Seth Meyers last night moderated his own hilarious presidential debate – using actual clips from Sunday night’s debate and alternate questions.

In Meyers’ version, Trump fields questions like:

“Have you picked out who your next wife will be?”

“Do you really think there’s a chance you’ll actually be elected president?”

“Where did your sons learn to hunt?”

“When was there a time when you were really jealous?”

“How is your penis?

While Secretary Clinton is asked:

“Why are you such a huge fan of cottage cheese?”

“Who gets to hear you give a speech?”

“What is the name of your fantasy football team?”

“What do you think the Trump boys did when they found their stockings on Christmas morning?”

Trump Zoltar

A talking Trump Zoltar machine (think the movie Big) appeared on a street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn before being whisked away to other locations, including Trump Tower, and it is spewing ugly prophecies, according to Gothamist.

“Look into my crystal ball and see America’s future,” the ‘All Seeing Trump’ declares. “I see a huge investment into a modern, high speed rail system. Very advanced, very fast. And we’re going to use it to deport 11 million illegal Mexicans. And by the way, I love the Mexican people. I love their spirit! I love their spirit. And I love packing them onto trains like cattle. And I build the best deportation trains, believe me. My trains are so much better…”

[Reporter Camille] Dodero says the Trump machine was packed into a van and driven away shortly after the above video was taken. Where will Trump Zoltar appear next?

The stunt is apparently connected to a website called All-Seeing Trump.

Check out some of the videos of the thing:

Star Trek Actor George Takei Now Says Gay Sulu Isn’t Gay Enough

Star Trek Actor George Takei Now Says Gay Sulu Isn’t Gay Enough

george takei

George Takei says the reveal in Star Trek Beyond that Mr Sulu is gay was “tentative” and didn’t go far enough.

Takei – the original Sulu and a LGBT rights advocate – told Digital Spy:

“They talked about Sulu becoming gay, but it was such a tentative thing. Shakespeare said it: ‘Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’

“Sulu comes back, picks up the little girl and hugs her, and then puts his arm around a guy and they walk off…not even a kiss. Just hugging the baby and arm around the guy… and it’s over.”

He added that Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry would have been “really creative” had he been able to create a gay character for the show.

“He would’ve created a gay character who has his own history in this kind of society and explored what kind of issues he would have to deal with, and how he would’ve expressed himself, and how society would’ve dealt with him. All those potentials are there – and yet…”

In July, Takei said he was delighted that there is now a gay character in the series. However, he added that the development  is “a twisting of Gene’s creation, to which he put in so much thought. I think it’s really unfortunate.” He later said his comments were taken out of context, insisting that while he’s thrilled with the franchise’s idea of inclusiveness, he would have preferred it if a new character were created instead, one “whose story could be fleshed out from scratch, rather than reinvented.”

Responding to Takei’s original comments, Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the series and co-wrote Beyond, said:

“I have huge love and respect for George Takei, his heart, courage and humour are an inspiration. However, with regards to his thoughts on our Sulu, I must respectfully disagree with him.

“He’s right, it is unfortunate, it’s unfortunate that the screen version of the most inclusive, tolerant universe in science fiction hasn’t featured an LGBT character until now. We could have introduced a new gay character, but he or she would have been primarily defined by their sexuality, seen as the ‘gay character’, rather than simply for who they are, and isn’t that tokenism?”

In July, it was revealed that a kiss between Sulu and his husband in Beyond was cut.

Musician Rayvon Owen’s #NationalComingOutDay #HRCTwitterTakeover

Musician Rayvon Owen’s #NationalComingOutDay #HRCTwitterTakeover

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, musician Rayvon Owen took over @HRC‘s Twitter account in honor of National Coming Out Day to discuss his brave decision to come out as gay earlier this year. The American Idol finalist came out on Valentine’s Day in a music video for his song “Can’t Fight It,” which was released on Billboard.

