Based On New Teasers, What Will The New “American Horror Story” Be About?
Demonoid hands reach out from stairwells. Babies wail from inside creaky carriages, possibly responding to the mawkish folksy humming. A serpent streaks determinedly through a woman’s hair, disappearing into her agape mouth; almost never a good omen. A family with red eyes stares fondly at you. Buzzing chainsaws and screams ring out from a ramshackle house. And a bald man clutches his skull, where the number “26” is writ out in stitches and scar tissue.

That’s the imagery producers are taunting us with over at American Horror Story, which kicks off its sixth season on September 14th. But what does it all mean? Will the next season be a delirious mashup of Rosemary’s Baby, The People Under The Stairs, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Village of the Damned, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Frankenstein?

At DNC, Gavin Newsom Rips Mike Pence for Supporting Torture of Gay Kids: WATCH
California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been speaking his mind as of late about the Republican Party and the support it has shown for gay conversion therapy in its platform, went after Trump’s running mate Mike Pence on Wednesday night at the DNC.
Newsom used his appearance on stage to point out that Pence hoped to divert AIDS funding to programs supporting gay conversion therapy.
Said Newsom:
While it’s refreshing to finally see an openly gay man speak at a Republican convention, it doesn’t remove the stain of selecting Mike Pence, America’s most anti-LGBTQ governor. Pence supported overt discrimination and even advocated diverting taxpayer dollars to so-called “conversion therapy.” That’s not “praying away the gay;” it’s emotional torture against our most innocent citizens, our children. Telling them that to live, they must lie. About who they are, and who they love. That’s fundamentally un-American. The age-old choice has never been more clear: We can live our fears or live our dreams.
Hillary Clinton has dedicated her life to putting the American Dream within reach. She believes in diversity over division. The hard work of pluralism over the “illusion of differences.”
And as a father of four, I want to say something to all the children who are watching and listening at home. When you hear people say that you and your family don’t matter because of who you are, or where you came from, or what you look like, or who you love, I want you to know one thing: The people in this room, and all across the country, believe that you matter.

Trevor Noah Calls Out Donald Trump for Being a Fascist Who Will End American Democracy: WATCH
The Daily Show host Trevor Noah took Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to task for his remarks imploring Russia to hack his opponent, Hillary Clinton.
Sensing that he was losing the spotlight because this week is the Democratic National Convention, Trump held a press conference on Wednesday and told reporters,
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing [from Hillary Clinton’s email account]. I think you will probably be mightily rewarded by our press.”
Noah’s reaction?
“Are you sh**ing me? Did this guy, a man running for president, just ask Russia to hack America? Donald Trump called on a foreign nation to commit a crime to hurt his political opponent. This is what happened people, in real life. It’s not a matter of interpretation.”
And yet many Republicans and Trump’s staff tried to play off Trump’s treasonous remarks as a ‘joke.’
Noah proceeded to sound the alarm and make clear just how dangerous Donald Trump really is:
“This should be no contest… With Hillary Clinton, worst-case scenario, you have a bad president for four years, right? And America’s had bad presidents before. You’ll get through it. But America, you have never had a Donald Trump before.
A man claiming to be the leader law and order and make America safe candidate. That man who invites foreign hackers to steal files that he himself said contain national security data. That man. That’s a leader you’ve never had. A man who publicly admires and very possibly colludes with Vladimir Putin. A man who is lovingly endorsed by Kim Jong Un. A man who praises and doubles down on praising Saddam Hussein. These are his role models.
These people you have to understand, once they’re in power, they don’t go away. You don’t get to a chance to vote them out in four years. Their rule ends when the country ends. To all the people out there considering voting for Trump, I hope you enjoy your vote. Because on days like this, you realize, this could be the very last vote you will ever get.”

