This Pride Meme Is Pissing Off A Lot Of Gay People

memeHave you seen the “Straight Pride” hashtag that’s been going around lately? Yeah, it’s dumb; it’s nothing new; it’s not particularly clever; it barely warrants any response at all. But there’s another Pride-related meme making the rounds as well, and it’s infuriating.

The image shows a group of protestors holding signs in what looks like the 80s-ish, with slogans like “Smash gay oppression” and “parents of gays unite in support for our children.” “This is gay pride,” reads the text of the meme, and then juxtaposed with the old protest image is a picture of sexy dancers on a float. “This is bullshit,” the meme continues.

Ugh, no, stop. You are not the Pride Police, meme, and nobody gets to decide what everyone else’s Pride is. It’s something different for everyone. Some of us want a protest, some of us want sex, some of us want politics, some of us want music. Pride is best when it can be a lot of things to a lot of people and welcome as many people as possible.

Also, don’t try to tell us that all of the protestors marching in that parade wouldn’t have fapped to the sight of hunks gyrating on a rainbow float. Just because you have a photo of them being all serious doesn’t mean they weren’t also happy sluts. What do you think they were protesting for, the right to have more protests or the right to be open and public about their sexuality?

The point is, you can be political and you can be sexy. You don’t have to pick one. And if you don’t like the sight of gays being sexual, maybe you’re not as knowledgable about the feeling of pride as you think you are.

White underwear – there’s something about it that’s timeless. From the very first undergarments to today, white undies are something we’re all familiar with. Many modern men may choose to stray from white, but it remains a surprisingly fresh underwear choice. With that in mind, this week’s Style Guide is a tribute to contemporary white underwear, both briefs and boxer briefs. We like to think of them as the new classics.

Corey Lewandowski Battles Christine Quinn Over Trump’s Anti-Semitic Hillary Tweet: WATCH

Hillary Star of David

On Saturday, Donald Trump’s tweeted a photo of Hillary Clinton with a Star of David atop a pile of cash with the caption “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever. The tweet was changed out for the image on the right after Trump came under heavy criticism for being anti-Semitic.

Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff’s Star, or plain star!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 4, 2016

The criticism caused Trump to release a statement and tweet in his defense:

“These false attacks by Hillary Clinton trying to link the Star of David with a basic star, often used by sheriffs who deal with criminals and criminal behavior, showing an inscription that says ‘Crooked Hillary is the most corrupt candidate ever’ with anti-Semitism is ridiculous.”

The image was reportedly had appeared on an anti-Semitic white supremacist message board but Trump’s social media director Daniel Scavino said it was lifted from an anti-Hillary Twitter user, @FishboneHead1, who tweets many images, according to Mic, which thinks the lack of attribution is odd considering the campaign always shows its Twitter sources:

In this particular instance, not only does the Trump account fail to attribute the @FishboneHead1 account — or mention any other Twitter account, for that matter — but whoever superimposed the “Fox News Poll” banner over the lower-left corner of the image completely obscured @FishboneHead1’s watermark, thereby further obfuscating the origin of the image.

If, as Scavino claims, Trump’s team really did find the controversial meme from Twitter — and not from /pol/, or another digital repository for racist, xenophobic and violent imagery like it — it is unclear why the Trump campaign would choose this particular instance not to attribute the account from which they found it, rupturing from their longstanding attribution practice just when the campaign would seem to need it most.

On CNN’s New Day Tuesday, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski went to bat for Trump and Scavino while Christine Quinn tried to shut him down, arguing that the explanation “stretches credibility.”

American Tarzan

Check out our weekly guide to TV this week, and make sure you’re catching the big premieres, crucial episodes and the stuff you won’t admit you watch when no one’s looking.

If the Fourth got you hungry for more grilled delights, see how the pros do it on Chopped: Grill Masters.  The tournament includes 16 chefs competing in Napa Valley. Catch the premiere Tuesday at 10 p.m. Eastern on Food Network.

Even before Alexander Skarsgård, we’ve always had a thing for guys in loincloths. The Legend of Tarzan meets American Ninja Warrior in Discovery’s new reality competition, American Tarzan, premiering Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern.

Millionaires aren’t finding love on Grindr (we’d know, we haven’t seen any yet), so why should you? Skip Scruff and get all the dating tips you need from Millionaire Matchmaker‘s Patti Stanger when she returns Friday at 10 p.m. Eastern on WEtv with Million Dollar Matchmaker.

We are OBSESSED with The Great British Baking Show. The antithesis of all of America’s cutthroat competitions, the series is a delightfully gentle gauntlet of various cakes, pastries and biscuits. On Friday’s episode, 9 p.m. Eastern on PBS, the remaining contestants bake biscotti.

Ellie Goulding, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Steven Tyler, Dave Matthews and Joan Jett are lending their voices (and music) to Hello World, a new series on Discovery premiering Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern. The series pairs wildlife footage with popular songs, while Usher and Christina Aguilera prove whether or not they have the necessary koalafications to narrate nature documentaries in the premiere.

What are you watching this week on TV?

Justin Trudeau Marches in Toronto Pride Parade, is First Canadian PM To Do So: WATCH

Justin Trudeau Marches in Toronto Pride Parade, is First Canadian PM To Do So: WATCH

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday became the first sitting Canadian Prime Minister to march in the Toronto Pride Parade, the Canadian Press reports:

Trudeau drew loud cheers from the crowds of people watching the parade. Other notable politicians taking part include Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory.

Before the parade, Trudeau attended an outdoor church service in the heart of the city’s gay village where he sang along to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”

The parade wraps up a month of Pride festivities in Toronto, which saw entertainment heavyweights like George Takei and Lindsay Lohan participate.

Trudeau marched beside a gay Syrian refugee:

Standing 5-foot-1, it was easy for the 29-year-old Syrian refugee to work his way to the front of the group and next to the leader of his new country — a spot he didn’t surrender for the entire parade route.

“Not in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought about having a day like this, marching next to the prime minister or marching in a Pride,” he said.

He arrived in Toronto May 26, almost three years after he left the home he’d shared with his mother in Damascus, Syria, and just days before Toronto Mayor John Tory proclaimed Pride Month at City Hall.
