PFLAGCanada Releases 'Nobody's Memories' As A Tribute To Same-Sex Couples
We hope you have your tissues handy.

PFLAGCanada released this beautiful television commercial this week as a tribute to all of the same-sex couples who were never able to legally wed one another in the past.

Called “Nobody’s Memories,” the video is a mash-up of what appears to be vintage reels of same-sex couples joining in unions that states failed to recognize. It’s definitely one commercial that will tug at your heartstrings.

“This is our tribute to all those in the past who were never allowed to marry by law — and to everyone who is still denied the right today,” the video’s description notes. “Share your love stories, wedding photos and videos on Instagram and Twitter with #lovemadelegal and let’s make gay marriage legal everywhere.”

While same-sex marriage has been law in Canada since 2005, the video is likely a response toan expected ruling from the United States Supreme Court about marriage equality in June.

Alex Is Every Mother’s Dream, He Just Happens To Be Transgender

Alex Is Every Mother’s Dream, He Just Happens To Be Transgender

Screen Shot 2015-04-29 at 9.37.29 AMHallmark has released a batch of videos ahead of Mother’s Day asking people talking about their moms — all saying good things, we hope. One clip that caught our eye shows Alex, a transgender man, showering love on his super-mom Pam. It’s pretty damn sweet.

But it’s also more than just sweet. Kudos to Hallmark for actively expanding the definition of a “Hallmark moment” to include LGBT stories. While it remains incredible that honoring experiences outside the norm (whatever that is) is considered political, such is the reality.

And overcoming any prejudiced viewpoint starts with familiarity  — how many right-wingers suddenly had a “change of heart” about same-sex marriage after their son or daughter came out?

Hallmark doesn’t stand to gain a whole lot by sharing Alex’s feelings for his mama, but they’ve got the right idea to appeal to the emotions of those who stumble upon the video — love is love.

Watch below, and don’t forget to call your mother:

Todrick Hall Performs Mash-Up of More Than 70 Beyoncé Songs in 4 Minutes: VIDEO

Todrick Hall Performs Mash-Up of More Than 70 Beyoncé Songs in 4 Minutes: VIDEO

Hall

Todrick Hall, known for his more extravagantly-produced musical parodies like  CinderoncéThe Wizard of Aahs, and Mean Boyz, turns in a visually-simpler but no less impressive clip today which mashes up all 5 of Beyoncé’s studio albums, as well as some bonus tracks, in a zippy 4 minutes.

Said Hall: “This took four single take performances of memorizing four different sets of lyrics & choreography (ironically this was filmed in four hours), and is exactly four minutes in length because of Beyonce’s connection to the number 4…. Let’s just hope it gets 4 Million views in the next 4 days lol. I am so excited to share this with the Bey Hive.”

'19 Kids And Counting' Star Josh Duggar Has Some Awful Thoughts About Marriage

'19 Kids And Counting' Star Josh Duggar Has Some Awful Thoughts About Marriage
Josh Duggar thinks everyone deserves equal treatment under the law — but that marriage should still be defined between one man and one woman.

“Natural marriage is something that has been clearly defined over the years,” he said at a National Organization for Marriage event on Sunday. “What’s really at stake here is the American family. Marriage is essential to the American family and every single child deserves a mother and a father.”

Duggar was in Washington for NOM’s “March for Marriage,” which took place just days before the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case expected to determine whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry.

The eldest child from the reality show “19 Kids and Counting” is now the executive director of Tony Perkins’ political group, Family Research Council Action.

During his speech, Duggar went on to tell right-wing CNS News that Christians have been persecuted for their faith during the gay marriage debate, and everyone deserves to be treated fairly.

“I believe everyone deserves equal treatment under the law and that’s what we’re here standing for,” he said. “Right now in America there is an agenda to silence people of faith, those who hold a dissenting opinion. That’s not what America was founded on. America was founded on respect, tolerance, and really not discriminating against people based on their religious convictions.”

The Duggar family has found themselves in the midst of several controversies surrounding LGBT issues. In August, Michelle Duggar narrated a robocall asking voters to oppose a bill aimed at strengthening protections for transgender residents of Fayetteville, Arkansas. And in November, the family allegedly removed photos of a same-sex couple kissing from their Facebook page.

During the CNS News interview, Duggar said although people may have differing opinions, the issue needs to be broached with “civility” to “honor what the people have spoken.”

“What we have to do is we have to come to this, and we have to talk with civility,” he said. “We have to go out there and be clear in what we believe and be firm.”

Same-sex couples are legally able to marry in 37 states and the District of Columbia.

Louisiana House Unanimously Adopts Resolution Urging Ginsburg and Kagan to Recuse from SCOTUS Marriage Case

Louisiana House Unanimously Adopts Resolution Urging Ginsburg and Kagan to Recuse from SCOTUS Marriage Case

The Louisiana House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution urging Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan to recuse themselves from the marriage cases pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

ScotusThe unanimous vote appears to have come about because of inattention on the part of some Democratic members, the Times-Picayune reports:

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan “have each engaged in public conduct suggestive of bias,” reads Louisiana House Concurrent Resolution 85, sponsored by state Rep. Valerie Hodges, R-Denham Springs. In engaging on the issue of same-sex marriage, the justices have “thus demonstrate(d) an inability to be objective,” and should therefore withdraw from the Obergefell v. Hodges case, the resolution says.

…But according to a least one lawmaker, adoption of the resolution without a single “no” vote from House members on the floor was sort of an accident.

“I know I didn’t pay attention,” said state Rep. Karen St. Germain, D-Plaquemine. “Usually somebody does.”

Oops.

St. Germain, who has been a sponsor of LGBT workplace non-discrimination legislation, said lawmakers may have been tired or focused on severe weather troubling the state as well.

Hopefully the lawmakers will be paying attention when the “religious liberty” bill crosses their desks.

The non-binding resolution now goes to the state senate.
