In his New Rule last night, Bill Maher argued that far-right Christians believe in very little of what Jesus Christ actually said, and the Pope’s recent visit proved that.

Jesus isn’t the face of conservative Republican values, Maher explained. More like Martin Shkreli, who recently jacked the price of an AIDS drug up 5400% and then promised to lower it when the public outrage got out of control.

Said Maher:

Not that Shkreli is unusual for the pharmaceutical industry. 15 years ago cancer drugs cost an average of $10,000 a year. Now it’s $10,000 a month. Because this cartel owns the U.S. government every bit as much as Mexican drug lords own theirs. To all the conservatives who still parrot the line that Obamacare is a government takeover, please then explain why guys like Martin Shkreli are still calling the shots. He’s not a bureaucrat who works for the government. He’s a hedge fund manager who works for the devil.

Figure Skater Adam Rippon Comes Out as Gay: VIDEO

Figure skater Adam Rippon, a 25-year-old two-time national silver medalist, has come out as gay in the October issue of Skating magazine. He’s accompanied on the cover by Ashley Wagner, his training partner and close friend.

“Being gay is not something that defines me,” he tells Amy Rosewater in the magazine. “What defines me is what my mom always taught me: to treat everyone with respect, to always be a hard worker and to be kind.”

NBC Sports reports:

Rippon has skated in three World Championships, with a best finish of sixth in 2010, but never the Olympics. He was eighth at the January 2014 U.S. Championships, missing the two-man 2014 U.S. Olympic team.

“It’s the year 2015. So many more athletes are willing to be open, and it’s part of the culture now to be more open about who you are and what your interests are,” Rippon said in the magazine. “Of course people are interested in your sexual orientation. People love rumors. When athletes come out and say that they’re gay, it makes it a little more normal and less of a big deal — especially in the athletic community. You have a lot of respect for your fellow athletes for working hard toward a goal. Their sexual orientation takes a backseat to that.”

Ice Network reports that Rippon came out because he wants to be an authentic role model:

“I feel so overwhelmed that U.S. Figure Skating wants to be a part of me. It’s a huge thing to have your sport’s governing body be a part of that and to show all their athletes that they accept them for who they are and for their individual personalities. When you go out and compete, you want to represent [the organization] to the best of your ability, and you want to represent your true, authentic self. When you’re honest with yourself, you can do that. I want to be a relatable example. And I want to say something to the dad out there who might be concerned that his son is a figure skater. I mean look at me; I’m just a normal son from small-town Pennsylvania. Nothing changed. I’d just like to be a good role model. I’ve been honest with myself the whole time. I worked hard and loved what I did.”

Undies Model-Selfie Sensation Mark MacKillop Wants You To Watch Him Perform

If you’re not familiar with the name Mark MacKillop, you likely know his face and sculpted body. The busy Broadway performer, who also happens to be a classically-trained ballet dancer, has developed a fervent fan following for his stripped-down selfies.

It all started while MacKillop was on a national tour with West Side Story and became bored in his latest hotel room. He decided to try out his iPhone new self-timer photo app, striking a few artistic poses in his skivvies and later posting them on his Instagram account. As the “likes” climbed from a few hundred followers to more than 30, 000, MacKillop eventually developed a coffee table book collection of his selfies entitled Rm. XIV.

Now you can see what all the fuss is about in person. After two sold-out shows at New York’s sizzling cabaret 54 Below, MacKillop is heading west. He will perform his one-man show, A Night with Mark MacKillop, at  L.A.’s Rockwell Table and Stage on October 18. You can get advance tickets here because it’s certain to sell out soon.

We asked MacKillop to share reasons why he thinks you shouldn’t miss his act so scroll down to find out what they are.

1. I’m going to teach you the six steps to fame on Instagram Facebook and Twitter sung through the music of the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s, who doesn’t love Robyn, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion ridiculousness?

2. The show is very tongue-in-cheek humor, and if I’m not funny I’ll blame someone else, photoshop myself out of the situation or just make you drink more till I am funny.

3. I may or may not remove clothing at points during the show,  so it’s important to say this show is not for children.   I can’t help you become a child star… That’s a whole other level of fucked up I’m not getting involved in.

4. I’m shamelessly plugging the fact I released the worlds first coffee table book of underwear selfies, Rm. XIV ( roomfourteen.com  …see what I did there ) that I took on the road with the international tour of West Side Story, with proceeds that benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS.  Who doesn’t like shameless self-promotion that supports charity?