“I was given an incredible platform with American Idol and I felt I had a responsibility to do something positive with it, especially if there was a chance that it would help others,” Owen said in an exclusive interview with HRC. “When it came time to storyboard my new music video, the director, not knowing I was gay, presented the idea of a female love interest. At that moment, I knew in my heart that it needed to be a man. Authenticity suddenly became more important to me than hiding who I am.”

Coming out – whether it is as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or allied – matters. When people know someone who is LGBTQ, they are far more likely to support equality under the law. Beyond that, our stories can be powerful to each other.

Here’s what Rayvon had to say in his #NationalComingOutDay #HRCTwitterTakeover:

Statement from HRC and Equality NC In Response to Gubernatorial Debate

Statement from HRC and Equality NC In Response to Gubernatorial Debate

Following tonight’s North Carolina gubernatorial debate moderated by NBC’s Chuck Todd, HRC President Chad Griffin and Equality North Carolina Executive Director Chris Sgro released the following statements:

“Tonight, we unfortunately heard more of the same from Governor McCrory: broken promises, sorry excuses and the same old hate-filled policies,” said Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin. “As Governor, Pat McCrory signed HB2 into law which has hurt North Carolinians and the economy. For voters the choice couldn’t be clearer. As Governor, Roy Cooper will stand up for fairness, equality and promote policies that bring jobs to North Carolina.”

“Tonight North Carolina saw two visions for North Carolina,” said Equality NC Executive Director Chris Sgro. “Pat McCrory tonight continued to blame others for the millions of dollars in economic loss we are suffering after he alone signed the most anti-LGBT bill in the entire nation. Roy Cooper offered a positive vision for our future and a commitment to common sense, fairness, and creating good paying jobs. Roy Cooper stands with all of us, which is exactly why he will be our next governor.”

HRC and Equality North Carolina have endorsed pro-equality candidates up and down the ticket this year in North Carolina, including Roy Cooper for Governor and candidates for the General Assembly.

Paid for by Human Rights Campaign PAC and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

Jewish Leaders Call for LGBTQ Acceptance Before Day of Atonement

Jewish Leaders Call for LGBTQ Acceptance Before Day of Atonement

Post submitted by Michael Toumayan with contributions from Religion and Faith Program Intern Leah Weinstein

Tradition is a key religio-cultural element in the Jewish faith that has bound together families and communities for centuries. This couldn’t be any more true than on Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, one of the holiest days of the year in Judaism.

In the U.S., where a majority of Jewish Americans identify with the more LGBTQ inclusive Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist movements, leaders have often adapted Jewish tradition to embrace and include new possibilities, including making room for LGBTQ people in Jewish life. The more traditional Orthodox movement has, by and large, struggled with LGBTQ acceptance, both in the U.S. and in Israel.

But this year, in a deeply moving video, seven leading Israeli Orthodox scholars are calling for acceptance of LGBTQ people and an end to harmful anti-LGBTQ rhetoric in the religious community. The video comes just days before Yom Kippur, when it is traditional to ask for forgiveness from those one may have hurt.

The video opens with a powerful passage from the Talmud, a collection of writings that constitute the Jewish civil and religious law:

“Yom Kippur atones for transgressions between a person and God, but for a transgression against one’s neighbor, Yom Kippur cannot atone, until he appeases his neighbor.”

While Jews from around the world fast and attend services at synagogue, Yom Kippur is an opportunity for all Jews, no matter Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist or Orthodox to reflect, to ask for forgiveness and to make a change.

We hope that this opportunity will open the doors of all synagogues, as well as the hearts and minds of all Jewish communities and people, to LGBTQ people. Yom Kippur can offer an opportunity for more holistic LGBTQ inclusion in the Jewish New Year and enrich Jewish life, family and tradition for years to come.

Earlier this year, HRC Foundation released Coming Home to Judaism and to Self, a guide that challenges individuals to engage more deeply with their faith. Coming Home to Judaism, released in the spring, offers strategies for the LGBTQ faithful seeking enriching and meaningful lives in the Jewish faith.
