Mike Pence Ran a Conservative Think Tank That Published Anti-Gay Articles

Mike Pence ran a conservative think tank and publication that published anti-gay articles and also denounced the presence of AIDS activists at the 1996 Republican National Convention.

As president of the Indiana Policy Review from 1991 to 1994, Pence implicitly sanctioned anti-gay articles that called on gay journalists to out themselves to expose their ‘bias’ and conflated homosexuality with pedophilia and disease. Right Wing Watch reports:

In one item titled “The Pinked Newsroom,” published in the December 1993 issue, the publication lamented that The Wall Street Journal took part in a job fair for gay journalists. The piece claimed that “gaydom” was a “pathological condition” and argued that LGBT editors and reporters should not keep their sexuality a secret because it might slant their coverage. “[T]he more extreme of the gay movement consider themselves members of a sexual determined political party,” the piece explained.

A few months earlier, in August 1993, the journal, with Pence on the masthead, published a piece objecting to the idea of gay people serving in the military. The article, written by Col. Ronald Ray, a senior fellow at the [name foundation], stated that “homosexuals are not as a group able bodied. They are known to carry extremely high rates of disease brought on because of the nature of their sexual practices and the promiscuity which is a hallmark of their lifestyle.”

The article went on to list what the author described as “‘gay’ sexual practices” in great detail. It then claimed that proponents of allowing gays to serve in the military ignore “counter-espionage case histories involving homosexuals who became traitors through blackmail.”

Finally, Ray attempted to link homosexuality to pedophilia by citing NAMBLA and quoting a publication which claimed that “the love between man and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality.”

Documents unearthed by RWW also show that Pence penned a piece back in the October-November 1996 issue of Indiana Policy Review in which he bemoaned that year’s GOP convention as being “an endless line of pro-choice women, AIDS activists, and proponents of Affirmative Action.”

The “AIDS activists” Pence refers to were an HIV positive female former Ford administration staffer and a 6 year-old child who was born with HIV.

But as RWW notes, those were likely not the activists Pence was really referring to: “His objection was likely that at the time, HIV/AIDS was still viewed as a gay issue. Pence clearly did not consider LGBT individuals part of the “pro-family” party he envisioned the GOP to be.”

Review: Summer Luk Presents Trans Talent spotlights trans performers

Review: Summer Luk Presents Trans Talent spotlights trans performers

On Friday, August 26, 2016, GLAAD’s intern Summer Luk curated and hosted a charity showcase at Ludlow Studios to benefit the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE). Luk’s goals for the event were to create a space where performance and community could merge by shining a spotlight on the talent and gifts that trans people have to offer and to raise funds for NCTE.

With performers like spoken word poet Trace Peterson, rapper Jesse Sgambati, genderqueer storyteller Jacob Tobia, comic Tammy Twotone, and Summer herself, the show was jam-packed with entertainment.

Trace Peterson opened the show by reading two of her own poems, including one about hormone therapy which gave the audience an in-depth account of her own experience. Jacob Tobia lightened the mood by telling funny stories of their dating life, ending their set with a sing along of Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.” Jesse Sgambati followed by performing three songs for the audience. One song, Lifeline, was dedicated to a special girl in the audience and everyone in the crowd swooned over the romantic gesture. Next up was Boston comedy veteran Tammy Twotone who made everyone laugh with her funny standup routine, reassuring everyone in the audience that the only reason she has going into the ladies’ room was “drugs.” Summer herself closed the show, performing “I Am a Girl” and two unreleased songs, ending the night on a high note.

Attended by over 100 people, the night was a huge success, leaving the audience in both tears and laughter. GLAAD congratulates Summer on creating an event that gave a much-needed platform to trans artists and raised funds for the great work being done by NCTE every day.

Deeply Unhinged Gay Scam Artist Craig Jungwirth Threatens Orlando-Style Massacre

Deeply Unhinged Gay Scam Artist Craig Jungwirth Threatens Orlando-Style Massacre

300x300

You may remember a post from earlier this year involving certifiable creepcake Craig Jungwirth, the Beach Bear Weekend organizer who took it upon himself to tell The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to “man up.” It soon became clear he was using the event primarily to scam money out of unsuspecting members of the gay community.

In case anyone needed further evidence that he’s crazy and otherwise inadvisable, Jungwirth is now threatening Peacock Panache, the publication that first broke the news about his profound unseemliness.

According to the paper, he’s left creepy voicemails and text messages and bombed their social media websites with spam and threats. He’s even tried to hack their server in an attempt to access articles they’ve written about him in the past.

In a Facebook post to user David Herbert, Jungwirth also decided it was wise to invoke the Orlando massacre:

My events are selling out cause you f**gots are total patsies. None of you deserve to live. If you losers thought the Pulse nightclub shooting was bad, wait till you see what I’m planning for Labor Day.

When Herbert warned he was contacting police, Jungwirth shot back with this:

You can’t never catch a genius from MIT and since you f**gots aren’t dying from AIDS anymore, I have a better solution to exterminate you losers. [SNIP]

I’m gonna be killing you f*gs faster than the cops kill n**gers. It’s time to clean up Wilton Manors from all you AIDS infested losers.

