Here’s What It’s Like To Have Your Sex Tape Leaked Online

Imagine this: You wake up, pour yourself some coffee and check your email. An acquaintance — and it’s not even someone you particularly like — has emailed a video link with the subject header “Is this you???”

So you click. And it is. It is. It is. It’s you, in a highly vulnerable position: having sex with an acquaintance — and it’s not even someone you particularly liked.

You can try to reach out to the tube site that posted the vid, but a simple search reveals people have already downloaded and uploaded it to other sites. The scene is only seven minutes, but it’s fifteen minutes of fame you never volunteered for. You’re officially and unwittingly an Internet thing

This is more or less what happened to Lokies Khan, a gay man from Singapore who discusses what it’s like having a video released online that shows you having sex.

Speaking with Dear Straight People, he talks about how the situation made him feel a total lack of control.

“The main reason why [the incident] affected me so much was because this is not something I want people to see,” he says.

Sure, some of his Instagram pictures depict him in various states of undress, but those are images he chose to share with the world.

“Things that I post on Instagram are things that are within my control, are things I want people to see, [that] I’m comfortable with people to look at,” he says. “But these gifs of me on Tumblr are not within my control. I did not give consent. I did not know it was there.”

He laments the overabundance of “backstabbing,” “slandering,” “gossiping,” “shaming” and “judgement” that wafts from the gay community.

“This is an issue,” he says. “This is a problem in the community that we are facing, and people think it’s OK — it’s not. There are people out there who wouldn’t have the mental capacity to cope with this. These are things that are potentially lethal. It could destroy someone’s life.”

To other victims, Khan offers support: “You are not alone. I get what you’re feeling. There is nothing to be ashamed of.”

This Gay Remake of the Opening Credits of ‘Cheers’ is Poignant and Perfect: WATCH

gay cheers

The vintage opening visuals of the iconic 80’s TV series Cheers are as iconic as its theme music. Singer-songwriter K Anderson took them as inspiration for this lovely reinterpretation that resonates powerfully after the Orlando massacre.

We do need the places where everybody knows our name, more today than ever.

Writes Anderson on Facebook:

This has been ready to go for a while, but then Orlando happened, and then Brexit happened, and then the world continued to feel as though it was falling apart, and I didn’t feel much like sharing…. But, here we go…

When I was recording this song it struck me that the lyrics, and especially the line ‘you want to go where people know, people are all the same’ could be describing the safety and solace found by outsiders in a gay bar. So, I went digging for vintage photos of gay bars, clubs and parties in order to recreate the iconic opening credits from the tv show…. And, it was hard! There are not that many old photos out there of people in gay bars (unless they are rioting out the front!), and especially few from the UK.

So, what you find in this video is what I hope is a neat collection of photos through time, from Berlin and Paris in the 1930s, to the Mattachine Society, to Stonewall, to the disco craze of the 70s.

Enjoy:

Sivan’s previous solo version of “Wild” centered on two childhood friends falling in love despite their father’s attempt to keep them apart.

Sivan spoke with Billboard about the latest video:

“We shot this music video that basically just profiles love in a couple of young relationships and young love,” Sivan told Billboard during the SweeTarts & Entertainment Weekly Con-X Comic-Con preview night free concert on Wednesday in San Diego. “For me, the song is always about those initial butterflies you get when you meet someone new. I wanted to capture that and capture it in a bunch of different ways and show people that love is love no matter what form it’s in.”

Earlier Friday, Silvan sent some of his fans around the world out to capture a bit of that same magical feeling of youthful adventure with a scavenger hunt in search of VHS tapes containing “Wild” video, giving fans a chance to view the video prior to its digital release.

No word yet if any of the people who found the VHS tape actually had a VCR to play it.

In addition to being a music phenom, Sivan is also a YouTube star (with 4.2 million subscribers as of this point) and an actor (whom you may recall from X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Won’t Gavel In the Democratic Convention

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Won’t Gavel In the Democratic Convention

Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Debbie Wassermann Schultz has announced she will not gavel in the Democratic National Convention as it gets underway in Philadelphia.

Schultz was supposed to open the convention despite announcing over the weekend that she would step down as chair of the DNC after the convention concluded later this week. That position became untenable after Schultz was loudly booed at a public appearance in front of the Florida Democratic delegation Monday morning. Schultz hails from Florida where she represents Broward County in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Schultz told the Sun-Sentinel

“I have decided that in the interest of making sure that we can start the Democratic convention on a high note that I am not going to gavel in the convention,” Wasserman Schultz said.

“I stepped down the other day because I wanted to make sure that having brought us to this momentous day and to Philadelphia and planned the convention that is going to be the best one that we’ve ever had in our party’s history that this needs to be all about making sure that everyone knows that Hillary Clinton would make the best president,” she said.
