Pedro Almodóvar Says His ‘Brokeback Mountain’ Would Have Had “A Lot More Gay Sex”

We were this close to getting a Brokeback Mountain directed by the iconic Pedro Almodóvar, and had it happened it would have included way more gay sex.

While promoting his new flick Julieta, the iconic Spanish director told The Empire Film Podcast that he was originally set to direct the 2005 film. Not only that, had he taken the job, it would have differed significantly from Ang Lee‘s vision.

“More sex, more sex,” he said.

“It’s not gratuitous,” he added. “The Annie Proulx story is about a physical relation, an animal relation. So sex is necessary because it is the body of the story. So I always have the image that these two guys start making love to each other like the animals that they were taking care of. I mean, against the cold in the mountains, yes, a way to survive in the mountains.”

Almodóvar said the romantic relationship that developed between the two characters is an accident that develops much to their surprise.

He added that he loved Ang Lee’s movie and the performances turned in by Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger, and that he isn’t sure he could have gotten his version of the movie made in the U.S. anyway.

“It seems to me I could do that in Europe, but not in the United States,” he concluded.

These Guys Refuse To Let HIV Stigma Into Their Lives

These Guys Refuse To Let HIV Stigma Into Their Lives

living-with-hiv

A new PSA aims to tackle the stigma that still surrounds HIV/AIDS. The video was produced by the Gay Men’s Health Charity, a British nonprofit, and highlights guys who, despite their statuses, are living their lives to the fullest.

It opens with a bunch of cute men hugging and mugging, and then some introductions. They come from all walks of life, from porn star to athletes, and “there’s no barrier to life with HIV,” they say.

“You can be anything,” they proclaim. “You can do anyone.”

“There’s no shame,” the men say, some of whom are in long-term relationships. Even the actor in the porn industry is comfortable talking about his experiences, working with performers protected by PrEP.

“I don’t let HIV stigma into my life at all,” says another speaker, and then they all declare “I’m living.”

Imagine if the LGBTs coping the the epidemic 20 years ago could have seen a video like this in the future! For over a decade, they would have been seeing people cut down in their prime by illness, by indifference, and stigma. Who could have foreseen that there would come a time when HIV was something you live with, rather than fear?

The Sex Dried Up After Just Eight Months. And He’s So, So Unhappy About It.

The Sex Dried Up After Just Eight Months. And He’s So, So Unhappy About It.

A homosexual couple having difficulties in relationship

A cry for help can take many forms. In the case of one extraordinarily distraught young man, it’s manifested as a desperate letter to The Gay UK.

The problem? After dating for just eight months, the sex between he and his partner has almost completely dried up. As in: “It’s not you, it’s zzzz…”

Related: Gay Guys Are Having More Open Relationships Than Ever

“At first the sex was phenomenal,” he writes, “and on a regular basis nearly every time we were together even 2 to 3 times a night. However, over the last 3/4 months it has rapidly decreased to nearly nothing.”

Apparently, the unlovebirds have only had sex “like maybe 4-6 times” since May, which “has been rubbish.”

An emergency weekend getaway just led to suspect excuses like “I’m too tired” and “I’m bloated,” which is apparently an excuse.

He’s upset. He likes having sex, but his partner is the withholding sort, at least with him. So what’s a desperate young man to do?

Related: These Guys All Caught Their Boyfriends Cheating. Now What?

A crack team of three different advice columnists tackles the problem head on.

The first one — a certain Jordan Lohan — empathizes because he’s “personally experienced this situation”:

He’s sending out mixed messages and being incredibly controlling by being the one that decides what kind of intimacy you receive and when. Ask him, what does he want from you? Because right now he’s not offering enough to make you happy, feel good about yourself, and feel secure in your relationship, and you should make sure that he knows that in black and white.

Which is not the same as saying, “Break up with him.”

Then someone named Daniel Browne gets involved and offers up his two shiny cents.

“Over time that honeymoon period fizzles out a bit,” he writes to the man who has no sex life after eight months in a relationship.

Whatever the reasons are for your partner’s reduced interest in having sex, it is important to raise the issue and try to discuss it with him. By keeping it bottled up and not having an open conversation about your current situation, you risk becoming resentful and that may turn the issue into something bigger. It’s not often an easy subject to talk to your partner about, but communication is key to resolving things.

Which is not the same as saying,”Break up with him.”

“Whilst sex is an important part of any relationship,” says Paul Szabo, “it is not the most important thing.

Try asking him about what he would like to do in the bedroom – he may be gagging to roll around smothered in peanut butter, but is too embarrassed to ask / talk to you about. Have a chat about your fantasies and start to introduce them….

If all else fails, you need to have a frank chat with him and say that whilst you appreciate it is not everything, sex is important to you and you would like to share such an intimate and personal thing with him. If you don’t want to blurt it out randomly in the advert break of Coronation Street, then agree on a time with him to have a discussion. Don’t frame it as ‘this is your problem and your fault’ – more as ‘you are really important to me and we need to be honest with each other, because I want this relationship to work.’”

Which is not the same thing as saying, “Break up with him and hopefully remain friends while seeking out all the people who actually want to have sex with you.”

Why You Shouldn’t Create a Fake Profile on a Gay Hookup App to Get Back at Your Ex

Why You Shouldn’t Create a Fake Profile on a Gay Hookup App to Get Back at Your Ex

Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 4.30.58 PM

If your’e considering creating a fake account on Grindr, Manhunt or another gay hookup app to get back at your ex, you may want to think twice.

