HRC Celebrates American Airlines’ Commitment to LGBT Equality

This week, HRC celebrates American Airlines on its 90th birthday.

As a National Corporate Partner at the Platinum level, American Airlines generously supports HRC and has demonstrated a high level of commitment to LGBT equality.

American Airlines received a 100 on HRC Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, which is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBT employees. It was also rated one of the best places to work.

Additionally, American Airlines supports the Equality Act and has spoken out against anti-LGBT legislation across the country, most recently in North Carolina.

The company frequently posts on social media about LGBT issues, including celebrating the Supreme Court’s historic decision in favor of marriage equality last year and honoring LGBT Pride Month.

American Airlines is HRC’s first and longest-running National Corporate Partner. HRC thanks American Airlines for their ongoing support and dedication to LGBT equality and wishes them a happy birthday on this momentous occasion.

Erie Gay News and Mental Health Association of NW PA (MHA) jointly held a candidate forum on Thursday, March 24 at MHA, 1101 Peach St, Erie PA. Erie Gay News had previously sent out candidate questionnaires on LGBT issues to all major party candidates for US Senate, US Congress PA-3 and PA-5, PA State Senate District 49 and PA State House Districts 1,2,3,4 and 6 and invited candidates from both parties to the forum.

Both local TV news teams provided coverage. The forum was moderated by Ron Ames. Candidates attending/represented included Ron DiNicola for Hillary Clinton (candidate for US President – D), Judi Roth for Joe Sestak (candidate for US Senate – D), Sean Wiley, candidate for PA State Senate District 49 (D-Incumbent), Pat Harkins, candidate for PA State House District 1 (D-Incumbent), Flo Fabrizio, candidate for PA State House District 2 (D-Incumbent) at Peter Zimmer, candidate for PA State House District 6 (D).

Light refreshments were served, and there was a good turnout. Erie Gay News and MHA are looking forward to holding another candidate forum in the fall for the general election. The forum will be October 6 and the general election is on November 8.
