Just hours after Caitlyn Jenner made her debut, ESPN announced that Jenner will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs in July. You may recall Michael Sam’s emotional speech after receiving the award last year. Comedian and actor Joel McHale is hosting the show at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater.

Jenner has yet to confirm whether she’ll attend, but she might be more preoccupied at the moment with the world’s reaction to her stunning cover of Vanity Fair.

Jenner, who previously went by the name Bruce, came out as transgender in a sit-down interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer in April. On Monday, Jenner revealed her new preferred name as part of a rollout for her upcoming Vanity Fair interview with Buzz Bissinger and photoshoot with Annie Leibovitz.

“Call Me Caitlyn”: Meet The Newest Member Of The Jenner Family

556c7a224ae56e586e457d3e_vf-cover-bruce-jenner-july-2015“Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day, he always had a secret, from morning till night,” explains a familiar voice in a video segment accompanying a Vanity Fair cover story touting the statement “Call me Caitlyn.”

“Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”

The magazine hits news stands on June 9th, but it would appear that Caitlyn Jenner is already well on her way to feeling free.

As part of an in-depth profile on her transition from Bruce to Caitlyn, she tells Pulitzer Prize–winning writer Buzz Bissinger, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’”

And then there’s that cover shot — a reserved yet fiercely exposed Caitlyn flashes a truthful stare.

Renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz took a series of portraits of Caitlyn (the first photos of her ever taken, to be precise), and the look is a long way off from the last time America saw Jenner sitting across from Diane Sawyer.

Preview more of her looks in this behind-the-scenes video:

Connecticut Pastor Shot in Possible Anti-LGBT Hate Crime: VIDEO

Connecticut Pastor Shot in Possible Anti-LGBT Hate Crime: VIDEO

Taylor

Police are investigating whether the shooting of a pastor in Hartford, Connecticut last week was a hate crime in retaliation to the church being “accepting and open to the LGBT community.”

Buzzfeed reports:

Sealy“Some language used in the incident — and given where it was, in front of a church known to be accepting of our LGBT community — it led us to have concern that this is a hate crime,” Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley said in an interview Tuesday.

Just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Rev. Augustus Sealy, 54, was placing flags in front of the Hartford First Church of the Nazarene to honor veterans for Memorial Day. The service that followed was supposed to be a celebration of his five-year anniversary as senior pastor.

An assistant to Sealy told BuzzFeed “we don’t like the [gay] lifestyle, but we like the people — the individuals. I think we are tolerant of the people. We are very caring of other people.”

Authorities have obtained an arrest warrant for Aaron J. Taylor (above), the suspected shooter. According to police, Sealy’s shooting is related to a separate hate crime incident that occurred days before.

Here's What You Could Buy If You Quit Your Crazy Starbucks Habit

Here's What You Could Buy If You Quit Your Crazy Starbucks Habit
If sipping on a store-bought cup of coffee is one of your daily rituals, you could be laying out a lot more cash than you realize. Sure, a standard 16-ounce grande cup of plain black coffee at Starbucks costs a modest $2.25 before tax. That’s chump change. But when you multiply that by one work week or one month or one year, even, the numbers become substantial.

If you could give up your coffee addiction or get used to the free brew in your office, you could save that money, or use it to buy a host of other treasures. You might not have the energy to enjoy them at first (hello, caffeine withdrawal), but in a year’s time, you could be saving enough to enjoy a caffeine-free tropical vacation. Loyal latté or Frappucino drinkers could extend that vacation by a week. Yeah.

For sake of simplicity, the infographic calculations below were based on Starbucks’ pre-tax grande-sized coffee price ($2.25), assuming the drink is purchased once per weekday per time period. (Perhaps you have the time to brew a pot at home on weekends, or you treat yourself to an extra-fancy, extra-pricey java at brunch). And if you’re Frap-happy, scroll scroll down: if you buy a plain grande Frappucino ($4.45) every weekday for a year, well, you’re probably being fiscally irresponsible (and likely over-sugared).

The numbers may be alarming, but you can have your cake and eat it, too. Invest in a coffee maker. Buy store-bought beans. Join the rewards program at your favorite shop. Order an iced coffee with no ice — you’ll get twice as much liquid, and you can save it for the next day.