5. Because you should support live theatre and artists. My band is ridiculously talented and they sound amazing, and my special guests Drew Droege and Alex Newell are incredibly funny and talented.  Plus it’s a fun night out to do something different and have delicious drinks. So you learn to be instafamous and get drunk at the same time. Win-win, no?

Trans boy who died of suicide texted best friend: ‘I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!’ before death

The Wisconsin trans boy who killed himself Monday 29 September received tribute in an emotional eulogy from close friend Foster Noone.

Noone, a fellow queer activist, wrote the eulogy on Medium about the night of Skylar Lee’s death.

Nine minutes before writing his suicide letter, Lee sent Noone three texts which read: ‘FRIEND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!’; ‘Just want you to know that’; ‘I love you so much.’

They received them the following morning.

The evening of Lee’s suicide, Lee asked Noone to read him a poem. They read: ‘Consider the Hands That Write This Letter’, a poem by American poet Aracelis Girmay.

In Lee’s suicide he wrote about how he loved fruit. Noone recounts in the eulogy Lee was a ‘pear’. ‘I feel like pears have a really calm, healing energy.

‘They’re really flavorful and yummy but the colors are really serene and pears can be great as part of a dish or be the star on their own.’

Lee said Noone was a peach.

‘I have an association of kindness [with peaches] because when I lived at my old house, in the summer my gran and I would go to this random old couple’s house who had a peach tree and they’d let us take their peaches for no reason except to be kind.’

In his suicide note Lee said he didn’t want to remembered as a ‘sob story’.

‘Don’t turn my name into a hash tag. Don’t treat this like glory suicide-fest. I am not killing myself because I am trans and queer.’

He said suicide by trans people creates a ‘chain reaction’.

Lee’s memorial service was held Friday October 2 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Here’s How You Can Rent A Go-Go Boy For A Night And Help Promote Gay Entertainment Simultaneously

Cast members of web series Go-Go Boy Interrupted are auctioning off their best assets — themselves — to go out on a dates with the highest bidders, and they need your money to help pay for Season 2 of their show.

Go-Go Boy Interrupted is a web series — so far seven episodes, each only three or four minutes long — about a go-go dancer/alcoholic/messy queen in West Hollywood who is approaching his 30th birthday, and realizes there may be more to life than just being selfish cu*t simply because he is young and therefore a sex object. GGBI creator/writer/director/star Jimmy Fowlie (pictured, in his underwear) based the lead character on his own life, and developed the show as a sketch at The Groundlings; he is now stepping in front of cameras in the hopes of landing a deal with Logo on a TV network. Good luck to him with that plan. Although perhaps it would be best if GGBI stayed as it is: a no-budget YouTube project that is mind-numbing with its vapidity, but is LOL funny.

Three cast members, all newcomers for the upcoming Season 2, are currently up for auction. Two of the guys are legit actors when they aren’t slumming it with this web series stuff: Scott Evans, who played the gay cop on One Life To Live, and Nick Adams, who starred on Broadway in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The third cast member, John Suazo, is a professional massage therapist, and he is auctioning his “date” as an hour-long massage session.

Since the cast members of GGBI aren’t real go-go boys (although there would be nothing wrong if they were, we’ve all gotta make a living), this means they will probably require a certain level of propriety on their dates, and they won’t provide any backroom antics like lap dances and such. Unless they like you for realsies. But seriously, is that really going to happen?

Of course if this fundraiser is a success, Fowlie will undoubtedly auction off anyone and everyone he has ever met to raise money to pay for his show. Fingers crossed he could convince cast member (and YouTube veteran) Drew Droege to put himself up for auction, because that bitch is HI-larious.

Polish President vetoes Gender Accordance laws

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday vetoed the Gender Accordance Act which was approved by the Polish Parliament (Sejm) in July this year.

The act will now return to the parliament where the veto can only be rejected with 3/5 of votes.

According to advocacy group Transgender Europe, the Gender Accordance Act ensures that ‘no one, except for the applicant, is involved in the gender recognition process.’ A transgender person will not require any surgery, medical intervention or hormone therapy.

To apply for recognition, the applicant will need to be a Polish citizen, unmarried and present two independent confirmations (not older than 12 months) of ‘being a person of a different gender identity than the gender legally assigned’ from a clinical psychologist who is also a sexologist, a psychiatrist or a sexologist who is also a medical doctor.

The application will then be assessed by a regional court in Łodz (which will also be the only court assessing these applications) within three months of submission.

The applicant will also receive a new birth certificate and new documentation proving their education and employment history.

The Act was introduced by the country’s first transgender MP, Anna Grodzka, in May 2012, and it was passed on 23 July by 252 votes to 158, with 11 absentations.
