Joe Wasn’t Allowed To Talk About Sexy Stuff In The Jonas Brothers, So He’s Making Up For Lost Time

In his younger days as one-third of The Jonas Brothers, the DNCE frontman was barred from talking about sex and romance, for obvious reasons.

“Hollywood Records were under Disney,” he tells NOTION, “and obviously just the age we were, we had to be careful with the certain things we wrote and said.”

We couldn’t be too sexual or romantic in certain ways. And that’s tough because at the same time you’re growing up and you want to write about these experiences you’re having as a young adult.”

Now being older, there’s new experiences that I get to have, or just as an adult, like touring and travelling… you go out for a few drinks after the show.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Jonas talks about his reinvention as your garden-variety, everyday, totally smoldering pop star, and his theoretically raunchy video for their new song, “Body Moves.”

The below video takes a behind-the-scenes glance at his “School Spirit” shoot for the mag with photographer Jack Bridgland, where Jonas strikes some “moody, misunderstood, handsome rebel loner” poses in a series of sleeveless denim jackets and slinky sportswear.

Santa Barbara DA Files Hate Crime Charges Following Assault On Gay Man

Santa Barbara DA Files Hate Crime Charges Following Assault On Gay Man

richard-schiwietz

Police in Santa Barbara, California have filed hate crime charges against a known felon who verbally and physically attacked a 64-year-old gay man.

It is alleged that John Savala (54) approached Richard Schiwietz and a friend on State Street and yelled “Faggot. Your mother’s a whore.” When asked to stop, Savala replied “You say one more word, and I’m going to coldcock you.” When Schiwietz challenged Savala to “Try it,” he was punched on the side of his head.

— Pacific Pride (@PacificPride) October 12, 2016

Schiwietz said that although Santa Barbara is “a very comfortable place to live,” he has encountered homophobia on a number of occasions but has chosen “not to be angry about it and just realize it is other people’s ignorance.”

Colette Schabram, the executive director of Pacific Pride Foundation in Santa Barbara, told KEYT.com:

“Our community is concerned right now. Richard has been living in Santa Barbara for nearly 15 years and is friends with members of our board of directors. Knowing this can happen to LBGTQ+ people any time, anywhere is a reality for many of us. But when it happens in your hometown, with others looking on, that reality is painful. We at Pacific Pride Foundation work hard every day for the equal rights and treatment of our LGBTQ+ neighbors. And we are calling on our community to step in and support one another when you see or hear violence on our streets.”

According to the Santa Barbara Independent, no hate crimes have been prosecuted in the city since 2011. On that occasion, Ryan Zietlow-Brown was sentenced to 22 years in prison after he stabbed a black man multiple times in the forehead with scissors.

Following an investigation, District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced plans to charge Savala with a felony hate crime.

Started in 2010 by high school student Brittany McMillan, Spirit Day now draws the participation of celebrities, corporations, media outlets, sports leagues, schools, faith institutions, national landmarks, and individuals around the world, who join together in a united stand against bullying.

Buzfeed CEO Tweets About Ivanka Trump’s Interest In “Mulatto C*cks” — What In The Huh?

Buzfeed CEO Tweets About Ivanka Trump’s Interest In “Mulatto C*cks” — What In The Huh?

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-10-56-03-am

Can we all just agree that the whole Trump family is pretty darn gross?

After that tape came out of Trump making disgusting comments about sexual assault, Ivanka Trump issued a statement that “That’s not language consistent with any conversation I’ve ever had with him, certainly, or any conversation I’ve overheard, so it was a bit jarring for me to hear.”

Yeah, sure, Ivanka. Your dad’s a real paragon of virtue.

Her statement didn’t quite ring true with Buzzfeed founder and CEO Jonah Peretti, who tweeted that he was in her presence when she made some pretty unpleasant statements of her own:

Surprised Ivanka would be shocked by lewd language. I met her once & she casually said: “I’ve never seen a mulatto cock, but I’d like to!” t.co/WrgCoM0MGK

— Jonah Peretti (@peretti) October 19, 2016

Good grief. Not to spoil the suspense for Ivanka, but “mulatto cock” looks just like any other person’s: some are big, some are small, they come in all different shapes and sizes and colors, and they are all pretty fun. Also, the people attached to them are probably pretty unlikely to want to show them to you if that’s how you refer to them, no matter how rich you claim to be.

After hearing something like that, it’s hard to forget, and so Peretti repeated the story to friends over the years. Now, he’s sharing it with us — lucky us! — because it’s just another example of how you can’t trust anything that comes out of that family.

