SIR IAN MCKELLEN. Actor says ‘Brexit makes no sense if you’re gay‘: “If I were to look at ‘in’ or ‘out’ from that point of view, there’s only one point, which is to stay. If you’re a gay person, you’re an internationalist. I don’t want us to retract. I don’t want to and I won’t, whatever the vote happens to be.”
STAR-GAZING. Light pollution obscures the Milky Way from 80% of North Americans: “That’s according to a new atlas of artificial night sky brightness that found our home galaxy is now hidden from more than one-third of humanity. While there are countries where the majority of people still live under pristine, ink-black sky conditions — places such as Chad, Central African Republic and Madagascar — more than 99 percent of the people living in the U.S. and Europe look up and see light-polluted skies.”

Peter Thiel Wins: Gawker Is Toast, Officially Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
Goodbye, Gawker.
The media company just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the wake of the $140 million lawsuit it lost to Hulk Hogan, who sued the company for invasion of privacy after it leaked his sex tape in 2012.
Shortly after the verdict, it was revealed that openly gay Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel had personally financed Hogan’s lawsuit in an act of revenge against the company for trying to out him back in 2007. (Talk about an angry queen with a grudge.)

In a statement released this afternoon, Gawker announced it had reached an asset purchase agreement with the media company Ziff Davis. The agreement is reported to be somewhere between $90 to $100 million. The deal is not yet set in stone, however, so other bidders are welcome to offer a higher price in an auction supervised by a bankruptcy court.
Gawker already sold a minority stake to the investment company Columbus Nova Technology Partners back in January in an effort to raise money for the lawsuit.

Donald Trump Promises Evangelicals He’ll Defend Marriage and Family: WATCH
At a speech in Washington, DC on Friday, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump promised to defend Christian values, including ‘marriage, and family.’
Trump told the evangelical Faith and Freedom Coalition, “I’m with you 100 percent.”
Trump told the crowd gathered at the Omni Shoreham hotel and convention center in Washington, D.C. “We will respect and defend Christian Americans. “ He added that he would work hard to advance “our shared values.”
Trump told the mostly evangelical attendees that he would pursue a conservative agenda if elected. The businessman expressed his opposition to abortion, support for Israel and his intention to nominate conservative judges to federal courts, as he generally stuck to themes familiar to the GOP’s religious base. “Marriage and family as building block of happiness and success,” he said.
