Bisexual And Heteroflexible Dads Talk About Kink After Kids

Bisexual And Heteroflexible Dads Talk About Kink After Kids

a-stock-image-of-a-man-using-s-and-m-equipmentChildren. They are one of life’s greatest joys. They are also one of life’s greatest pains… particularly when it comes to disrupting their parents’ sex lives… and especially when their parents are into kink.

A group of parents recently sat down down with Vice to talk about navigating the waters of parenthood and kinky sex.

“I am kinky by nature,” 35-year-old Chris from New Jersey says. “Just because you have kids doesn’t mean kink is over. You may have to slow down for a minute; you may have to put in on the side, but you’re not going to forget it.”

Chris and his wife have two children, one three and one 19-months.

“I’m bisexual, but I haven’t actually had sex with another man,” he says. “I’d love to do it. I am a sexual bottom and the best term I use to describe my sexuality is ‘sensation slut.’”

Chris says he likes being “on the receiving end of things” and feeling out of control, hence his interest in bottoming for another man.

“I like pushing myself to the limits of the sensations I receive, good or bad,” he says.

He and his wife are very much into kink and have a locker in their bathroom filled with sex toys–hoods, gags, latex gloves, plugs, whips, electric shockers, you name it. For now, they keep their kinky behavior a closely-guarded secret, but Chris expects that one day he’ll have to address it with his kids.

“They’re three and one and a half,” he says. “In another ten years, I’m going to have to have a conversation with them that’s a little more serious. I hope to be as honest as I can without providing specific details.”

James from Wisconsin is 31 and in a similar boat. He and his wife have a two-year-old and a seven-month-old. He identifies and straight, “but truthfully I’m heteroflexible.”

“I like people who are feminine with little regard to what genitals they have,” he explains. “I’m a dominant male, with some sadistic undertones, but I spend 99 percent of my time as just a vanilla dad and husband.”

“Our son is of an age where he finds things even if we try desperately to hide them,” he says. “My spouse and I have always said we will be in a sex-positive home, even as our kids learn what a vibrator is and that those Velcro straps on our bed are for momma.”

He continues: “We want our children to be comfortable in their skin and to know they are beautiful and not to be hidden in some weird standard placed by Puritans hundreds of years ago who would stone us for enjoying sex if they had their way.”

“Kink isn’t something to be ashamed of,” he says, “and your kids will respect honesty more than a person who is afraid of themselves and their needs.”

Donald Trump Is Learning The Hard Way Catholic Bishops Have Lost Their Political Clout

Donald Trump Is Learning The Hard Way Catholic Bishops Have Lost Their Political Clout

Timothy Dolan

It takes a special talent to get a roomful of rich Catholics to boo a Republican candidate, but Donald Trump has that gift. Trump’s disastrous appearance at the Al Smith Dinner, a forced march for politicians disguised as a fundraiser for Catholic Charities, was just one more sign of the candidate’s uncanny ability to alienate people inclined to support him.

But while most of the focus was on Trump’s inability to tell a joke without it come across as nuclear-tipped, the more interesting story is how low-profile the Catholic bishops have been in this presidential campaign. Cardinal Timothy Dolan was the ringmaster for the Al Smith dinner, seated between Trump and Hillary Clinton. But Dolan’s appearance was one of the few that the Catholic bishops have put in during the campaign.

Compare that to past elections. In 2004, Catholic bishops all but took to the stump for George W. Bush. Dolan gave a convocation at the Republican convention in 2012, and, almost as an afterthought, showed up at the Democratic convention  just to prove his bipartisanship. (No one was fooled.)

This time around, the bishops have been a lot less political. Part of it has to do with Trump himself. After all, he called the pope “disgraceful” when Francis said that Trump’s wall with Mexico was “not Christian.” Even Archbishop Charles Chaput, who is so far to the right that he thinks the pope is insufficiently Catholic, has branded Trump ““a vulgar, boorish lout and disrespecter of women with a serious impulse control problem.” (He’s no fan of Clinton either, calling her a “scheming, robotic liar.”)

But the real motivation for the bishop’s silence may be to stay on the right side of the Vatican. Pope Francis made comments earlier this month that were studiously non-partisan:  “The people are sovereign. I will only say: Study the proposals well, pray and choose in conscience.” No comments about abortion or marriage equality or any other hot button issues.

Moreover, the pope’s willingness to go after Trump about the wall sent a clear signal.  Francis is emphasizing social justice issues, like immigration and poverty, which have taken a back burner to the culture war issues that the bishops have been pushing for decades. He’s also sent a clear message about how he views political involvement with his promotions: as archbishop of Philadelphia, Chaput holds a position that is traditionally elevated to cardinal, but Francis keeps passing him over.

Of course, Catholic voters are different from the bishops. Like pretty much every other voting bloc, Trump promises to lose the Catholic vote in record numbers.  If that turns out to be the case on Election Day, even the bishops may have to pay attention.

Virginia Paper Endorses NC Gov. Pat McCrory, Because HB2 Has Sent State So Many Jobs

Virginia Paper Endorses NC Gov. Pat McCrory, Because HB2 Has Sent State So Many Jobs

Pat McCrory

The Roanoke Times of Virginia trolled North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory big time on Friday in an editorial board letter discussing which candidate in this year’s election would do the most to help the local economy if they were elected or reelected.

Their answer? North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, because his signing of anti-LGBT HB2 sent companies fleeing his state, many of which landed in Virginia.

