So I ask her and she said they can be what they want, could she be hinting that see might approve of the LGBT community and will support me if I came out Bisexual because she and my aunt cooked the food for my gay cousin wedding like 2 years ago and her friend that is really close in the family, brother is a tranny and I think she fine with it, but my stepdad on the other hand just laugh at it and say you born a man you stay a man same apply to women to.

I like girl but at my lower school I had 3 girlfriend one by one but unfortunately they all left the school and that didn’t help my confidents at all.

Houston Bigot Who Led Anti-HERO Campaign Advocates ‘Reparative Therapy’ For Trans People

A group of transgender activists and allies staged a rally in Houston on Saturday in response to voters’ decision to repeal the city’s Equal Rights Ordinance.

Meanwhile, the leader of one of the groups opposing HERO is now advocating reparative therapy for trans people.

From The Houston Chronicle‘s report on Saturday’s rally:

In a city where few folks know transgender people, everyone knows about them on the heels of Proposition 1, an ordinance that would have granted protections to several groups of people, but that opponents feared would allow men to use women’s restrooms.

“We are here to say ‘We are not going to rape you in the bathroom,’ ” said Olivia Maynard, 41, a transgender woman with tidy makeup, flowing hair and a loose blouse. …

 Nikki Araguz Loyd, founder of the Transgender National Alliance, which organized the rally, said coverage promoted a shallow, simplified notion of what a trans person is.

“Our mission is to create a new perception of trans people,” she said. “Not a stereotype.”

Dave Welch, executive director of the US Pastor Council, which led opposition to the ordinance, told the Chronicle in response to the rally that trans people are disrespecting the Christian God by wanting a body other than the one he created for them:

He said they suffered a “mental disorder” that should be “healed,” not affirmed by accommodative policies.

People do not have the right to choose their gender, he said, and should seek Biblical therapy to settle their confusion.

Welch’s group was behind a petition drive to repeal HERO, which was approved by the City Council in May 2014. The city rejected the petition, saying it didn’t have enough valid signatures. And both a judge and a jury upheld the city’s decision, saying the petition contained rampant forgery. However, the elected, all-Republican Texas Supreme Court later ruled that the city had to repeal the ordinance or place it on the ballot.

In a celebratory email last week, Welch called HERO’s defeat by voters “one of the greatest victories for God’s righteousness and justice in this nation in decades”:

The overwhelming defeat of Houston Proposition 1 in spite of a massive, nationally supported propaganda campaign by the Human Rights Campaign, ACLU, President Obama, Hillary Clinton, etc. was truly a shot heard around the world for God’s righteousness and justice.

The angry, defamatory and vicious responses by Mayor Parker only prove to illustrate how personal this was to her, having nothing to do with what is right or what is best for the people of the City of Houston. The breathtaking 22 point margin (61-39) “stunned” the national LGBT activists – and yet we must remember that they are passionately committed to destroying all vestiges of the Judeo-Christian foundations of our nation. The increased turnout of 27%, (268,459 votes cast, 979,401 registered) while still with MUCH room to improve, buried projections and recent turnout numbers, most of it attributed to the churches and No on Proposition 1 vote. …

The innumerable stories in national media illustrate the profound impact that our tenacity and effort, favored by God’s grace, has had on the nation and only in the days, months and years ahead will we know its full scope on turning the people and country back to God.

Adele followed up her first live performance in three years with a second that was just as powerful. Would we ever expect anything less? 

The 27-year-old performed her record-breaking single “Hello” at the NRJ Awards in France on Saturday night, and to put it simply, she stole the show. The singer took to the stage in an all-black ensemble (with the perfect touch of shimmer) and looked perfectly at home behind the mic.

Injustice in Zambia: Transgender Woman Faces 15 Years For 'Deceiving' Man

A transgender woman in Zambia reportedly faces 15 years in prison for the crime of sodomy after a man she met claimed he was “deceived” by her, reported the Washington Blade.

A newspaper in that African country, The Zambia Daily Mail, misgendered the trans woman, deadenamed her and referred to her as a “fake woman” in its headline on October 31, reporting that Magistrate Derrick Mate Chingumbe convicted the trans woman in a court in the country’s Mongu District.

The newspaper identified the trans woman as a 27-year-old hairdresser.

The plaintiff was a 19-year-old taxi driver, who told the court that he met her at a local bar in September. He told the court that the defendant was dressed as a woman when they first met, according to the newspaper. The cabbie testified that the trans woman asked him to turn off the lights before they had anal sex. 

Judge Chingumbe granted the trans woman bail and said she could appeal the verdict to the Zambian High Court, after announcing her conviction.

“I have concluded that Bril [the last name of the trans woman] did actually permit the taxi driver to have carnal knowledge of him. In fact, he was made to believe that he was actually going to sleep with a woman and a woman only because of the way he [the trans woman] was dressed, and he [the trans woman] had long hair.”

The Washington Blade asked U.S. State Department spokesperson John Kirby on Wednesday during his daily press briefing about the trans woman’s conviction. He had not seen the report, Kirby said.

 “If it’s true, it would be deeply concerning to the United States,” he said. 

The Zambian government was asked by the Blade for comment but at press time had not yet responded.

Lingerie Made For Queer People? Now There's A Boutique For That

A groundbreaking new boutique is bringing together and creating spaces for lingerie collections that cater exclusively to queer- and trans-identified individuals.

Jeanna Kadlec recently launched Bluestocking Boutique, an online resource for an often-ignored fashion need for the queer community. Mainstream lingerie companies tend to cater exclusively to specific types of bodies and individuals. Kadlec saw this as a need for a more expansive way of thinking about lingerie.

While not a designer, Kadlec’s boutique brings together different independent brands and fashion lines designed with queer bodies in mind. “I wanted to curate a collection that would appeal to a wide range of styles and also operate an inclusive store where queer– and trans-identified people could have the guarantee of being treated with basic dignity,” she told The Huffington Post.

The Huffington Post chatted with Kadlec this week about Bluestockings Boutique and the ways in which she envisions it serving the needs of the queer community.

Finding queer family is just as important. It’s great to get along with all sorts of different types, but there’s a sisterhood that comes from forging queer friendships that make life just shine brighter.
