Colton Haynes will be joining the second season of Ryan Murphy’s TV show Scream Queens, the campy and soapy send-up of slasher films that debuted last year on Fox.

While season 1 took place largely in sorority and frat houses, season 2 will reportedly focus on a hospital, with many of the same faces returning.

Entertainment Weekly reports:

EW can reveal exclusively that Colton Haynes (Arrow) will guest star in a mystery role when the show returns this fall.

The second season of the Fox series finds Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) in ownership of a hospital with the Chanels – Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, and Abigail Breslin – all working there too. Series newcomers John Stamos and Taylor Lautner play doctors.

Haynes also shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Very excited to share the news 🙂 Cant wait to start work on Scream Queens Season 2!!! :)”

Haynes made a name for himself on the MTV show Teen Wolf before becoming a recurring character on CW’s Arrow.

Haynes recently launched his own line of fan merchandise, which was met with both praise and derision on Twitter.

Earlier this year, the actor confirmed that he is gay after speculation intensified about his “secret gay past.”

Trump’s Secret Nomination-Eve ‘Come-to-Ivanka’ Moment: The Bright Report

Trump’s Secret Nomination-Eve ‘Come-to-Ivanka’ Moment: The Bright Report

Ivanka moment Donald Nomination Eve Recap GOP ConventionFADE IN:

INT. — Manhattan Trump Manse foyer. Matching suitcases stand near the door.

“Papa, I won’t be humiliated tonight. Not one more time.”

“Of course not, angel.” Donald wasn’t looking at her. “What are these bags doing here? It’s time to put on your pretty pink dress you’re selling.”

“Really? What do you call last night? What do you call me being degraded on national television? Do you have any idea that I am the one thin line between you and complete chaos on that floor? Do you think I’m going to dress up like Caitlin Jenner in this godforsaken burg and save YOUR ass again?”

Little Barron walked into the hall and started yanking open a series of Louis IV drawers looking for spare Tubmans and candy. “Daddy made the bad man fly!  Daddy made the Cruz man fly!”

He reached up to Ivanka’s blouse as if there might be something hidden in there, too. She elbowed him and he yelped.

“Papa— get your Mother-of-the-Year in here to collect her insufferable brat!”

Donald bellowed down the gold corridor: “Hey, ‘Michelle Trump,’ would ya get in here and feed our little man? He’s hungry. Princess and I gotta deal to close.”

He peeled Barron a few bills off his wad and gave the boy’s ass a scooch out the door. “Go play in your mother’s underwear drawer, will ya?”

Ivanka hadn’t made one move to put on the $138 Macy’s sheath from her own Collection. It was cut a little funny, and Melania had laughed at it— but Donald said Ivanka would be a knock-out in a burlap sack.

Still, her hair looked like straw. Her mascara was smeared from last night’s debacle. And she knew it.

“Look, Papa, I’ve talked to Jared and he said I don’t have to do this.”

“Baby! Tinka! You know I can’t do this without you!” Donald assumed a submissive pose few in public have seen.

“Apparently you can’t do it with me, either. I’ve lost every friend I’ve ever had. While I’m sitting in your VIP fight cage with those morons, Chelsea is drinking with all our old friends and making a life for herself. A life *I* had, exactly one year ago.”

“Whatever you want, princess, sweetheart— you know I’ll do anything— you’re always right.” He reached for Ivanka’s arm but she was more agile than any of his WWE fighters.

She reached into her bag and handed him a neatly-typed speech.

“I’m going to lean in tonight, Papa, and you— you are going to bend over, backwards. You are going to get down on your knees in that fucking Payday Loans Arena  and thank our gay friends who make all of this possible— she waved toward the floor-to-ceiling French Baroque.

“Baby, baby, you know I love our fagola friends. Sebastian, Sebastian, what was I sayin’ about him last night, he makes the best calamari—”

Ivanka picked up a half-filled champagne goblet and dashed it to the floor.

