Ptown Hacks 2016 by Towleroad is here to help you get the most out of your visit to Provincetown, Massachusetts on Cape Cod this summer. (Download PDF: 2016 Ptown Hacks — TOWLEROADcom)
Ptown is a gay town, meets an old Portuguese fishing village, meets a gastro-pub crawl, meets Popeye and Tennessee Williams on a pier, with the cast of Queer As Folk. (Look it up, kid.) It’s day drinks and lobster traps, cute t-shirts and new-wave tea dance. Visitors have been coming here for a long time…longer than anywhere else in America (which is why they call it America’s First Destination) so there’s a lot to do and see and figure out.
Our annual guide, now in its third year has just been published with more than just the tips. From the sublime–touring the dunes with an experienced guide–to the mundane issues of parking and peeing in a full resort village, we steer you to come correct.
This place has got it all, if by all you mean Brooklyn college nerds, Boston tatted bears, and Bulgarian bus boys; wedding venues, late-night pizza places, and the nation’s first “bed and beverage”; drag queens, a strip show, world-class entertainers, and twinks popping collars; planters punch and party boys; shopping and small plates; a harbor for squidding and two gyms for squating; Friday art openings, five bike rental places, family week, whale watching, water sports, a massive stone monument and a Pilgrim Hat-shaped swimming pool (open to the public).
We are kayaking, dancing, shopping, drinking, biking, and eating just ahead of you (not necessarily in that order), so flip through Ptown Hacks 2016 (above), download a PDF version (below), and look around town for printed copies at inns, restaurants, and other venues from Truro to the Breakwater. If you like the guide even find just one tip that makes your visit better, Please let our sponsors and advertisers know. It will make a difference.

Male Model Loses His Mind, Gets Naked In Times Square, Screams At Cops
This morning, New York commuters trying to cross through Times Square were held up by the (relatively) rare sight of a naked man taunting police officers and shouting aloud about Donald Trump.

“He started taking his clothes off at 45th street,” one eyewitness tells The Daily News. “Any time a woman passed by, he’d throw his clothes at them. The police were trying to save him, but he kept spitting on them, kept hitting them, giving them the finger. The guy’s got muscles.”
That’s because the guy turns out to be 21-year-old fashion model Kirt McClean, who over the years has worked with Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, and Calvin Klein.
Update: NYPD source IDs “naked Times Square man” as Krit McClean, 21. Professional model & @Columbia educated. pic.twitter.com/qXm2ayw4XL

“Donald Trump! Where are you…?” he screamed.
After running around Duffy Square for a solid 90 minutes, much to the shock and chagrin of hundreds of tourists (who no doubt felt they were getting their money’s worth), McClean’s piece de resistance was climbing atop the TKTS ticket booth, a popular hub for discount theatre tickets.

McClean alternately ranted, performed what we’ll respectfully call “freak calisthenics,” and jumped up and down, waving his arms in the air like he just didn’t care.
After taunting a band of impossibly patient police officers, McClean wound up plummeting off the edge of the booth, just missing an air bag that head been placed on the ground by authorities.
Ever as he was being strapped into his stretcher, the model continued screaming at police.