Lady Gaga, Twin Peaks, Cher, Megyn Kelly, Chelsea Clinton, AHS Season 6: HOT LINKS
HOT TICKET. Lady Gaga to perform invite-only show Thursday afternoon in Camden, NJ for Democratic National Convention delegates: “George Norcross and the Senate Majority PAC are hosting the invite-only “Camden Rising” event Thursday afternoon with invites going out to all of the convention’s delegates, hours before Hillary Clinton accepts the Democratic Party’s nomination…’It’s going to be, with the exception of the acceptance speech by Hillary Clinton, the hottest ticket at the convention based on the responses that we’ve gotten so far,’ Norcross said last week.”
PICTURED. Megyn Kelly flirts with CNN? “Under different circumstances, the photo above might not be a big deal. So what if Fox News’s Megyn Kelly was hanging out with CNN’s Don Lemon at 3 a.m., after Democratic National Convention coverage ended? People at rival networks are allowed to be friends, right? Right. But Kelly’s contract is up after the election, and she has publicly discussed the possibility of leaving Fox News.”

GIVE OTHER COUNTRIES WORK AGAIN. Donald Trump’s clubs hiring foreign workers: “The GOP presidential nominee is hiring 78 staffers at two of his Florida resorts — but he’s looking to bring in foreign workers to fill the slots, according to public records.”
CHILDREN’S SUMMIT. Chelsea Clinton says she’d consider meeting with Ivanka: “I think it was clear last week when Ivanka introduced her dad that she’s so proud of him. I hope it will be kind of at least as clear why I’m so proud of my mom when I introduce her here in Philadelphia. And yet clearly Ivanka and I have different views about who we think should be our president and who we think best represents our country.”

MULTIPLE MANIACS. Michael Musto interviews John Waters: “We were making fun of peace and love. And hippies came to see it, and they liked that they were being attacked — and they turned into punks a few years later. I still feel comfortable as a punk. They’re always down-low gay anyway. A lot of bikers came, and some gays, but the gay people were crazy. They didn’t get along with other people back then, or with hippies that were yippies [politicized hippies]. They were troublemakers. Everybody was a troublemaker. But I was a yippie, not a hippie. Divine and I used to go to communes in San Francisco and throw sugar and meat on the front steps of vegetarians. We’re multiple maniacs.”
AVIATION. Boeing may end production of 747. “If we are unable to obtain sufficient orders and/or market, production and other risks cannot be mitigated, we could record additional losses that may be material, and it is reasonably possible that we could decide to end production of the 747.”
AKBAR. Silver Lake gay bar turns 20: “‘We were the first gay bar that didn’t have disco and divas,’ Alexander said. ‘We had rock ‘n roll.’ And punk, of course, the genre that brought the two together in the first place. They had a no-Madonna policy for the first 18 years of their existence, saying you could go hear Madonna anywhere. They only recently amended their Cher policy, but will only stock the vintage hits, Craig said. They have also been known to load the jukebox with local music.”
NOVEL TRAILER. The Secret History of Twin Peaks: “When David Lynch and Mark Frost announced the return of the landmark TV show Twin Peaks, fans were obviously beside themselves with excitement, but it raised more than a few questions. Who exactly would be returning? How faithful would this new season be to the story of the original? But perhaps most pressingly, what in the hell has been going in the town of Twin Peaks since we left it over 25 years ago? That answer, and more, will be revealed in an upcoming novel by Frost titled The Secret History of Twin Peaks. And as the newly released trailer shows, its going to be just as spooky and mysterious as you expect.”