NYU law professor Art Leonard reports that several states have laws making online impersonation a crime, and a Texas appeals court recently upheld the constitutionality of the state’s statute, which makes the offense a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Michael Dwain Bradshaw was arrested and charged with online impersonation for “intentionally or knowingly using Joel Martin’s name or persona to post or send one or more messages on or though manhunt.net, an Internet website, without obtaining Martin’s consent, and with the intent to harm Martin.”

Bradshaw appealed the charge, saying the statute violates his rights to free speech and equal protection, in addition to burdening interstate commerce. But Texas’ 4th District Court of Appeals disagreed, Leonard reports:

Looking to the legislative history of the statute, Justice Fillmore found Texas House committee hearings generating a report that the purpose of the statute was “to ‘deter and punish’ individuals who assumed the identity of another and sent false, harassing, or threatening electronic messages to the victim or a third party who was unaware of the perpetrator’s true identity. The committee noted that online harassment had resulted in suicide, threats of physical or mental abuse, and more, but ‘current Texas law does not provide a means of prosecuting some of the most egregious of these acts.  There is nothing in the legislative history,” wrote Fillmore, “that would suggest the legislature was targeting or expressing its disagreement with any particular topic or viewpoint by enacting section 33.07(a).”  And the court concluded that addressing this problem did involve a significant governmental interest of “protecting citizens from crime, fraud, defamation or threats from online impersonation.” ….

Which leads the reader to speculate about the facts of this case. Did Bradshaw use Martin’s picture or name to cruise on Manhunt.net, to lure people into compromising situations, or to engage in conduct that would damage Martin’s reputation or subject him to liability or prosecution if attributed to him?  If this case goes to trial and produces written opinions or attracts media attention, perhaps we will find out.  If, as is true in the overwhelming majority of criminal prosecutions, Bradshaw accepts a plea bargain offered by the prosecution, we may never find out.

Read the full opinion here.

According to Dallas County court records obtained by Towleroad, the Manhunt account was one of about 10 Bradshaw created on various sites using Martin’s name, cell phone number and email address. Although it’s unclear why Bradshaw created the accounts, the indictment states that he is a retired police officer in the city of Mesquite, near Dallas, while Martin is a current police officer there.

“The victim began to receive calls during various times of day and night,” the indictment states. “The victim reported these to be harassing and embarrassing to both him and his spouse.”

Will Troy Aikman Beat Up New Co-Worker Skip Bayless for Calling Him Gay? (In 2011, He Said He Might)

Will Troy Aikman Beat Up New Co-Worker Skip Bayless for Calling Him Gay? (In 2011, He Said He Might)

troy aikman

Former Dallas Cowboys QB and current Fox Sports lead NFL analyst Troy Aikman (above) is none too pleased that Fox has given sports commentator Skip Bayless (below) his own show, no doubt because Bayless has repeatedly insisted that Aikman is gay.

2009 - Skip BaylessBayless first made the claims about Aikman in a 1996 book he wrote called Hell-Bent: The Crazy Truth About the ‘Win or Else’ Dallas Cowboys.

Aikman has denied that he is gay and has reportedly been incensed by the suggestion since the 1990s.

Now that the two will be working at the same network, Aikman has blasted Fox for hiring Bayless.

Sports Illustrated reports:

“To say I’m disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement,” Aikman said. “Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless.”

Back in 2011, Aikman fumed about Bayless in a radio interview, jabbing Bayless by saying, “I’m not so sure Skip’s not gay.” He added, “I’ve not physically seen Skip Bayless since that time. That was in ’95. And I still kind of wonder what I might do to him when I do see him.”

Asked whether he would get physical with Bayless, Aikman responded only, “Well, I mean, I don’t know. I don’t know.”

FLASHBACK – Troy Aikman Still So Mad Skip Bayless Called Him Gay 15 Years Ago He Might Beat Him Up if He Sees Him: AUDIO

Bayless has stood by his statements that he believes Aikman is gay.

In 2015, Aikman touched on that radio interview he gave about Bayless and explained why he found the gay rumor troubling:

“I’m upset about it because it was made up and there was nothing accurate about anything that was insinuated. And he did it, as he does everything, just for attention. I am probably more upset because I probably should have responded to it at the time it was going on. The advice to me was “Hey, just don’t address it. It’s not worth it. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s ridiculous. All it’s going to do is have people continue to talk about his book.” So I didn’t. But I probably could have responded differently and maybe that would have changed things. Maybe it wouldn’t have. But it is ridiculous, and, yeah, it bothers me. If that is a lifestyle people choose, so be it. It doesn’t affect me one way or another. But it is not my lifestyle.”

Meanwhile, Deadspin argues that the feud between Aikman and Bayless is more or less for show:

Fox Sports isn’t ESPN, where employees are severely reprimanded for criticizing colleagues. Fox Sports employees are free to talk politics on Twitter, to get in the mud and wrestle with naysayers, and to float despicable conspiracy theories. Under Jamie Horowitz, Fox Sports’s strategy has been to hire the worst of ESPN’s yakkers and give them free rein to promulgate their shitty, bad takes, to generate as much controversy as possible. This strategy assumes that all publicity is good publicity, especially if it distracts from the network’s middling ratings.