“YOU. CANNOT. SAY. FAG. in front of a national TV audience”—she marched up close to her father, her Louboutin heels crushing what remained of the broken crystal.

“Listen to me,” she said, “And repeat: L.G.B.T.Q. L.G.B.T.Q.! —That is what you’re going to say tonight and you’re going to say it like you mean it. You don’t have fucking cent left in this campaign and I don’t have anyone to do my hair, let alone go out with. —SAY IT! Say it to me now!”

Donald hadn’t seen anything like this before.

“Honey, sweetheart, you’re getting your face all wrinkled. Papa can say it, see, look at me… “L-B-G-F-Fuggedaboutit!”

She stared at him.

L-B-G-T-Queerzo! —Hey, how come they can say queer and I can’t?

“You think— you think this is another one of your jokes.” Ivanka pulled another piece of paper out of her pantsuit.

Huh, when did she start wearing pantsuits?

“Here’s my plane ticket,” she said, “I’m leaving this Orange Wedding in one hour.”

Donald looked at the commercial flight paper, and blanched.  “L.G.B,T,Q,” he whispered.

“Louder, Papa. Louder.—And what are you going to do with all those fundamentalist mouth-breathers you stuck me with last night? Lynne Patton was sitting with a bunch of cowboys who wanted to touch her HAIR!”

“Baby, seat them in Siberia, I don’t care. LGBTQ! LGBTQ!”

***

And so it came to pass, that after four days of numbing bigotry and bloodthirsty raving, a five-year-old African-American Girl came out in big white bows and sang, “Let there Be Peace on Earth.”

Ivanka Trump appeared in her modest blush gown and gave a speech right out Betty Friedan’s Feminine Mystique.

Little Barron was prodded into the VIP cage and cuddled with Tiffany before he slouched and stuffed his hands in his pockets. There was no more candy— Mom was such a bitch.

Ivanka nailed it. Papa knew she wouldn’t let him down. The Donald had triumphed. He strode on stage to embrace his Favorite, the one little girl he respected in the whole wide world. He’d even let her have her Chelsea Clinton tea parties after this thing was all over.

He whispered how proud he was, in her pearled ear. Ivanka’s eyes were far away but they just needed a little work and she’d look like a millennial again.

With one last burst of proprietary devotion he reached his hand around her little pink number and squeezed her ass. This was going to be a great Presidency—believe me.

Donald Trump Promises To Protect The LGBTQ Community, Twitter Reacts

Donald Trump

During Donald Trump‘s scarefest…err, speech, he promised to protect Americans from the attacks we are all personally about to become the victims of when the sky falls on our collective heads, which will happen immediately. That is, unless he is elected to the highest office in the land.

Related: Again, Trump Insists He’s Better For ‘The Gays’ Than Hillary. This Time, ‘The Gays’ Strike Back.

Don’t let the Republican Party’s homophobic and transphobic platform fool you, nor Trump’s own anti-LGBT rhetoric, nor the anti-LGBT actions of his vice presidential pick Mike Pence; a President Trump would protect us all.

Or so he claims.

“As your President, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology,” Trump said.

#LGBTQ quickly became a trending hashtag and it was quick to see without looking too far that the vast majority of people weren’t buying it.

New Study Says Gay Couples in Open Relationships Can Have Closer Bonds

New Study Says Gay Couples in Open Relationships Can Have Closer Bonds

open relationship

A new study suggests that open relationships among gay couples could bring a couple closer together.

While open relationships are much more prevalent among gay couples compared to heterosexual couples, there is often still stigma attached to such relationships. And some continue to wonder whether sex and love can ever be separated.

The Guardian reports:

In June 2015, Christopher Stults, a researcher at The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior, and Prevention Studies at New York University, launched a qualitative study of 10 gay couples in open relationships. He conducted 45-minute, individual interviews with each of these men and their partners, who ranged in age from 19 to 43.

