Ken Bone Reveals He Is a Marriage Equality Advocate – WATCH

On Monday night, presidential debate viral sensation Ken Bone revealed that he is an advocate of marriage equality.

Bone rose to celebrity status after he was one of the undecided voters called upon to ask a question of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the second presidential debate.

Bone’s question (about energy policy), his demeanor (affable as all get out), his wardrobe (a jolly red half-zip cable knit sweater with a white button up and white tie), and his disposable camera (#nostalgia), made him an instant Twitter sweetheart. He was even declared by many to be the true winner of the debate.

Anderson Cooper, who co-moderated Sunday’s debate, had Bone on his show AC 360 to talk about his meteoric rise to stardom, his famous outfit, and whether the debate helped him suss out who he will vote for.

Bone told Cooper that he had planned to wear a different outfit but it ripped as he was leaving for the debate. That led him to go with his ‘Plan B’ option, the now famous red sweater.

As for who he will vote for, Bone said he is more uncommitted than he was before the debate. Bone suggested that while Donald Trump might do more to benefit him financially, he worries Trump will appoint Supreme Court justices that would overturn the Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage.

Said Bone,

“Donald Trump, he might have my economic interests more in my mind, just from a personal level. He will help my coal-fired power industry probably more than Secretary Clinton and give me a lot of future for my wallet and my ability to take care of my family.

But on the other hand, if he’s allowed to appoint the next Supreme Court nominee, there’s a very good chance that we could lose some of the rights that we’ve fought for for the last eight years, rights that all Americans should share, like marriage equality. And I do not want see anyone’s rights taken away.

So that’s what makes it difficult for me. It’s–we’re looking at a personal interest versus community interest election.”

Bone reiterated his support for marriage equality in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

“I would really hate for anyone’s rights to be taken back,” Bone told the late night host. “We fought so hard to get marriage equality and to get rights expanded to more Americans and I couldn’t–it would be unconscionable for me to see those taken away by a Supreme Court justice appointed by Donald Trump.”

New Mockumentary from Christopher Guest, New Eps of ‘Real O’Neals’ And More TV This Week

Filmmaker Sharon Shattuck shares her real-life Transparent story in From This Day Forward, tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern on PBS’s POV. The documentary chronicles her father’s transition from male to female, and the way it evolved relationships with her and her mother.

It’s time for the second season of The Real O’Neals, premiering Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. The series, starring openly gay actor Noah Galvin and Martha Plimpton, is loosely inspired by executive producer Dan Savage’s own experience growing up gay in a Catholic family.

You could just drink a bottle of wine and hate-watch Roland Emmerich’s Stonewall, but it’s much more fun to leave the sloppy storytelling to professionals. This week’s episode of Drunk History gets a storyteller plastered and then reenacts their version of the Stonewall riots verbatim. Transparent stars Trace Lysette and Alexandra Grey make appearances on the episode, Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. Eastern on Comedy Central.

ABC’s Modern Family gets an extra dose of handsome with a guest appearance by Nathan Fillion, Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern.

The gang’s all here for a new Christopher Guest mockumentary, including Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Jennifer Coolidge, Fred Willard and more. Mascots which is, yup, exactly what you think it is, drops on Netflix Thursday.

Black, Bisexual, And Invisible: A Cry For Acceptance And An End To Racism In The LGBTQ Community

“I have been out as bisexual for three years,” blogger Travonte Harris writes in a new op-ed published by The Current. “A downside to being bisexual is the fact that no girl will date me because I’m openly bisexual.”

“As if it wasn’t enough,” he adds, “now I have to deal with racism from my own people.”

Harris says it all started shortly after he joined Grindr.

“Before I came out, I never had a problem with racism,” he says. “I could get black girls, white girls, some mixed girls. But in dealing with trying to go after my dream guy, I was met with opposition.”

He continues: “I saw a lot of posts on the dating apps like ‘Anyone but black,’ ‘No blacks allowed,’ and I had to stop myself and think, ‘Am I in the 60s or is this reality?’ … I questioned, ‘Am I unattractive? Am I not good enough for them?’”

He quickly learned that, no, he wasn’t living in the ’60s, this was reality, and that many guys didn’t want to date him simply because of the color of his skin.

Harris says he quickly grew frustrated by this, and eventually took to social media to voice his outrage.

“I started saying really offensive stuff on Facebook,” he says. “I was starting to hate the LGBT community and hate myself for being a part of it. I found myself being just as closed-minded as the people I hated.”

He continues: “But after much backlash from friends and family, I realized that hating them would solve nothing.”

Harris says he’s now focused on opening people’s minds to the racism that exists within the LGBTQ community.

“Recently I went into a gay club and there were a lot of people—mostly couples,” he writes. “The few single people who were there were out of my league. But I walked up to a guy, and his friend, a girl who said, ‘What do you want?’ in the rudest voice possible, like she was superior to me.”

“All I wanted was a dance,” he says.

“I have gay friends who are black and they only date black people because it has been an issue trying to date a white guy,” he continues. “I hope that this article helps people become more aware of their racism.”

He conludes: “This should not be a world where people kill themselves because they are lonely or because their own LGBT social group will not accept them. I hope that reading this article causes readers to consider how their actions might affect other people, whether intentional or not.”

Chants of “lock her up” have become commonplace at Trump rallies and were even present at the Republican National convention in Cleveland.

During the second presidential debate on Sunday, Trump vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton over her emails if he wins the election.

Speaking in North Carolina today, Trump said, “If I win, we’re gonna appoint a special prosecutor. Because we cannot allow this to happen in our country. We can’t. We’re like a third world nation.”

Ironically, it was Trump’s call to prosecute Clinton that led many, both Republicans and Democrats, to compare Trump’s actions to that of a so-called ‘third world’ dictator.

This isn’t the first time Trump has tried to ape the arguments of his harshest critics in attacks against Clinton. During the first presidential debate, Trump attempted to convince viewers that he has the better temperament of the two candidates. That assertion drew audible gasps from the assembled crowd at Hofstra University.
