Channing Tatum vogues for Vanity Fair

Channing Tatum vogues for Vanity Fair

Let’s be honest. We could post a video of Channing Tatum reading a phone book, in Latin, and it would get lots of attention.

The dude is sexy personified. And smart too. The Magic Mike star doesn’t hide that much of his adulation comes from gay men. Which makes him sexier, and even more marketable (the fundies hate that!).

He’s made the cover of Vanity Fair’s upcoming August issue. As a teaser to the article, the magazine has 30-seconds of him giving a number of dance moves a go.

The actor shows off his funky chicken, pony, and robot moves. However, when Tatum starts voguing the world stops. There is nothing more perfect in human history.

Don’t take our word for it. Check out the above video.

Rick Scarborough Says He’s Not An Unstable Bigot, Loves Gay People

Rick Scarborough Says He’s Not An Unstable Bigot, Loves Gay People

scarborough_rick_cross_aWhat a difference a few days make.

One week ago today, pastor Rick Scarborough vowed to set himself on ablaze if same-sex marriage was ever made legal in the United States.

“We are not going to bow. We are not going to bend. If necessary, we will burn,” the 65-year-old pastor intoned during a conference call. “The preachers need to get out front, the leaders need to get out front, out front of these ordinary citizens and say, ‘Shoot me first!’”

After the Supreme Court issued its historic ruling on Friday morning, Scarborough released a statement that said, actually, on second thought, he wasn’t going to light himself on fire. He was just, you know, trying to prove a point by quoting a spiritual song. He didn’t mean for anyone to take him literally. After all, where would we be if we took everything the Scripture says literally?

Now, the man of God is back again with a new op-ed published by Variety (!), and he wants everyone to know that, contrary to popular belief, he does not hate gay people. In fact, he loves them! So much so that he feels “compelled” to remind them all that they’re all going to hell.

“I believe that most homosexuals in America are like most Christians,” Scarborough writes, “they simply want to live and let live, and have no desire to impose their beliefs on others. But fringe groups on both sides of the debate over marriage are forcing a dangerous polarization in our culture.”

Fringe groups… like the two he founded — Vision America and Tea Party Unity — and the one he currently heads–the Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration.

“We who believe that homosexuality is wrong are compelled by our love for homosexuals to express that belief, based on biblical revelation,” Scarborough continues. “We believe that we are expressing the purist form of love. We love them enough to face their rejection and at times their ridicule, in order to offer God’s redemption and freedom.”

Huh?

“We want homosexuals to know we love them enough to tell the truth and forthrightly state our support of God’s definition of marriage.”

Um…

“We do not hate homosexuals and we are not out to hurt them. We love them, and we love God, His Word, and His truth.”

Thanks? We guess.

“By the way,” Scarborough adds, “when was the last time a movie or sitcom produced in Hollywood depicted a pastor as caring, loving and selfless? … [T]he typical portrayal of a pastor in a movie is that of an unstable or bigoted hypocrite.”

Unretouched Portraits Illustrate 19 Bare, Bold And Beautiful Women

Unretouched Portraits Illustrate 19 Bare, Bold And Beautiful Women
Alyscia Cunningham was fed up with other photographers suggesting to her that she should photoshop the bodies and skin of her clients. So she created her own photo series featuring unretouched, makeup-free women of all ages to highlight just how stunning natural beauty can be.

In January 2012, Cunningham released her photography book Feminine Transitions which features hundreds of unaltered portraits of women with paired with empowering words of wisdom. “I yearned to create something that actually celebrated girls and women in their natural state,” Cunningham told The Huffington Post.

The project includes women of all ethnicities and ages, with women ranging in age from seven weeks to 103 years old. Since the release of the book a few years ago, Cunningham has continued to photograph women and feature their portraits on the Feminine Transitions Facebook page.

After taking each woman’s photographs, Cunningham chooses a quote that she felt resonated with that woman’s image. Every quote is an empowering message that celebrates each woman and her natural beauty.

“It is my hope that this series empowers little girls to know they are beautiful just as they are,” Cunningham said. With a broader message that “liberates aging women from hiding behind their make-up and hair color (to cover up the grays) and reminds every senior woman who feels that her wrinkles are a negative reminder of growing older, that each line is a story map of her soul and her wisdom.”

She added that she wants “every woman, young and old, all races and colors, to know that they are naturally beautiful. It’s time to stop allowing society to dictate our beauty.”

Check out the bare, bold and beautiful portraits from Cunningham below.

REVIEW: Torobaka – Sadler’s Wells, London

REVIEW: Torobaka – Sadler’s Wells, London

Sadler’s Wells in London has a strong reputation for presenting innovative dance productions.

Torobaka is exactly the kind of production that many modern dance lovers are looking for  – Akram Khan and Israel Galván collaborating together to create something exciting and unique.

Khan is a master of kathak – a traditional style of dance from the north of India. Galván is one of the finest exponents of contemporary flamenco – the dance that defines southern Spain.

Flamenco is thought to share its roots with kathak – Spain’s Romani population migrated from India (via the Middle East) in the 14th and 15th centuries – both styles of dance feature heavy use of percussive footwork and rhythmic cycles.

But Torobaka is more than just Khan and Galván coming together to showcase the similarities in their technique, what they’ve created through their collaboration is something extraordinary.

In describing their creative process, Khan and Galván count the poem Toto-vaca by Tristan Tzara as one of their main influences. The dadaist, surreal sense of the absurd seems to liberate the two dancers and three accompanying musicians, freeing them to explore new movements, new shapes, new sounds.

This style of dance isn’t going to be for everyone. The structure is sometimes hard to follow, there isn’t a lot of ebb and flow or dramatic arc to the work, occasionally it all felt just a little bit silly. But on the night that I saw it, the capacity audience at Sadler’s Wells leapt to their feet to give a standing ovation to one of the most creative, inventive, and surprising dance performances that you could hope to see.

Torobaka is being performed at Sadler’s Wells until 5 July 2015.

Donald Trump Told George Takei He Attended A Lovely Gay Wedding; Still Opposes Gay Marriage; Still Sucks

Donald Trump Told George Takei He Attended A Lovely Gay Wedding; Still Opposes Gay Marriage; Still Sucks

0827_donald_trump_90114117_getty-1-1We’ve grown ever-so weary of hearing about/from Donald Trump, and yet we feel compelled to tell you what the mega-rich humanoid bottle of Orangina told George Takei over lunch several years back.

Speaking to Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC’s The Last Word, Takei claims, “When I met him, he said, ‘You know what, George? I just came from a gay marriage’ — he had come from a wedding of a very important Broadway personality, Jordan Roth [who married the producer Richie Jackson]… He told me, ‘They’re good friends of mine. It was a beautiful marriage. They’re wonderful friends.’”

However, the bloated blowhard didn’t stop there, couldn’t stop there, because he must always speak, lest the world spin off its axis.

When Takei asked Trump why he doesn’t support same-sex marriage, Trump responded, “‘Well, I’m for traditional marriage.’ We finally agreed to disagree — he was for traditional marriage, despite the fact that he’d been married three times. That is not traditional.”

Takei has no problems with Trumps’ triptych of failed marriages, because “you want to find the person that you love, but the important thing here is to understand that our democracy is a dynamic democracy, and our Constitution is a living document, it’s not carved in stone,” Takei opined.

Sadly, Takei didn’t ask Trump why the tanlines around his eyebags are so pronounced, you can make out his preferred brand of sunglasses.

You can watch the whole video here.
