. “It’s designed to be a fun and accessible entry point to LGBTQ history.”

Many of the people Rosenthal features are popular figures within LGBTQ history. Others are lesser known, but no less influential.

“This project has definitely been a labor of love,” she tells Queerty in an email. “There are 60 portraits and bios on the website so far, and I’m constantly adding more.”

Check out some of the portraits below, and see the entire collection at queerportraits.com. The prints are also available for purchase…

Now Trump Fans Are Attacking Anderson Cooper As Biased Because–Well, You Know

Now Trump Fans Are Attacking Anderson Cooper As Biased Because–Well, You Know

Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper is one of the journalists moderating the presidential candidate Town Hall on Sunday. In anticipation of yet another cruddy performance by Donald Trump (he’s making a mockery of debate prep again), his supporters have decided to go after Cooper with a combination of gay-baiting and loony conspiracy theories.

Of course, Prince Tiny Hands himself started the attacks. Last month, Trump complained that Cooper would be “very, very biased,” adding “I don’t think he can be fair.”

The crazies that swirl around Trump like moths to a flame (or flies to a dung heap) obviously took this as a green light to pre-emptively criticize Cooper’s performance. Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh have already proclaimed that debate is rigged because Cooper and fellow moderator Martha Raddatz are in the tank for Hillary.

Needless to say, the gay-baiting thing had to be part of the attack. Right-wing sites grouse that Cooper supports same-sex marriage, which is against the Republican platform.  They fume that Cooper’s partner, Ben Maisani, contributed to Hillary Clinton‘s campaign, although no one has suggested that Rudy Giuliani is a Hillary mole because his daughter says she will vote for Clinton.

What particularly rankles is Cooper raking Florida Attorney General Pam Biondi (a grateful recipient of Trump Foundation largesse) over the coals for being a complete hypocrite about the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. In normal circles, what Cooper did is called solid journalism, but Trump supporters don’t travel in those circles.

Of course, no attack would be complete without someone deciding that veiled hints aren’t enough. Radio host Alex Jones, who has reserved a place for himself in the highest reaches of Nutburger Heaven, not only goes after Cooper with undisguised homophobia but throws in a conspiracy theory for good measure.

“So what happens this Sunday?” Jones asked on his radio show. “What happens with this big royal rumble with the known CIA operative Anderson twinkle-toes, bite your pillow hosting it?”

Jones is best known for insisting that Barack Obama is gay, that the government is putting chemicals in potato chip bags that are making people and frogs gay, and that Marco Rubio (also gay) is obsessed with Trump’s “package.”

Clearly Jones barely has a nodding acquaintance with reality.

As for the CIA agent bit: there is a grain of truth in it. Cooper did intern for two summers at the CIA twenty years ago. He says that the experience was “pretty bureaucratic and mundane, at least the little bit that I saw of it.”

Of course, you know he’ll really be employing all those secret interrogation techniques that the CIA trained him in against Trump come Sunday night.

Celebrating Your Child’s Identity: A Parent’s Perspective

Celebrating Your Child’s Identity: A Parent’s Perspective

Post submitted by JR, a Dad for Transgender Equality

My name is JR and live with my wife and our two kids in Washington, D.C. Ellie is our five-year-old daughter. She is like any five-year-old kid: energetic, rambunctious, sometimes quiet, argues (and wrestles) with her older brother, comes into our bed in the middle of the night, loves to paint, and ride her bike.

That’s all that matters, right? It’s important, especially in today’s society. Ellie is an awesome little daughter. She is also transgender. That doesn’t define her. She knows the term and understands that she is unique. She is also way more than that. I learn more about her every single day: her extraordinary personality, her creative ideas, her thoughts on everything (keep ‘em coming!), and what makes her happy and sad.

I attempt to indulge in my kids’ presence every single day no matter how tired or frustrated I might be after work. Having such awesome kids and my incredible wife makes me extremely happy and appreciative. I can’t imagine not loving and supporting any of them, especially Ellie.

What is this all about?
My daughter Ellie came to us at the age of four and told us how she truly felt. She told us she was a girl. This happened on her birthday about a year and half ago. It wasn’t a huge surprise. For the past year we thought we had a son who love dresses – we were wrong. It turns out we had a girl who loved dresses.

What did you do to support her?
My wife instantly started researching it meant to be transgender. There were many questions we needed to understand – What does it mean? Were there resources in our area that could help us? Were there online groups we could join? What are the major issues surrounding transgender kids, teens, and adults? What does this mean for Ellie as she gets older?

What does this mean for me?
What I have learned so far is that being a supportive dad gives my transgender kid an incredible chance young trans daughter to live a positive and healthy life. We all have the right to live our lives as authentically as possible.

What does this mean for her?
To me, being authentic means you are not limiting yourself to the traditional societal norms that most of us follow. You do what makes you happy. To me, my role as a supportive father is more important than ever – helping Ellie live her life to the fullest. I am more aware that loving my transgender daughter has shattered my limitations on loving her and other transgender people.

It’s an emotional topic. It’s really stressful knowing the statistics surrounding transgender people who are not loved and supported by the circle of family, friends, and community. I am absolutely fortunate that my wife, my family, and my friends are “all in”. The village is here.

How is Ellie doing?
Ellie is functioning as a five-year-old – tantrums, eating only hot dogs and cheese sticks, wrestling with her older brother, painting and coloring up a storm. She’s also very cognizant of being transgender. She has questions about how she will be a mother when she gets older, how she will grow breasts, amongst others. She’s also timid sometimes around people who she thinks doesn’t know she was born a “boy”.

How am I doing?
I think I’m pretty doing well so far…I mean she tells me she loves me more than my wife! (To be fair, her older brother loves mom more!). I’m a fairly quiet person, but I’m learning to acknowledge and describe my emotions as they present themselves. Being vulnerable is not the easiest thing to do in any situation that requires you become absolutely selfless. As a proud dad who supports my trans kid 100 percent, I’m still learning. I understand modeling positivity, acceptance (not tolerance), and treating people equally is critical in how I want our kids to treat each other and everyone else.

If being outspoken on the issues that trans people face every day gives people an even greater opportunity to listen to issues that might not understand or be aware of, then that’s what I will do. I’m advocating for my daughter’s rights, and the rights of her transgender peers. I’m speaking out and standing proud.