The study, funded by the Rural Center for Aids/STD Prevention at Indiana University, had multiple aims. “We wanted to see how these relationships form and evolve over time, and examine the perceived relationship quality, relationship satisfaction, and potential risk for HIV/STI infection,” says Stults, who finished coding the interviews this week at NYU and hopes to have the study published early next year.

So far, Stults says his finding is that non-monogamous relationships can lead to a happier, more fulfilling relationship. “My impression so far is that they don’t seem less satisfied, and it may even be that their communication is better than among monogamous couples because they’ve had to negotiate specific details,” Stults says.

And open relationships “don’t seem to put gay men at disproportionate risk for HIV and other STDs,” Stults says. “To my knowledge, no one contracted HIV and only one couple contracted an STD,” he says.

The stigma of being an open relationship, however does persist. Said Hugh McIntyre, a New York man in an open relationship interviewed by The Guardian, “We’ve run into gay and straight people who have assumed our relationship is ‘lesser than’ because we’re not monogamous. I think that’s offensive and ridiculous,”

Most of the couples included in the study said that setting and sticking to a set of rules was key for making the open relationship work.

Brian Norton, a psychotherapist who specializes in gay couples and an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s department of counseling and clinical psychology, had doubts about the efficacy of open relationships, saying, “Sex is an emotional experience. There is emotion at play, and even in the most transactional experience someone can get attached.”

Michael Bronski, a professor in the department of women, gender and sexuality at Harvard University, however, said it’s not surprising gay men have turned to open relationships: “Because they’ve been excluded from traditional notions of sexual behavior, they’ve had to be trendsetters and forge their own relationship norms.”

Wherever you stand on the subject, it’s probably a good idea to take this study (and all popularized ‘scientific studies’) with a grain of salt.

Seeking New Alabama Healthcare Equality Index Leaders in 2017

Seeking New Alabama Healthcare Equality Index Leaders in 2017

Post submitted by Eva Kendrick, HRC Alabama State Manager

This August, HRC will host two lunch-and-learn opportunities for healthcare administrators across the state to learn more about participation in the Healthcare Equality Index 2017 survey. These events will be held in Birmingham on Wednesday, August 24, and Huntsville on Thursday, August 25.

The Healthcare Equality Index – an annual survey implemented by the HRC Foundation – is used by inpatient and outpatient healthcare organizations nationwide to strengthen the care they offer LGBTQ patients, as well as the support and protections offered to LGBTQ healthcare staff. Healthcare facilities participating in the 2017 HEI survey will be scored in four key areas of LGBTQ inclusion: Non-Discrimination and Staff Training, Patient Services and Support, Patient and Community Engagement and Employee Benefits and Policies. Facilities that score high by having a number of policies and best practices in place will be recognized as top performers and those that score 100 in the survey will receive the designation of Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, Cooper Green Mercy Health Services, Medical West Health Centers, and the VA Medical Centers in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery all achieved this key “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” status in the 2016 survey.

While these six medical centers represent incredible improvement in LGBTQ patient-centered care in Alabama, the fact that nearly fifty percent of LGBTQ Alabamians do not consider their doctor to be LGBTQ friendly while many more LGBTQ patients still face discrimination or harassment from healthcare providers and healthcare facility staff proves that recruiting more hospitals to participate in the 2017 HEI survey is a critical next step to ensuring fully-inclusive and competent healthcare for all Alabamians.

HRC’s August HEI Lunch-and-Learn series will be an opportunity for healthcare administrators to learn more about implementing LGBTQ patient-centered best practices through case studies offered by local healthcare administrators whose hospitals have participated in previous HEI surveys, as well as an opportunity to connect directly with Tari Hanneman, Director of HRC’s Health Equality Project. Registration for the lunch-and-learns is free with lunch included in each registration.

For more information on August’s HEI Lunch-and-Learns, please contact Eva Kendrick at [email protected].