Black Gay Man Takes Center Stage at DNC to Talk About HIV
For the first time in 12 years, a person living with HIV addressed a major political party at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Daniel Driffin, a 30 year old native of Atlanta, Georgia, took center stage yesterday, speaking about HIV & AIDS advocacy.
Driffin, a Black, gay man, wears many hats in Georgia. He is Co-Chair of the Task Force on AIDS and HIV in Fulton County, a Youth HIV Policy Advisor for Georgia Equality, and the co-founder of three, HIV-related projects: The Young Black Gay Men’s Leadership Initiative, Thrive SS, Inc., and Undetectables Atlanta, an online support group for more than 400 gay and bisexual men living with HIV. Driffin also recently appeared in a PBS segment detailing the impact of the HIV epidemic in Atlanta.
In his nationally televised speech, Driffin reflected on the trajectory of the HIV and AIDS epidemic and issued a call to action for Democrats to “invest in research and education, to expand treatment and prevention [options], and to elect Hillary Clinton.” Driffin went on to say that, “with Hillary Clinton as our President, I believe that we can meet our goal of an AIDS-free generation.”
“His speech inspired so many Black gay or bisexual men like myself,” HRC HIV and AIDS Project Manager, Marvell Terry II, said. “I agree with Daniel that, if elected, Secretary Clinton will continue to fight for the dignity and well-being of people living with and affected by HIV.”
In May of this year, 20 HIV advocates representing a coalition of more than 70 organizations, including HRC, met with Secretary Clinton at her Brooklyn campaign headquarters to discuss her HIV and AIDS policy agenda. Clinton released her HIV platform soon after launching her campaign, and it outlines some some of her key priorities, which include “expanding the utilization of HIV prevention medications, including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).

TONIGHT, MOST LGBTQ-INCLUSIVE DNC EVER CONCLUDES ON HISTORIC NOTE: History will be made tonight at the Democratic National Convention as equality champion Hillary Clinton takes the stage becoming the first woman to accept the presidential nomination of a major party. It will also be a historic night for LGBTQ progress, as HRC’s Sarah McBride becomes the first openly transgender person to address a major party convention. HRC President Chad Griffin, named a vice chair of the convention, will also speak tonight. Both are expected to speak during the 4-6p.m. hour.
12 STATES FILE BRIEF SUPPORTING DOJ & ED’S TRANSGENDER GUIDELINES: Yesterday Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a brief on behalf of 12 states, and the District of Columbia, supporting the recent release by the Departments of Education and Justice of historic guidance advising schools on how to ensure dignity and equal treatment of transgender students in federally-funded schools. The 12-state brief counters federal lawsuits filed by the Attorneys General of Nebraska and Texas, asserting that the administration’s action and similar policies protect transgender individuals from high rates of discrimination and violence. Contrary to claims being made by Paxton and Peterson, Ferguson’s brief states, “our shared experience demonstrates that protecting the civil rights of our transgender friends, relatives, classmates, and colleagues creates no public safety threat and imposes no meaningful financial burden.” California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, DC, joined the amicus brief which was filed in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas. ICYMI: HIV OUTBREAK IN RURAL INDIANA COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED: A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine highlights how an HIV outbreak in rural Indiana could have been prevented. The study points to the deadly consequences of policies that Pence has pushed during his time in Congress and as Governor. Reminder: In Congress, Pence opposed funding for HIV prevention and suggested funding harmful conversion therapy programs. The Courier-Journal breaks down the study today: “‘A lot of things could have been done differently with our resources and capacity,’ said Carrie Lawrence, with the Indiana University School of Public Health Rural Center for HIV/STD Prevention.” More here.
WHO TO FINALLY REMOVE “TRANSGENDER IDENTITIES” FROM LIST OF MENTAL ILLNESSES: In a long-overdue move, the World Health Organization (WHO) will soon no longer classify transgender identities as mental disorder. This revision, which was unopposed, will significantly improve healthcare for transgender people. The new WHO’s codebook — the first revised edition in 25 years — is expected to be published in May 2018. More from The New York Times.
ALABAMA CHIEF JUSTICE ROY MOORE’S PATHETIC DEFENSE: In response to ethics charges filed against him for advising judges to ignore the U.S. Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision, suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore claims he took his discriminatory action simply to answer questions from probate judges. The disgraced chief justice faces potential removal by the state’s Court of the Judiciary for defying the law of the land. #NoMoore from ABC News.
THE POLITICS OF BEING ‘OUT’ AT THE RIO OLYMPICS: As athletes prepare to head to the Brazil, where the threat of violence against LGBTQ people runs high, many of the estimated 500-plus LGBTQ athletes will likely remain closeted during the games out of concern for safety and a desire to preserve focus and sponsorships, USA Today reports.
