In pop culture’s latest gay-vs-gay feud, Billy Eichner, host of truTV’s Billy on the Street, took on fellow comedian Ross Mathews and accused him of ripping off his show.
It all started when Eichner saw a CapitalOne commercial featuring Mathews, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race and host of Fox’s Hollywood Today Live, where he interviewed random people on the street in the same way that Eichner does it on Billy on the Street.
While that type of interview — man-on-the-street — is nothing new to TV and it’s been used in late-night talk shows for years, the style was indeed very similar.
Eichner was furious, and not very gracious about it:

Apparently, not all was good yet.
On Monday, Mathews spent three and a half minutes on Hollywood Today Live explaining to his co-hosts what had happened:
“On Friday, somebody tweeted me who claims I ripped him off,” he said. “Bully Eichner” from the “Bully on the Street” show.
Mathews, who first became known as “Ross the Intern” at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2001, said that he’d been doing those man-on-the-street interviews for years, so he couldn’t have ripped Billy on the Street off.
“You may do it better than me, but I did it before you,” he said adding that Eichner “did not like that and he went on this all-caps Kanye-style rant at me.”
Mathews said that he’s “all about positivity, but if you come at me wrong, I’m just going to have to fill you in that you need new britches because you might be too big for yours.”
But of course Mathews doesn’t want any drama: “This is not about negativity. Please don’t go after him,” he told the audience. “This needs to be done.”
Even though he did bring it up a few days after it’d already died on Twitter.

‘The Fosters’ Addresses Gun Violence, ‘Suited’ Tackles Trans Tailors and More TV This Week

Blended-family drama The Fosters return tonight for a fourth season with a powerful episode. The premiere and second episode of the season focus on a school shooting and its aftermath. The storyline was written and filmed long before the tragedy in Orlando, but recent events have impacted the show, which centers on a blended family led by two lesbian mothers. Actresses Cierra Ramirez and Sherri Saum will appear in a PSA before the premiere tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern on Freeform.
If you’re looking for something a bit more brainless (and blonde and Botoxed), the ladies of The Real Housewives of Orange County are back tonight at 9 pm. Eastern on Bravo. The housewives that launched a thousand screaming, wine-soaked luncheons kick off their 11th season featuring returning cast members Tamra, Heather Dubrow and the OG herself, Vicki Gunvalson.
HBO’s latest dapper documentary shines a spotlight on a Brooklyn-based shop that tailors custom-made clothes for trans individuals. Suited, produced by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, tells the story of Bindle & Keep and its customers as they work together to create an outward expression that’s a perfect fit. The film premieres tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern.
Yas, kween! USA’s new summer crime drama, Queen of the South, gives us a steely, sexy drug queenpin and possibly our new favorite show for the summer. Based on the novel La Reina Del Sur, the show, premiering Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern, stars Brazilian actress Alice Braga as Teresa Mendoza, a sort of fictional Scarface.
It probably won’t match the epic scale of last night’s episode, but the season finale of Game of Thrones Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO certainly still has some tricks up its sleeve. It’s the trial of Cersei (and the handsome homo Ser Loras). Expect more twists, turns and bodies than an episode of How To Get Away With Murder.

Broadway's Finest to perform 'What the World Needs Now is Love' on NBC to mark Orlando tragedy

Broadway’s finest musical artists will be performing an updated version of “What the World Needs Now is Love” for the first time tomorrow on NBC’s Maya and Marty. The airing will mark the first non-studio performance of the benefit single, with appearances by over forty artists, including Tituss Burgess, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Cerveris, and Sean Hayes.
The song, which covers Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s original melody, is the product of Broadway for Orlando, a charitable initiative brought about by the collective energy of the Broadway community to honor the victims of the Orlando shooting at Pulse nightclub. Featuring artists such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Wayne Brady, Gloria Estefan, Idina Menzel, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the recording is available on Broadway Records and iTunes with all proceeds going to the LGBT Center of Central Florida.
NBC’s decision to host the performance of the charitable single comes in the midst of other initiatives taken by the music world to support the families and communities shaken by the Orlando tragedy. Most recently, GLAAD partnered with recording artists Imagine Dragons and Nate Ruess for the ALL IS ONE Orlando Unity Concert taking place this Wednesday June 22 to benefit the OneOrlando Fund.
