Ted Cruz Booed Off Stage After Humiliating Donald Trump; Sadly Unsatisfying

They say the enemy of your enemy is your friend, but that’s really not going to hold up in the case of Republican presidential nominee Donald Jiminy Trump and the puffy beast he slay to achieve said nomination, Ted Cruz.

But we still love that Cruz threw some not-so-subtle shade on the man he’s called “utterly amoral,” “a pathological liar,” and “a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen” during Cruz’s convention speech Wednesday night.

Suffice it to say, the crowd did not love Cruz’s verbal footwork.

Cruz actually made it through his entire speech without endorsing the Donald, a dynamic we can’t imagine occurs too often during a national convention primetime slot.

“I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night,” Cruz said at the beginning of his remarks. “And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes prevail in November.”

After that, he never mentioned Trump’s name again, instead urging the crowd to “vote your conscience.”

Eventually the audience caught wind of the snub, interrupting Cruz with chants of “We want Trump!” With a sneer reminiscent of Snidely Whiplash, Cruz just stayed on course and finished his speech. By the end, he was outright booed off stage.

So Ted Cruz is booed off stage — why don’t we feel any better? Oh, right — look who we’re left with.

Watch Cruz’s burn play out below, and don’t miss the camera cutting to Trump, who is clearly trying to keep things looking positive and unified, despite the elephant in the room:

Third Eye Blind Trolls RNC Attendees in Cleveland with Pro-LGBT, Anti-GOP Message

Third Eye Blind Trolls RNC Attendees in Cleveland with Pro-LGBT, Anti-GOP Message

After a set of unknown songs and boos from a massively disappointed crowd of Republican attendees, Third Eye Blind became instant heroes of the LGBT rights movement.

The band was being billed as the “headline performing act” at a benefit concert at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland. Instead of playing any of their hits like “Semi-Charmed Life” or “How’s It Going to Be,” however, lead singer Stephan Jenkins used his microphone to blast the GOP ideology with pro-LGBT and pro-science messages, and played the group’s obscure tracks.

The audience of RNC attendees was not pleased, but the band didn’t seem to care.

Jenkins asked the crowd to raise their hand if they believed in science, talked about the need bring people like “my cousins, who are gay, into the American fabric,” and about “not living your life in fear and imposing that fear on other people.”

In a Facebook post, the group explained why they had agreed to do the show: “Given that the benefit was held in Cleveland, we suspected that convention types might show up and we let it be known we were there to support Musicians on Call and that we in fact repudiate every last stitch of the RNC platform and the grotesque that is their nominee.” They go on to say what their disagreements with the GOP’s platform are: “Science is science. Coal is not clean. Black Lives Matter. LGBTQ = equal. Separation of church and state (still a good idea).”

Epic @ThirdEyeBlind troll of RNC event. Played none of the hits, bashed GOP platform, asked “Who here believes in science?” So much booing.

Third Eye Blind is 100% trolling Republicans. 30 minutes in, zero songs anybody has heard of

— Brent Scher (@BrentScher) July 20, 2016

At one point, Jenkins told the crowd: “You can boo all you want, but I’m the mothe**ing artist up here!”

The concert was a “charity event for Musicians on Call (MOC) during the Republican National Convention,” hosted by the Recording Industry Association of America RIAA according to the press release. MOC is a “nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.”

Ted Cruz booed

Ted Cruz was booed thunderously during his Republican National Convention address by people shouting “endorse Trump!”

Cruz chose not to endorse Donald Trump once during his speech, encouraging  the crowd to “vote your conscience:”

We deserve leaders who stand for principle. Unite us all behind shared values. Cast aside anger for love. That is the standard we should expect, from everybody.

And to those listening, please, don’t stay home in November. If you love our country, and love your children as much as I know you do, stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.

Watch (we’ll add video as it comes in):

And Trump noticed. He was caught on camera saying “They booed.”
