The Warwick Rowers are known internationally for their steamy calendars, and it’s always refreshing to know that these men have our backs when it comes to supporting gay rights, too.

The hunks, who hail from England’s Warwick University, recall the early days of their holiday tradition in this new behind-the-scenes clip (above), detailing the shoot for the 2016 edition. The calendar began in 2009 as a simple fundraiser, but quickly drew a massive following among gay men.

When asked if they were bothered by being objectified by gay men one teammate said, “Why would we mind?”

Acknowledging the rampant homophobia that still exists in professional sports, another teammate said, “As sportsmen, doing a naked calendar has given us a chance — that nobody should be afraid of anyone else’s sexuality.”

Collectively, they said that they aspire to be “men who are not afraid to be themselves, to embrace people of every gender and sexuality, and to show our affection for each other.”

Proceeds from calendar sales will go to Sport Allies, an athletic subsidiary of Educational Action Challenging Homophobia, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization based in the U.K.

Bravo to the Warwick Rowers for reminding us that sports should be fun — and so should looking at naked sportsmen!

Paul Ryan Accused Of Being “The Homosexual Lobby’s Trojan Horse For Speaker”

Paul Ryan Accused Of Being “The Homosexual Lobby’s Trojan Horse For Speaker”

paul-ryanWhen it comes to gay rights advocates in Washington, D.C., we think it’s safe to say that Rep. Paul Ryan doesn’t make anyone’s short list.

Ryan supported DOMA in 2013; he supported DADT in 2012; he voted in favor of a constitution ban on same-sex marriage in 2004; he voted to ban gay adoptions in 1999; and he has a zero percent rating with the HRC. That does not an LGBTQ ally make.

Related: WATCH: Gay Marriage Is Not A “Universal Human Value,” Says Paul Ryan

Yet for some reason one conservative lobbying group feels Mr. Ryan is “the homosexual lobby’s Trojan Horse for Speaker.”

Eugene Delgaudio, president of Public Advocate of the U.S., just issued a bombastic call to action to his fellow “pro-family Americans” about Ryan and his candidacy for Speaker of the House.

“Dear Pro-Family American,” the letter begins. “It’s crucial you call 202-224-3121 right away and urge your Congressman to oppose Paul Ryan’s bid for Speaker of the House.”

Related: Ryan Vows Romney Administration Would Defend DOMA, Fight Gay Marriage

Why it is so crucial? Because, the letter continues, “Paul Ryan co-sponsored and voted for the dangerous Gay Bill of Special Rights in 2007 (H.R. 3685) — a bill that will trample the Constitutional Rights of thousands of Americans.”

According to the letter, the “Gay Bill of Special Rights” granted “‘protected class’ status to sexual deviants” while at the same time threatening “the religious freedoms of private businesses and religious institutions who seek to uphold traditional morality in their hiring practices and everyday operation.”

In truth, the “Gay Bill of Special Rights” was actually called the “Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2007” that made it illegal to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientations, and it had absolutely nothing to do with anyone’s religious freedoms. Moreover, the bill was passed by the House in November 2007, but it died in the Senate.

Yet the folks over at Public Advocate of the U.S. are still furious about it… nearly eight years later.

“Ryan thinks he can hide from his past record of voting to throw conservatives under the bus as he runs for the most powerful position in the House,” the letter states. “I need you to sign your petition to your Congressman too and tell them, ‘a vote for Paul Ryan for Speaker is a vote against Traditional Values.’”

The letter concludes: “And once you’ve signed your petition below, please consider giving your most generous contribution to support Public Advocate’s nationwide pressure to stop Paul Ryan’s dangerous bid for House Speaker.”

WATCH: New Adele Video 'Hello' Is Here

Adele has shared the video for “Hello,” the brooding first single off her upcoming album 25, which we now know will be available November 20. It’s the singer’s first new music in three years since the release of 2012’s James Bond theme song “Skyfall.”

In a BBC interview Thursday, the singer described the ballad as “very intimate.”

The black-and-white video, shot in Montreal by renowned director Xavier Dolan, packs drama with Adele doing a bit of acting in her role, opposite The Wire‘s Tristan Wilds. The video tells the story of their disintegrating relationship.

On Thursday the singer also spoke with Apple radio DJ Zane Lowe. (The interview re-airs today at noon ET). During their talk, Adele said she was proud of her performance in “Hello.”

“[Dolan] had me crying and acting,” she said. “I’m really, really proud of it. It’s not like a groundbreaking video in terms of effects and dance moves, but it’s my best video and I’m so proud of it.”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Expands Protection For Transgender People

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Expands Protection For Transgender People

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo used his executive authority on Thursday to expand the state’s anti-discrimination law to include transgender people in what his office said was the most sweeping protections for transgender individuals in the country.

The move will immediately make it illegal for employers, housing providers, businesses, creditors and others to discriminate on the basis of gender identity.

“It is intolerable to allow discrimination of transgender individuals and they are one of the most abused, harassed groups in society today,” Cuomo said during a dinner hosted by the Empire State Pride Agenda gay rights group.

With the executive order, New York has become the first state in the United States to ban discrimination and harassment of transgender individuals by both private and public entities, Cuomo’s office said in a news release.

“While discrimination against transgender people has been specifically forbidden in New York State by Executive Order since 2009, in practice that order only protects state workers,” the release said.

The decision by Cuomo, a Democrat, to use his executive power to expand the law comes after years of lobbying efforts by transgender advocates in Albany. The moves have been stymied by the Republican-led Senate.

New York’s existing anti-discrimination law makes it illegal to discriminate against any person based on creed, color, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, age, sex, marital or family status.

“After years of tireless advocacy, we’ve won a tremendous victory for transgender civil rights with Governor Cuomo’s announcement tonight,” Nathan Schaefer, Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda, said in a statement.

Several states have expanded or enacted anti-discrimination laws to include transgender people.

Last year, Maryland’s former Governor Martin O’Malley, a Democratic presidential candidate, signed legislation prohibiting discrimination on matters relating to housing, employment, credit and use of public restrooms. The latter point drew fire from Republican opponents who labeled the measure a “bathroom bill.”

This week, California became the first state in the nation to agree to pay for a transgender inmate’s sex reassignment operation.
