Facebook Now Allows Users to Define Custom Gender
Trans advocates have lauded the social media site for empowering their trans and gender-nonconforming users, even as others continue to seek change in Facebook’s “real name policy.”

A Sneak Peak At 'Banana' And 'Cucumber,' Logo TV"s New Gay Dramas
A Sneak Peak At 'Banana' And 'Cucumber,' Logo TV"s New Gay Dramas
The two hotly-anticipated dramas “Cucumber” and “Banana” are set to “sneak premiere” on Logo TV March 2 — and we’ve got an advance peek at the steamy opening sequence of the latter series.
Russell T. Davies, who created the original British version of “Queer as Folk,” is also behind both of the diverse new shows, which will feature plenty of steamy love scenes.
Here’s how the shows are billed:
The two interwoven drama series will explore 21st century gay life in all its powerful, witty, dark and uplifting guises through the lens of two disparate generations. The hour-long “Cucumber” will explore the lives and misadventures of Henry Best (Vincent Franklin) and his long-suffering boyfriend of nine years, Lance Sullivan (Cyril Nri).
The half-hour “Banana” will follow the individual lives of younger characters orbiting around Henry’s world, telling stories of modern love — the romantic, the obsessed, the hopeful, the lonely, the lost, and the lucky – in an urban Manchester, England setting.
“Cucumber” and “Banana” will return for their official season premieres on Logo TV April 13 at 10 p.m.

Man Alleges His Male Lover Beat Him “For Being Gay”
Man Alleges His Male Lover Beat Him “For Being Gay”
Someone call Jerry Springer.
Two men from the town of (irony alert) Romeoville, IL allegedly had a lover’s quarrel at a Days Inn motel in the city of Joliet, IL and now one of them is suing the other.
40-year-old Robert Owcarz says his ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Philip Thorman, stole thousands of dollars from him then hit him for being gay.
According to court records, it all started back in November 2013 when Thorman was thrown in jail for heroin possession. Four months later, Owcarz paid $3,000 to bond his lover out, then gave Thorman an additional $1,170.40 to pay for a three week stay at the Days Inn.
Evidently, though, after Thorman was released from jail, his relationship with Owcarz soured. Because when Owcars went to the motel demanding his $4,570.40 back, he says Thorman flew into a rage.
Thorman “physically struck Owcarz during a disagreement,” the lawsuit claims. “Owcarz was harmed harmed physically and emotionally by Thorman’s unlawful and unpermitted contact.”
The reason for the attack?
“Battery committed by Thorman on Owcarz was motivated by Owcarz’s gender, male, and sexual orientation, homosexual,” the lawsuit alleges.
Say what? The boyfriend hit his boyfriend for being gay?
When asked to explain his exact relationship with Thorman, Owcarz described it as “more than a fling.”
“The guy is a swinger,” Owcarz said of Thorman. “He’s bisexual! He’s a Mormon! And he’s got money!”
It seems like there has to be more to this story. We’re waiting for the other shoe to drop.

San Francisco Archbishop's 'Purity Test' Would Punish Teachers for Posting Photos of Their Gay Son's Wedding
San Francisco Archbishop's 'Purity Test' Would Punish Teachers for Posting Photos of Their Gay Son's Wedding
Earlier this month, we reported on San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone’s new “purity test” for Catholic schools that threatens termination for teachers who give any statement that contradicts church doctrine, including holding a position that homosexuality is anything other than “gravely evil.”
Drunk driver Cordileone’s anti-gay crusade goes even further, however, as The New York Times reports:
Part of the focus here and elsewhere appears to be online sharing of photos and personal opinions. A number of morality clauses in other dioceses express such concerns, specifying that teachers may not post anything on Facebook or Twitter that contradicts church teachings.
Archbishop Cordileone said that teachers who crossed doctrinal lines would be dealt with “on a case-by-case basis.” Asked if a teacher could post photos on Facebook of her gay son’s wedding, he said that “if someone was upset and reported it,” then “the person with the Facebook page would have to be talked to.”
A protest vigil against the new “purity test” was held outside St. Mary’s Cathedral earlier this month.

Loony Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) Tries to Disprove Global Warming with a Snowball on the Senate Floor: WATCH
Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, who infamously bragged on the Senate floor in 2006 that “in the recorded history of our family, we’ve never had a divorce or any kind of a homosexual relationship,” engaged in another bit of political grandstanding this week – this time in an asinine attempt to prove global warming is just a bunch of bologna.
CNN reports:
“In case we have forgotten because we keep hearing that 2014 has been the warmest year on record,” said Inhofe, who is the chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee while holding the lumpy snowball in his hand. “I asked the chair, do you know what this is? It’s a snowball just from outside here. So it’s very, very cold out. Very unseasonable.”
“Catch this,” he said, as he tossed the snowball underhand to an unseen person — perhaps a page or an aide — just a couple of feet away.
He then resumed his speech with a smile on his face that indicated he was quite pleased with his demonstration.
Wonder if Inhofe applies the same logic in bed every night – arguing with his wife that the sun will never come up again because its dark outside…
Watch Inhofe’s embarrassing science experiment, AFTER THE JUMP…
Earlier this week, it was revealed Dr. Wei-Hock Soon, one of Inhofe’s favorite climate denier scientists, failed to properly disclose the fact that he’d received over $1.2 million from fossil fuel corporations like ExxonMobil over the past decade.