PHOTOS: Austrian Tennis Pro Shows Off His Racket On Celebrity Big Brother
By our estimate, German Celebrity Big Brother is good for one thing so far: giving us a full-court view of Austrian former pro tennis player Daniel Köllerer.
Kollerer was banned for match-fixing in 2011, but now that will be the second thing people talk about when his name comes up.
Progress?
Trans America, Serial, That London Pride Proposal, Gun Vote, GB Divers, Times Square Naked Guy: NEWS
BY THE NUMBERS. New study finds twice as many transgender adults in the U.S. than previously thought: “There are 1.4 million adults who publicly identify as transgender living in the United States, a new study by The Williams Institute finds. That figure is double previous estimates, which had placed the adult transgender population at 700,000.”
TERRORISM. The Istanbul airport attackers were reportedly Russian, Uzbek and Kyrgyz: “An unnamed Turkish official confirmed for Reuters news agency the dead attackers’ countries of origin after Turkish media reports. Some agencies named one of the men as Osman Vadinov, said to have crossed into Turkey from the IS stronghold of Raqqa in Syria in 2015. Reports that he was a Chechen have been denied by an unnamed police source in the North Caucasus, Russia’s Interfax news agency reports.”
SERIAL. Adnan Syed of podcast fame to get a retrial: “The decision to grant Mr. Syed, 35, a retrial is a major victory for an inmate who has long maintained his innocence and has exhausted all other avenues of appeal. He was convicted of the murder of Hae Min Lee in 2000 and has served 16 years of a life sentence in prison.”
GUNS. House to vote on gun bill next week: “[Speaker Paul] Ryan said it’s ‘just common sense’ to make sure ‘suspected terrorists can’t get guns,’ according to a source on the call. But he said also that he wants to look at the issue deliberately to ensure people’s due process is protected if they don’t believe they should be on the watch list.” Support for gun control legislation has, meanwhile, surged since the Orlando massacre.
LISTEN. Demi Lovato drops new single “Body Say.”
RIO 2016. The Team GB divers are looking mighty patriotic.
ARMAGEDDON. 13% of Americans would rather a giant meteor hit the earth than vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
SCIENCE. Good news as scientists detect “healing” in Antarctic ozone hole: “The scientists said that in September 2015 the hole was around 4 million sq km smaller than it was in the year 2000 – an area roughly the size of India.”
NAKED AND UNAFRAID. Male model who was in the pages of GQ and Harper’s Bazaar stripped down in NY’s Times Square today, taunting police. More here.
SWEETIE, DARLING. Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie has made its premiere in London.
PENTAGON. The details of the DOD’s lifting of the transgender military ban are complicated: “The details of the transgender policy change appeared to strike a compromise between some issues at play. Notably, transgender people who want to join the military will be required to wait 18 months after a doctor certifies that they are stable in their new gender before they can enlist. Defense officials familiar with the discussions have said that the Army and Marine Corps pressed to wait two years, while the Navy and Air Force thought 12 months were sufficient.”
BRAWL. Insane fight breaks out at Mexican restaurant in Dallas at 2:30 AM over…chips and salsa.
GOP. 5 terrible Trump stories currently in circulation.
GLORIA STEINEM. The legendary feminist talks Marilyn Monroe — ““We wonder if we could not have saved her” — and drag queens — “I know part of the reason why i’m uncomfortable is that I also was trained to be a female impersonator [by society].”
SOCIAL MEDIA. The ex-boyfriends of the couple that got engaged at London Pride last week wish everyone would stop posting about it: “If y’all could stop retweeting that picture of my ex getting proposed to by his policeman boyfriend, that would be great.”
@OhHeyJacob if it makes you feel any better, the guy proposing to him is my ex fiancé. So know how you feel!

GAME OF THRONES. Listen to the haunting score from the opening of the season 6 finale titled “The Winds of Winter.”
CRIME. Mark Salling’s child porn trial has been delayed indefinitely: “The delay was reportedly granted after the court allowed Salling to hire a new lawyer, who will use the given time to familiarize himself with the case. A new trial date is expected to be set during a preliminary hearing on September 19.”

NBA and Charlotte Hornets: ‘We Do Not Endorse’ the Amended Version of HB 2
In a joint statement released on Thursday, the NBA and the Charlotte Hornets declared they do not support the current draft legislation in the North Carolina House which would revise HB 2, the state’s anti-LGBT ‘bathroom bill.’
Earlier reports indicated that the legislation revising HB 2 was introduced amid pressure from the NBA as North Carolina is set to host the 2017 All-Star Game in Charlotte.
From the joint statement, it appears that neither the Hornets nor the NBA believe the revisions go far enough in addressing concerns over anti-LGBT discrimination.
“We have been engaged in dialogue with numerous groups at the city and state levels, but we do not endorse the version of the bill that we understand is currently before the legislature. We remain committed to our guiding principles of inclusion, mutual respect and equal protections for all. We continue to believe that constructive engagement with all sides is the right path forward. There has been no new decision made regarding the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.”

The Human Rights Campaign blasted the proposed changes as paltry earlier in the week. HRC President Chad Griffin dubbed the proposed bill ‘HB 2.0’:
“Anyone who cares about equality must reject this ridiculous proposal out of hand. This despicable bill would continue insidious policies targeting LGBTQ people for discrimination and do nothing to fix the mess HB2 created. It’s past time for North Carolina lawmakers to listen to the overwhelming chorus of voices from across North Carolina and around the country calling for full repeal of this hateful law.”
Earlier Thursday, the Human Rights Campaign, Equality North Carolina, National Center for Transgender Equality, and NAACP North Carolina wrote to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver [above] “to share [their] concerns about the NBA’s evolving posture toward HB2 and other proposals targeting LGBTQ and other people across the state of North Carolina for discrimination.”
LGBT advocates have blasted the draft proposal, saying that, rather than repealing language opposed by LGBT groups, the new bill actually could make things worse.
“It is easy to march alongside the LGBTQ community in a parade. But whether you stand shoulder to shoulder with us when we are under attack will be the true measure of your leadership,” the groups wrote to Silver in Thursday’s letter.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has previously said the league would consider moving the All-Star Game from Charlotte if lawmakers didn’t change HB 2.
