Chris Pratt Recalls His Bigger Days: “I Was Impotent, Fatigued, Emotionally Depressed”

1433521242_chris-pratt-mens-health-uk-cover-467Chris Pratt had one of the most publicized body transformations when he went from lovable everyman to every man loves him.

The former Parks and Rec actor and current action heart throb revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail what it was like to pack on the pounds for comedy and shave them off for action.

On gaining weight for Parks and Rec:

“I said to the creators that I wanted to get fatter for the role. They loved it. I announced it to the whole cast, and then it became a bit of a game: how fat can I get and how fast can I get that fat. I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fat.’ And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, ‘Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.’ And I put the two together.”

And how’d he do it?

“[My wife Anna Faris and I] were drinking a lot of wine and having fun. I was her little Hansel out in the woods and she was fattening me up to put me in the fire. It was like Momma Bear and Papa Bear.”

But the comedy bonus came at a cost:

I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.

And we all know what happened next:

David Mixner on Denny Hastert: 'Stop Beating Around the Bush,' The Speaker is a Pedophile – VIDEO

R_mixner

Civil rights activist David Mixner joined Thomas Roberts today to talk about the latest developments in the Denny Hastert story. Earlier today, ABC News aired an interview with the sister of one of the former Speaker of the House’s abuse victims, Steve Reinboldt, who died of AIDS-related causes in 1995.

Hastert was indicted in May on charges he paid $3.5 million in hush money to an unidentified individual, a former male student with whom he had engaged in sexual misconduct.

Said Mixner:

“The Speaker is a pedophile. And anyone else who would be molesting a 14-year-old high school student would be labeled a pedophile, and we should stop beating around the bush on this…It is the ultimate violation of trust and abuse of authority.”

Hastert also oversaw the Mark Foley case in 2006. Foley resigned after his improper behavior with pages and former pages was discovered, and Hastert and others were found to have looked the other way.

Added Mixner:

“How inappropriate that he was the one that supervised the Mark Foley case, to begin with…I never heard a rumor about the Speaker when I was in Washington. But we do know this. Ms. Burdge is a credible voice today…she was the sister of a man who was clearly abused by a pedophile who was a high school teacher who children look up to…even if some people knew, when you become Speaker of the House, no one’s going to take you on because – that young man who was abused was absolutely right – who’s gonna believe you?”

Trans Women Discuss Sisterhood And The Violence They Experience Every Day

Trans Women Discuss Sisterhood And The Violence They Experience Every Day
Sisterhood is a revolutionary act for all women.

A new documentary series called “This Is Me,” created by WifeyTV with the help of executive producer Jill Soloway, explores the issues trans and gender non-conforming people face everyday. In the most recent episode called “And My Sisters,” artist/actor Van Barnes, performance artist Miss Barbie-Q and artist/filmmaker Zackary Drucker sit down to discuss their friendships and the daily threat of violence they experience as trans women.

“Trans women are born witty, thank God. It’s part of our survival,” Barnes says at the beginning of the video. In the video, the three women sit around a table creating “prayer pumps” to memorialize a sister of theirs who was recently murdered for being trans.

“It’s a revolutionary act to be an out, visible trans person,” Drucker says, to which Barnes added: “It’s a revolutionary act just to walk down the street [as a trans person].”

With one gender non-conforming person being murdered every 48 hours around the world, the violence these women face is very much real — and it informs their behavior.

“I feel like I have to walk around with my fists up again,” Miss Barbie-Q says. She goes on to recount a time two months prior when she was assaulted by a man on the subway, simply for the way she expresses her identity.

“I have to gauge people because if they’re staring at me for too long, I think ‘Do I have to watch my back when I walk away from this person?’ Because violence can go from zero to 90 in a heartbeat,” Barnes says.

She also tells the other women about a time she was assaulted by five men on the street: “One of [the men] put his arm out and clotheslined me, right at the neck… He grabbed me, picked me up, body slammed me. Every single one of those guys took a turn body slamming me,” Barnes said. “Every time I was getting lifted into the air I thought, ‘I hope they don’t paralyze me.’ And nobody came to my rescue.”

“How many trans people are going to have to die on the street before change happens?” Miss Barbie-Q asks the other women in the video. In January and February of 2015 alone, seven trans women were murdered in the U.S.

A sentiment towards the end of the video sums up how important these women’s friendships really are: “These relationships give me a sense of stability, they give me a sense that things are possible, they give a sense of wholeness.”

Lovely, The Wearable Sex Tracker, Is A Fitbit For Your Penis

Lovely, The Wearable Sex Tracker, Is A Fitbit For Your Penis
How lovely.

As wearable devices become more and more common, techies are able to better incorporate their smartphones, watches and fitness trackers into a daily routine. And a new Indiegogo campaign hopes you’re ready to take wearables along for some of your most intimate moments, too.

The Lovely, a “smart” sex toy, fits around the penis and tracks sexual activity — from calories burned, to number of thrusts, to the intensity of intercourse. A smartphone app measures these and other data sets before recommending new sex positions “to help you have even better sex next time,” the Indiegogo page reads.

Made of silicone, the one-size-fits-all toy vibrates to help provide stimulation during sex. It syncs to your smartphone via bluetooth, and its battery lasts for seven hours without vibration, or two hours with. When Lovely’s battery gets low, just place it in its wireless charging cradle to power it up.

One of the best things about the device? Its tracking software isn’t only for straight couples — it’s meant for relationships of all orientations.

“It doesn’t just have to go on a penis,” Reid Mahalko, a sex and relationship expert attached to the project, says of the Lovely in a promotional video. “You can put this wearable on a dildo, you can put it on your fingers, you can use it on a toy on yourself. It’s really only going to be limited by the ideas that you come up with.”

The project is currently raising money on Indiegogo. If the campaign reaches its goal of $95,000 by early July, the Lovely will eventually be released for $169 a pop. The project had raised nearly $5,000, as of Friday afternoon.

People who donate to the campaign can expect to get their Lovely device by June 2016, if the funding is successful, that is.
