Anti-gay Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick tweeted a Bible verse from Galatians 6:7 – “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” early on Sunday morning as news was breaking across the nation that dozens had been killed in an overnight massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

The tweet has been deleted. But another one remains.

The Houston Chronicle reports:

Another verse was tweeted from the account 30 minutes later, this time from Psalm 37:39, which reads, “The Salvation of the righteous come from the Lord; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.”

A Houston Chronicle request for comment was not immediately returned Sunday morning.

Dan Patrick tweet

Patrick has been an outspoken opponent of LGBT rights, telling Texas judges that they may refuse to marry same-sex couples, applauding the defeat of Houston’s LGBT nondiscrimination ordinance HERO, and defying President Obama’s direction to schools on transgender rights, among other things.

UPDATE: 50 Dead In Orlando Gay Club Attack; Here’s What We Know So Far

orlando-pulse-attack

Details continue to emerge amid the chaos of what’s being described as the deadliest mass shooting in United States history late Saturday night at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Now Orlando Police Chief John Mina has upped the casualty list to a staggering 103, with 50 dead and another 53 injured.

Police say the gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce, FL, stormed the downtown nightclub around 2 a.m., opening fire on the crowd. He then took dozens of people hostage in a an hours-long standoff with police. That ended around 5 a.m., when authorities executed e a rescue operation during which Mateen was shot and killed. Police drove a truck through the wall to distract the shooter.

“Our SWAT officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The suspect is dead,” Mina said at a press conference. “He appeared to be carrying a rifle, an assault-type rifle and a handgun and had some type of device on him.”

FBI agent Ron Hopper said Mateen may have ties to radical Islam, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

“We are investigating this from all points of perspective as an act of terrorism,” said Special Agent Danny Banks, in charge of Florida’s Department of Law Enforcement.

Pulse posted a brief and harrowing Facebook message during the attack, urging patrons to find safety:

Christopher Hansen was getting a drink by the bar when he “just saw bodies going down,” he told CNN.

“It’s just shocking, just one after another after another. It could have lasted a whole song.”

He instinctually dropped to the ground and crawled along the floor, eventually finding a man who had been shot.

“I took my bandana off and shoved it in the hole in his back,” Hansen said.

“The shots did not sound like a regular handgun. It sounded like it was shooting repetitively and it wouldn’t stop,” said Anthony Torres, who was also inside the club.

President Obama is receiving updates from Homeland Security and is expected to address the nation soon.

Those able to donate blood should visit www.oneblood.org or call 1.888.9Donate.

The attack at Pulse was only a few miles from Orlando’s Plaza Live theater, where 22-year-old The Voice singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed Friday night.

Gay Teens Confess What’s Really On Their Minds

Gay Teens Confess What’s Really On Their Minds

gay-teens

Teenage years are no walk in the park. Sure, you typically don’t have any high-stake life pressures demanding constant action, and lots of time is spent socializing, but the volcanic hormonal eruptions taking place in the brain pretty much ensure that there will be a hefty share of drama.

For many queer teens there’s historically been an added layer of feeling different, of “not fitting in.”

But is that still the case as more and more places don’t just tolerate gay people, but fully accept and embrace us?

We may be seeing a cultural shift for the better, but as you can see below from these gay teens on Whisper, there’s still work to be done:

Yes I

I

I

I

As a gay teen in a homophobic straight world, it

As a gay teenager, I

I

im a gay teenager and hate the new gay generation. everyone seems so judgmental and bigheaded, and it

I feel like it

Being a gay teenager and trying to date is so hard. I want some practice trying to go out with guys before I get to college lol

I hope my parents will one day come to accept me. I

As a gay teenager, it feels like it

I

Everyone says being gay in high school sucks, but I

As a 17 year old gay guy, I shouldn

Being a gay teenager I love rating guys butts, it makes up 50% of my day haha