They write:

We can point to specific and multiple ways he has helped the economy — our economy. North Carolina panicked and made a spectacle of itself by passing HB2, its so-called “bathroom bill.” In response, various companies and even sports leagues pulled events from the state. Three of those have wound up in Salem — the NCAA Division III men’s and women’s soccer championships, as well as the Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association football championship. That’s money in the bank for us.

They also pointed out that McCrory gave Virginia a competitive advantage in economic development:

When the University Economic Development Association recently held its national conference in Roanoke, the keynote speaker highlighted a North Carolina program to encourage partnerships between colleges and companies, as a way help recruit technology companies interested in research and development. The speaker hailed it as a model for other states to follow as they try to build a “knowledge economy.” Then the speaker noted that McCrory had cancelled it. The pro-business audience groaned.

On Monday, a data company picked Richmond as the site for a new office, with 730 jobs. Industry officials said it beat out Charlotte specifically because of HB2.

For that reason, the Times editorial board says, their local economy would be best served by reelecting McCrory.

HRC Revokes Endorsement of Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, Endorses Tammy Duckworth

HRC Revokes Endorsement of Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, Endorses Tammy Duckworth

duckworth_kirk

The Human Rights Campaign announced today it has voted to revoke its long-criticized endorsement of Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) and endorse his opponent, Democrat Tammy Duckworth, following Kirk’s racist attack on Duckworth’s heritage. Duckworth’s mother is Thai and her father an American veteran descended from relatives who fought during the Revolutionary War.

Kirk’s remarks came during a debate, after Duckworth spoke about her background.

Said Duckworth, a veteran who lost both legs in the Iraq war, in the exchange:

“My family has served this nation in uniform going back to the revolution. I am a daughter of the American Revolution. I’ve bled for this nation. But I still want to be there in the Senate when the drums of war sound because people are quick to sound the drums of war and I want to be there to say this is what it costs and this is what you’re asking us to do.”

Kirk’s response:

“I forgot your parents came all the way from Thailand to serve George Washington.”

Chad GriffinToday, HRC President Chad Griffin wrote an open letter explaining the organization’s move:

After careful consideration, HRC’s Public Policy Committee of the Board of Directors has taken the unprecedented step — a first in our 36-year history — of revoking an endorsement. We are a bipartisan organization and our staff and board make endorsement decisions based on a proven record of LGBTQ equality and a candidate’s ability to drive legislative change. We will not continue to make progress and pass the Equality Act without Republican support. It’s vitally important that we continue to build bipartisan coalitions so that we may continue to move equality forward. We endorsed the sitting Senator, Mark Kirk, because he has been a strong supporter of our cause time and again, scoring a 100 percent on HRC’s most recent Congressional Scorecard. But events this week have gone beyond the pale for our standards of leadership.

Leadership is about more than the legislation one sponsors and the votes one casts. On Thursday night, Senator Kirk’s comments about his opponent’s heritage were deeply offensive and racist. His attempt to use Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth’s race as a means to undermine her family’s American heritage and patriotism is beyond reprehensible. Yesterday, Senator Kirk tweeted an apology that failed to adequately address the real harm and magnitude of his words. So today, following a vote by our board’s committee, the Human Rights Campaign withdrew our support of Senator Kirk.

Attacking someone because of her race and ethnicity is inexcusable for anyone, but especially for a sitting U.S. Senator. The diversity of our movement is our greatest strength, and Senator Kirk’s remarks were an affront to our most fundamental values. We have therefore voted to endorse Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, who has been a strong LGBTQ ally in the House of Representatives, and HRC will contribute the maximum amount to her campaign. We look forward to working with her in the Senate to secure full federal equality for all LGBTQ Americans.

With only ten days until the election, HRC is focused on executing the most robust get-out-the-vote effort in our history, reaching beyond our own members and supporters to pro-equality voters who have demonstrated an openness to creating a more equal and fair society. This year our community has a clear choice: between Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine — the most robust pro-LGBTQ ticket in American history — and Donald Trump and Mike Pence — who threaten to undermine all of the progress we’ve made in the last eight years. The choice is equally clear in races at every level of government.

This year, we are going to demonstrate together that opposing LGBTQ equality is a political liability. And together, we will continue to fight for equality and deliver real, meaningful change for our country and community.

HRC has been criticized for months over its endorsement of Kirk.

Wrote SiriusXM radio host Michelangelo Signorile in  March:

Kirk has only earned a score of 78 percent out of 100 percent from HRC, while his opponent, Democratic House member Tammy Duckworth, has a score of 100 — in addition to a real shot at taking the seat and handing Democrats the Senate. David Nir, political director at Daily Kos, called the endorsement as “appalling as it is embarrassing,” and “pathetic and stupid.” Mark Joseph Stern at Slate acknowledged the “long game” HRC may be playing in backing GOPers who vote pro-gay, but nonetheless drew the line at allowing the terribly anti-gay GOP leadership to retain the Senate this year, observing that HRC “does not seem to grasp…simple reality.”

At The New Republic, Eric Sasson rightly pointed to HRC’s “serious diversity problem” per an internal report that leaked, and to the optics of backing a white male Republican with a meager score over a woman of color and a combat veteran who lost both of her legs in the Iraq war — and who has a perfect score. Chris Geidner at Buzzfeed had obtained the internal report last year, which called HRC “exclusionary,” “sexist,” and “homogenous.” This endorsement certainly lent more credence to that.

Earlier that month Kirk had also pledged to support Donald Trump.

In June he flipped and said he “cannot and will not support” Trump, adding, “”Given my military experience, Donald Trump does not have the temperament to command our military or our nuclear arsenal.”