According to a statement sent to Peacock Panache, authorities are aware of the situation:

The Wilton Manors Police Department (WMPD) takes all matters seriously especially when someone threatens the lives of the Wilton Manors Community to include our residents, business owners/employees, visitors, and the surrounding communities. The Wilton Manors Police Department is aware of this serious matter and our department is currently conducting an on-going investigation on this matter and the individual(s) involved. Due to the on-going investigation we are unable to provide any details about the investigation and what current information our department has learned about this matter and the individual(s) involved at this time.

Please know that our Police Officers and Detectives are thoroughly investigating this serious matter and we ask the community to continue to contact local law enforcement officials should they hear or see any other additional posts on Social Media/new threats made by these individual(s) or anyone else.

As Peacock Panache reports, Jungwirth already has a prolific history of stalking and has myriad restraining orders under his belt.

We’ll be back with more gay news after this brief Silkwood shower.

Here’s The Teenage Sam Smith Video He Doesn’t Want You To See

sam-smith-diva-boy

What were you doing when you were 16 years old?

If you answered “making strides to become an internationally lauded singing sensation,” then you have a lot in common with Sam Smith.

If you answered “siphoning from the family liquor cabinet and meeting up with friends at the local [gorge, canyon, strip mall parking lot, etc.],” then you have a lot in common with us. But we digress.

When Smith was just a lad of 16, he recorded an album while signed with the Flipbook Music label. Think low budget, shoddy production value, but a start is a start!

The studio has decided now is the time to cash in on their previously unreleased baby-Sam Smith tracks, with the album Sam Smith Diva Boy (actually, that’s an amazing title) coming out soon.

Smith has nothing to do with the project at this point.

The first single, “Momentarily Mine,” was just released online with an awkward, angsty video.

“Sam is currently an award winning global pop star, however, it didn’t happen overnight and without a lot of work,” the company writes on the YouTube page for the video. “Yes, Sam was in development and trained for success over three years with Flipbook Music, a London based Indie Label. It was at Flipbook Music that Sam’s dreams were nurtured, his, then undiscovered, talents uncovered and developed and it was there he learned his art. It’s also where he experienced all his ‘firsts’, including recording his first album, his first live and video performances and first interviews and, later on, his interviews as an informed person when he shares his views on life, love, sexuality and more. This journey was recorded every step of the way for the making of the documentary Sam Smith – The Lost Years.”

“It’s easy to see how all those ‘firsts’ shaped Sam’s, inevitable, journey to success as we watch him emerge from a ‘teenage wannabe’ to a ‘ready-to-be’ pop star and informed person ….. probably the most unique footage ever seen of a global pop star in training, leading to the fulfillment of all his dreams and ambitions … and only now being made available.”

Sam may have preferred for this to never see the light of day, but all things considered, it’s pretty impressive.

‘Gay Bachelor’ Robert Sepulveda Jr.: My Past as an Escort ‘is the Past’ – WATCH

‘Gay Bachelor’ Robert Sepulveda Jr.: My Past as an Escort ‘is the Past’ – WATCH

robert sepulveda jr

Logo’s ‘gay Bachelor’, Robert Sepulveda Jr., addressed his past as a male escort in a new interview.

As we’ve reported, Sepulveda is set to be the centerpiece of Finding Prince Charming, which follows a bevy of gay suitors vying for Sepulveda’s heart. Sepulveda, along with Finding Prince Charming host Lance Bass, sat down with The Huffington Post’s Noah Michelson to talk about the rumors that he worked as an escort.

“The past is the past,” Sepulveda said. “I was young and it helped through college. But what I want people to focus on is who I am today as an entrepreneur, as an activist. I started a non-profit and, you know, focusing on the show. That’s really what I want people to focus on.”

Bass quipped, “We all have our past. I was in a boy band. I’ll admit it.”

Michelson provided a personal note on Sepulveda’s past sex work, saying, “I think, personally, there’s something sort of great about that though…[that this show] is not just heteronormative.”

Sepulveda also commented that being on the show allowed both him and the suitors to confront guilt and shame they have felt around various issues in their lives. “The show allowed me as well to close a lot of chapters in my life that I felt a lot of guilt around, a lot of shame and a lot of things I thought I couldn’t share and express,” he said.

Sepulveda also explained what he considers to be the definition of a ‘Prince Charming.’ “Being understanding and accepting, that to me is a Prince Charming,” Sepulveda added.

Rumors about Sepulveda’s past began to circulate last week after a Towleroad commenter suggested that Sepulveda once had profiles on Rentboy.com and daddyreviews.com. Another report (extremely work-unfriendly) suggested he also had a profile on Rentmen and went by the aliases Vincent Roman and JordanAthleteTen.

Towleroad commenter “Stno” then wrote,

“Robert Sepulveda also known as rentboy Vincent Romen (2006-2012). Was according to several (very trusted) clients on www.daddyreviews.com and rentboy.com known for having racist (no melanin) preferences. The non white contestants in this gay Bachelor edition are only PR added to make him seem not racist.

Hi most famous bedroom client is Marc Jacobs. His not very bright, if he doesn’t realize that the Internet never forgets.”

Kenneth Walsh pointed out that a now-defunct website called PartyWithBrandon had very work-unfriendly photos allegedly of Sepulveda from the time when he was supposedly working as an escort. The site also features reviews from his Rentboy page. The reviews all date back to 2006.

In the past week, graphic videos (again, very work-unfriendly) purporting to show Sepulveda have also emerged.