Trump Promises to ‘Totally Accept’ the Election Results–If He Wins: WATCH

Trump Promises to ‘Totally Accept’ the Election Results–If He Wins: WATCH

trump

Donald Trump on Thursday said he would “totally accept” the results of the 2016 presidential election–but only if he wins.

Trump told a crowd of supporters, “I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election–if I win.”

Trump: I’ll “accept the results of this great and historic presidential election if I win.” t.co/63MIBIUMp0 t.co/Qaak5Vvhmc

— ABC News (@ABC) October 20, 2016

Trump’s remarks came on the heels of his comments in Wednesday night’s debate in which he refused to say whether he would accept the outcome of the presidential election as legitimate.

Said Trump to moderator Chris Wallace, “I will look at it at the time…I will keep you in suspense.”

As NBC’s Hallie Jackson reports, Trump has a history of backing off claims that a contest is rigged if (and seemingly only if) he wins that contest:

At a May 2016 rally in Charleston, WV, shortly after he secured enough delegates to become the presumptive Republican nominee, Trump mused on his past claims of a “rigged system” within the GOP primary.

“Now I don’t say it anymore because I won,” Trump said. “Ok. It’s true. You know now I don’t care. I don’t care.”

Trump also bizarrely claimed on Thursday that Clinton was able to see Wallace’s questions prior to the debate, yet has offered not evidence to support this claim.

Why didn’t Hillary Clinton announce that she was inappropriately given the debate questions – she secretly used them! Crooked Hillary.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 20, 2016

CNBC reports:

During that third and final presidential debate, moderator Chris Wallace made clear that he had not shared his questions ahead of time.

“For the record, I decided the topics and the questions in each topic. None of those questions has been shared with a commission or the two candidates,” the Fox News anchor said, according to a transcript of the event.

Clinton’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Municipal Equality Index 2016: All-Star Cities

Municipal Equality Index 2016: All-Star Cities

At a time when many states have failed to extend LGBTQ-inclusive laws and policies, cities are stepping up to ensure that all citizens are treated equally. HRC Foundation’s Municipal Equality Index, released this week in partnership with Equality Federation, shows that around the country cities are fueling momentum for LGBTQ equality — and often are doing so in states that still don’t have LGBTQ-inclusive non-discrimination laws at the state level.

Across the country, 37 cities earned at least 85 points on the 2016 MEI despite hailing from a state without LGBTQ-inclusive statewide non-discrimination laws. These cities, dubbed “All-Star Cities,” set a standard of LGBTQ inclusiveness with exemplary, best-practice policies such as local non-discrimination laws, providing transgender-inclusive health benefits for city employees, and offering LGBTQ-inclusive city services. Due to the state-level restrictions, it would be impossible for these cities to earn a 100 rating without the help of bonus points.

These 37 cities are located in 13 states. With 8, Florida has the most number of All-Star Cities. What’s more, 3 of those cities – Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Wilton Manors – earned 100 ratings.

The entire list of All-Star Cities:

  1. Phoenix, Arizona
  2. Tempe, Arizona
  3. Tucson, Arizona
  4. Gainesville, Florida
  5. Miami Shores, Florida
  6. Oakland Park, Florida
  7. Orlando, Florida
  8. St. Petersburg, Florida
  9. Tallahassee, Florida
  10. Tampa, Florida
  11. Wilton Manors, Florida
  12. Atlanta, Georgia
  13. Bloomington, Indiana
  14. Indianapolis, Indiana
  15. New Orleans, Louisiana
  16. Louisville, Kentucky
  17. Ann Arbor, Michigan
  18. Detroit, Michigan
  19. East Lansing, Michigan
  20. Ferndale, Michigan
  21. Columbia, Missouri
  22. Kansas City, Missouri
  23. St. Louis, Missouri
  24. Missoula, Montana

Faith organizations, leaders, and have been getting into the spirit of Spirit Day 2016! Youth ministries, camps, congregations, campus ministries, advocacy organizations, and whole denominations have gone purple today. These organizations are standing in solidary with LGBTQ youth and against bullying.

New Ways Ministry, an LGBTQ Catholic organization, has been reaching out to Catholic schools, and created Catholic school specific banners for students to share on social media. This display of solidarity in religious based schools is especially important for LGBTQ students and/or faculty who may feel alienated by some religious teachings.

Other groups have turned their social media purple, and have asked their congregations to go purple too!
